  1. Good topic. Not sure on all those specifics, but I will name 3 returning (that I know of, limited knowledge) impact players for each position off the top of my head. QB - Mason Wunderlich (MD), Caleb Ellsperman (Memorial), Grant Young (Jasper) RB - Joey Pierre (MD), Peyton Guerzini (Castle), Jonas Burnett (Reitz) WR - Leo Collins (Memorial), Weston Aigner (Castle), Xavier Thomas (Reitz) TE - Kaleb Harris (North), Branson Beal (Reitz), Brooks Thomas (Harrison) OL - Edward Hartig (Memorial), Timmy Dixon (North), Harlen Summers (Reitz) DL - Jayden Hazelwood (North), Levi Oxley (Reitz), Da'shon Stewart (Central) LB - John Purdy (Castle), Ayden Wells (Reitz), Carac Johnson (Memorial) DB - Bralen Bair (Jasper), Asher Horn (Harrison), Roland Vera Jr. (Reitz)

  2. A lot of really good questions here. I'll try to answer a few or at least give my opinions. Best O-line has got to go to Memorial. I believe they had the best o-line in the conference last year and return everyone if I'm correct. They are my clear choice. Best QB will be Mason Wunderlich at MD. He will be a 3 year starter and has the experience of a couple of deep playoff runs the last two years. He's started 29 games going into his senior season and that has to be a huge benefit to him and MD. Best LB group would have to start with Castle and John Purdy. I think he's the top linebacker in the conference so the discussion has to start here. The others are a bit more murky. Best receiver group could be Memorial with Leo Collins leading the pack. Mater Dei returns Ethan Stolz and Drew Martin who both started last year and made contributions. Best running back. Mater Dei and Castle both return what will be 3 year starters. Memorial loses their dynamite tandem, North and Reitz both graduated their starters as well. I believe Jayden Thomas is gone from Bosse but could be wrong there. TE is tough because I'm not sure outside of Jasper who really uses a TE much. No clue from me. D line might be Castle as well. I know they lost some but they always seem to have a good d line. Mater Dei loses Ralph and Boots which is huge. Memorial loses most of their d line. Not sure what Jasper has returning but they were a menace last year. Another punt from me. Mater Dei returns both starting safeties in Pierre and Turner. Pierre lead the team with 4 interceptions a year ago and Turner had two if I remember correctly. Both played very well and should be better with a year of experience. Corners - no clue. Reitz returns most of their defensive backfield, including Roland Vera, so I might go with them here. I'm sure there are a lot of other opinions out there. I just wanted to try to get the ball rolling.

  3. This topic intrigued me after seeing that IU basketball was still considered a Blue Blood. A Final Four appearance in the last 20 years kept their status in tact...........until now. They've officially dropped off the charts. Who are the high school football Blue Bloods? What qualifies a team as a Blue Blood? What does a team have to do the maintain that status? The following is my perspective: Qualifications: One state title. Two semi-state titles. Five regional titles. Ten sectional titles. Maintenance: Last 15 years One state finals appearance. Two semi-state appearances. Four sectional titles. 1A: Adams Central, Sheridan, and South Putnam. 2A: Mater Dei, Memorial, Luers, Scecina, LLC, Linton-Stockton, and Pioneer 3A: Heritage Hills, Ritter, Southridge, West Lafayette, and Western Boone. 4A: Chatard, Roncalli, Reitz, Lowell, and St. Joe 5A: Columbus East, Dwenger, Snider, Cathedral, New Pal, Valpo, and Zionsville 6A: Ben Davis, Carmel, Center Grove, Penn, Warren Central, and Westfield Teams left out that surprised me: Avon, Hobart, Jasper, and Merrillville. Hobart gets back in with a sectional title any time over the next few years. Merrillville gets in with a state finals appearance, which will be more achievable at the 5A level.

  4. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/california-city-universal-income-transgender-residents A California city is planning to give universal basic income (UBI) to transgender and nonbinary residents regardless of their earnings level. Transgender residents in Palm Springs, California are eligible to receive a UBI of up to $900 per month solely for identifying as transgender or nonbinary — no strings attached. The new pilot program will have $200,000 set aside for allocation after a unanimous vote by the Palm Springs City Council last week. Former San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio, a Republican who served as the first openly gay member of the city council, called the program "outrageous and discriminatory." "We're completely opposed to guaranteed or universal basic income programs, because they ultimately cause inflation and raise the cost of living on everyone — they don't work," DeMaio said in a statement. "But at least some of them have minimum income requirements to qualify, whereas this one is no-strings-attached 'woke' virtue signaling to the LGBT community in a way that is not only offensive but discriminatory," he continued. Twenty transgender and nonbinary Palm Springs residents will receive the free money funded by the taxpayers for 18 months, with advocacy-based health center DAP Health and LGBT advocacy group Queer Works managing the program. DAP Health CEO David Brinkman claimed to reporters that the transgendered population is "one of the most marginalized populations in our city who face some of the highest levels of housing insecurity, joblessness and discrimination." Queer Works CEO Jacob Rostowsky also claimed in a press release that transgender and nonbinary people "are highly marginalized in our society in general, especially economically," and told the Desert Sun that the city of Palm Springs would have to match any state funds. "Our project's budget is estimated at about $1.8 million," Rostowsky said. "And so when we look at what other [programs] that have been successfully funded have done, their local cities have provided nearly a match to that funding." Palm Springs Mayor Lisa Middleton, who is transgender, pointed to the transcript from the city council's March 24 meeting where she "expressed strong reservations in general to guaranteed income programs." "I specifically stated that I did not believe such programs could scale up to adequately respond to the over 37 million Americans living below the poverty line, the over 6 million Californians or the over 400,000 in the County of Riverside living below the poverty [line]," Middleton said in an email, praising Brinkman for his work and expressing her "concern for the financial vulnerability of the transgender community." "Transgender Americans suffer extremely high rates of under and unemployment. Transgender Americans face enormous challenges living full and authentic lives," the mayor said. "Those challenges have increased substantially in the past few years as transgender children and their families have been targeted by extremist legislators and governors." Middleton added she believes a UBI program is a "county, state and federal responsibility," not a "municipal" one. WTF???? $900 a month no matter the income level just because you are gay or identify as one of the abbreviations. For a free 900 a month, in Palm Springs kinda makes SF want to come out and identify as my true self - A LESBIAN TRAPPED IN A MAN"S BODY. That's a thing right.....

  7. Agree with a lot of what you said. I will add my additional thoughts...Best QB should be Wunderlich. Best RB will be Pierre or Guerzini, but look out for Burnett at Reitz if he stays healthy, or St. Louis/Northington at North. Best OL goes to Memorial obviously. Best WR group would be Memorial (Collins and Pearce), MD (Stolz, Martin, younger McDurmon), or Reitz (Thomas, Vera, Hayden Summers). North has talent at WR as well. Best LB group would be Castle led by Purdy or Reitz who returns all of their LBs. Best secondary would be MD, Jasper, or Reitz who returns all of theirs. Best corner probably Bair at Jasper. Best DL might be Castle or North. Lot of talent in the SIAC, looking forward to seeing them all play!

  8. I think you'd have to add Pioneer to that mix. LCC and Pioneer have often been the ones to eliminate each other in sectional or regional play, so despite the strength of program, they sometimes never made it out of sections due to the eventual state champ. Since 2009, the last 13 seasons, LCC and Pioneer have met in post season eight times and eliminated each other ... and in four seasons they were in different classes, so they couldn't meet. In four of those eight seasons, they entered post season as #1/#2 and in another two they were both in the Top 3/4. Pioneer's early exits from post season weren't due to a mishap or weak schedule that caught up with them ... in some cases, they played the state championship game in the first or second game of the post season. Pioneer definitely fits in the pound-for-pound group!

  9. Well the roller coaster that is IU Bball continues in the off season. Negative : Fife is gone after one year and very weird situation that I can't decide if it is indeed negative might not be but overall the optics just not the best seems he will be off to Butler to join Matta . Matta leaves again what exactly his role was as the season went on was murky at best BUT players seemed to wish him well (which was absent for Fife) so at the very least he was a guy the team enjoyed having around. Xavier Johnson who looked to be the true leader and back bone of a potentially talented roster was arrested for speeding in Bloomington so continued off court issues. Seems that it wont jeopardize his spot on the roster plenty of players in the Knight and post eras have had that the question is if the talent outweighs the issues ? right now it seems too . Positive: Coaching staff - Walsh is elevated which seems to be a VERY popular move within the program among players and coaches alike a staple in the program since Archie came. Hunter and Rosemond named associate HCs again Hunter big for Recruiting and Rosemond is a rising star in the coaching game (Rumor is U of L Kenny Paine had zeroed in to bring Rosemond on his staff) . Speaking of Recruiting - IU making a huge push for 5-Star Florida de-comitt and teammate of JHS at Montverde Academy in FLA Malik Reneau 6-9 PF is the 21st overall prospect in the country seems right now IU is the only planned visit this month . In addition class of 2023 5-star big man 6-10 C Kwame Evans Jr. announced his final 5 schools . The 2nd overall prospect in the class of 2023 is down to IU , Oregon, Auburn, UK and UCLA . (the twitter sphere of UK fans don't seem optimistic , a visit their recently did not go well ) rumors have said IU and Oregon to be the real front runners .

  10. Fun exercise. To me, it seems that the term "blueblood" has turned into what some people would consider a power program. I feel like "blueblood" should be the best of the best. Maybe 5-10 programs statewide, not per class Off the top of my head: Carmel, Warren Central, Ben Davis, Center Grove, Cathedral, Bishop Chatard, Roncalli, Bishop Luers, Andrean, Lafayette Central Catholic

  11. Seems that there are at least a few people willing to subordinate partisan politics to being faithful to the constitutional process. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/04/04/senate-vote-ketanji-brown-jackson/ Jackson on course for confirmation, with 2 more GOP senators in favor The Supreme Court nominee is now poised to win final approval by the end of the week By Mike DeBonis and Seung Min Kim The Senate put Ketanji Brown Jackson on a clear track to be confirmed later this week as the Supreme Court’s 116th justice — and its first Black woman — after three Republicans joined Democrats to advance her nomination in a Monday vote. Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Mitt Romney of Utah become the second and third Republicans to announce support for Jackson, joining Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, who publicly backed the judge last month. All 50 members of the Democratic caucus also backed Jackson in a 53-to-47 procedural vote Monday evening, but the late-breaking support of the two GOP senators represented a minor triumph for President Biden and congressional Democrats who were eager to put a bipartisan stamp of approval on a nominee whom many Republicans had eagerly painted as a soft-on-crime leftist radical. In a statement, Murkowski praised Jackson’s qualifications and temperament, as well as her “demonstrated judicial independence” and “the important perspective she would bring to the court” as a former Supreme Court law clerk, federal public defender, trial judge and now appeals court judge.

  12. If criteria is the line after the Maintenance line , then Monrovia would be considered. SF Runner Up in 2009, SS Runner Up in 2014, State Champ in 2015, SS Runner Up in 2016. that 1 State Title, 2 Semi State Titles, 4 Regional Titles and 4 Sectional Titles within 15 years.

  14. Joe Manchin on Biden's Wealth Tax: 'You Can't Tax Something That's Not Earned.' https://reason.com/2022/03/30/joe-manchin-on-bidens-wealth-tax-you-cant-tax-something-thats-not-earned/ Agreed. Mr. Manchin at least appears to support some form of fiscal sanity in Washington, and hasn't swallowed the MMT kool-aid.

  15. I was a little surprised they kept it in Orchard Park....I kept hearing downtown. The area close to where the Sabres play by the Lake Erie waterfront is nice. Good for them...glad this will keep the Bills at home and not in Toronto or some other city that would have absolutely paid for the team.

  16. Of course she did. Kinda.....But she's smart like that. And like this one - (which is just now coming out - but would have been helpful had the Senate had access to this one) Had the Senators been able to peruse deeper into her cases I kinda think even most Democrats would have been appalled at some of the light sentences on baby sex torture cases. But she is an African American Female Federal Judge, so President Biden keeps a campaign promise and practically dared anyone to vote against her. https://nypost.com/2022/04/03/rapist-gets-lax-sentence-from-jackson-then-nabbed-for-sex-assault/ She gives a child rapist (A CHILD RAPIST) who violently raped a 13 year old (A 13 YEAR OLD) a 16 month prison sentence, 4 years probation and ordered to register as a sex offender. He left town and hid until getting caught 4 years later and went before her again after pleading guilty for failing to register. The prosecutor asked for 2 years behind bars (the low end of federal guidelines). Her response: “I do believe that criminal history is having a disproportionate impact on the sentence that the guidelines prescribe in this particular case in light of what you actually did here,” said Jackson before sentencing Weekes to 12 months, with credit for time served, according to the transcript. (She let him go - in other words) Then (when he would have been in jail serving his 2 year sentence) he is arrested again for sexual assault that the victim eventually dropped because he paid her $2,500 bucks to keep quiet. Then in 2017, he shows up AGAIN in front of her (while already in jail) for multiple probation violations...... Redbord, the prosecutor, couldn’t resist reminding Jackson of her earlier sentence. “The Court imposed a 12-month sentence, I think really giving the defendant every benefit of the doubt and every opportunity to complete a period of treatment, supervision, and really kind of have an opportunity to turn his life around,” he said, according to a transcript. ” … And he failed at every turn to take advantage of that opportunity.” Earlier in the hearing, Redbord referred to Weekes as “the worst defendant that I have ever seen on supervision” and asked for two years to be tacked on to the end of his DC sentence. Even then, Jackson did not agree, imposing her 24-month sentence to partially overlap with his punishment in connection with the assault on his sister-in-law.
