  1. The IHSAA's decision on how to handle the COVID year and "screws" it will put to some programs (ours being one). I don't even know really where to start - but I'll just use our case as an example : Won State in 2017, went to semi-state 2018. Got bumped up to 3A as a result. 2019 beat in 3A sectional...2020 3A semi-state (enough points to keep us up for another 2 year cycle) So (using football years here) 2021 season beat in 3A sectional...2022 SHOULD potentially be our last in 3A based on enrollment figures just released, which would put us back in 2A. HOWEVER - the IHSAA decides...well, we're just gonna wait till 2023 to put everyone back on the same page, sorry about your luck?? So the success factor was suppose to be a 2 year cycle, but we're just the lucky ones to potentially get an extra year?? So essentially the State Champs this year get a free pass as well?? I know there wasn't a great way to handle the COVID year, but I think I could have come up with a better solution. Why not just have a "rolling" 2 year count...what is so hard with that?? It would keep teams from catching the "lucky" side of the window or whatever you want to call it. I know, first world problems....just bored on these snow days

  3. Dwenger was the SAC's 5th best team. They just had a good game in the sectional championship that allowed them to play Zionsville. No one expected the Saints to beat the Eagles this past season. They had their shot in 2020 and blew it. Saints win that game 9 times out of 10.

  4. @Muda69has tried to discuss this many times.

  5. Sad thing is, the term racist (or any form of the word) has been so played out over the last few years, that when a "credible" example of it occurs, so many folks think the accuser is crying "wolf".

  6. Interesting data…..from this article… ARMANDO SALGUERO: BRIAN FLORES CLAIMS RACIAL DISCRIMINATION IN NFL HIRING PRACTICES, SO LET’S EXAMINE HIS HIRING PRACTICES Flores had 20 coaches on his 2021 coaching staff, with 15 of those white and five black. Flores hired four offensive coordinators during his time with the Dolphins, including co-coordinators in 2021. Three of those four are white. Flores hired four offensive line coaches during his tenure, and three of those four are white. Flores hired two defensive coordinators during his time as head coach, one black and one white. Flores hired four quarterback or assistant quarterback coaches during his three years, and three of those four are white, with Jim Caldwell the only exception. Caldwell, it should be noted, worked under Flores for a couple of months but departed before the 2019 season began, citing health issues. Flores hired one special teams coordinator during his time as coach, that being Danny Crossman, who is white. I think that’s quite a theory that tanking is racially motivated. That would demand proof/facts.

  7. Good point. In Kentucky there are only a handful of public schools that can compete with X or Trinity and they are typically forced to play them in District Play. In Cincinnati, only a select few teams from the Greater Miami Conference (Colerain being the main) can compete with the GCL South teams. I can't remember the last time a Lakota school, Mason, Sycamore, or Princeton beat a GCL South team.

  8. I understand and read about this. I see 2 separate but equally concerning issues that demand investigation. I just was trying to understand the post that focused on tanking. I don’t see tanking as a racial issue.

  9. you continuously doubt Temp who obviously has an "in" with Michigan football and Coach Harbaugh. Temp has never share the "in" with me, but all he has ever said has always led me to believe him.

  10. What is there to get?!?!? He's back at Michigan only because he didn't get the Vikings job. Where else was he going to go at that point? How hard is this to understand? Do you really think Harbaugh isn't in Minneapolis full time if he didn't screw up his interview? Are all the people and sources who were part of the interview process coming out and saying Harbaugh acted like an idiot in his interview lying??

  11. Skin color is irrelevant. Please just stop. The “climate” is irrelevant. You said yourself the goal is to win a championship. You conveniently left our FORMER SUPER BOWL WINNING COACH Doug Pederson in your description of his attributes. Kind of an important fact, but you knew that already. Race is not as important of a factor as you, and others want it to be.

  12. Yes I do hope we keep our non-conference games with the SIAC. The no brainer is the the opener with Bosse. That was a non-con game even before joining the conference in 2020. Hoping to add another Evansville opponent similar in size to VL. The Alices will return nearly their entire starting roster from 2021 so a contract with a strong opponent would be beneficial. And of course..the VL/Jasper rivalry MUST stay intact at all costs…which is probably my biggest qualm with leaving the conference. I know it’s been really one sided towards the Cats the last few years in both major sports, but traditionally these schools are back and forth cyclically. As I recall, the Salters led 2017 and 2018 Lincoln teams were a big reason why Tony Ahrens was ousted and Lewis was hired…lest we forget. And there was a point not that long ago that Jasper simply could not beat Lincoln in a meaningful basketball games.. so I’m begging that AD’s from both schools figure this out for football. Basketball less of a schedule problem.

  13. That makes sense, but what still does not is the comment that Ben Davis and Chesterton want a piece of the Cadets as if there was some sort of axe to grind, or that the Cadets are the type of premier program that has a HUGE target on it.

  14. This does not make much sense. Why do either "want a piece of the Cadets"? There is absolutely no connection or history between Concordia and either of these programs.

  15. I’ll wait for that contract extension. He already showed his hand, and failed.

  16. Well, one story we already know is that Notre Dame's President, Father John Jenkins.....not the AD mind you, sat Kelly down at one point, maybe in his 2nd season? and told him the short temper and constant yelling thing is not a good representation of the University. It was kind of an or else.....moment for Kelly.

  17. Saw another SIAC commit today. Jay Smith of Reitz will continue his football career at Rose-Hulman. The engine that kept the Panthers going the past few seasons seems to be a perfect fit for the Fightin’ Engineers!
