  1. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10107309-tom-brady-to-replace-greg-olsen-as-foxs-no-1-game-analyst-for-2024-nfl-season A crappy deal for Mr. Olsen, I kind of like him in the broadcast booth. But a big break for Tom, he was struggling to make ends meet there for a bit. *sarcasm*

  2. It is interesting when there are coaches that know the alignments a week before they are announced! I think the long gap in time is for lobbying to take place for certain alignments. Also, it is difficult to justify the large salaries of the IHSAA commissioner and his minions if the process was done and completed in a weekend. I think Illinois is able to finish the season, determine what 256 teams qualified for the playoffs, classify them by enrollment into 8 classes of 32, and seed all 8 classes in a single weekend!

  6. Homestead, Dwenger, and Northrop are all annual games and none of those are mentioned. I'm not sure where where and how John Harrell gets his information. I know Snider and EN have a pretty good relationship. Barring a catastrophic event, I don't see that game being canceled. I'm 99.275% sure Snider will be hosting them in Week 2.

  7. Anybody who thinks lobbying for certain alignments doesn't happen is only fooling themselves. Agree completely. For as much as I would hate to find out Saturday night/ Sunday morning who my opponent was next Friday, the efficiency of classifying and seeding is such a stark contrast to the all-in ping pong ball tournament.

  8. I believe that Olsen has a provision in his contract that allows him to leave Fox for another network, but only if it is to take a No. 1 position. I also understand the difference in compensation between the No. 1 team and the No. 2 is pretty substantial.

  9. I was just genuinely curious (and maybe a little jealous?!) how a school such as Brownstown doesn't have a soccer program. Obviously that is a big win for the football program (in terms of numbers)...I don't necessarily buy the argument of the proximity to a big city being necessary for having a soccer program - that doesn't make much sense to me? But, to each their own....

  10. THREE points to stay up. (IHSAA should have stuck with 2pts) *** I feel bad for the programs that get bumped up at 6 points after back-to-back runner-up seasons. In my opinion, you should stay in enrollment class if you don't have a State Champion trophy in your trophy case. My proposal would be this: 1pt = Sectional champion 2pts = Regional champion 3pts = Semistate champion 5pts = State champion Change the bump-up number from 6pts to 7pts-- State+Regional (or better) would still be a bump-up but Semistate+Semistate would not.

  11. a gritty effort last night, not sure what it means in the long run especially if Malik is out for any extended time but they haven't quit which I like. I will say this that team doesn't win that game a month ago. Really happy for Anthony Leal kid deserves it.

  13. He has a few good guys to work under, and 1 very sub par awful one that coached him as a player and added more as a peer.

  14. It takes time to get Chatard, Roncalli, Brebeuf, and Dwenger all in the same sectional and make it look random.

  15. I used to be an enforcer on the basketball team. The coach would send me in, remind me that I had five fouls, and told me not to come back until I'd used them all.

  16. Been drinkin a lot of high quality H20 (and a shit ton of Busch Light) and watching the NFL playoffs. Been tryin to get back into hockey, but just can't do it with my Blackhawks struggling somethin awful. They need an enforcer on their team just don't have one. I knew a guy once who would be perfect for them. Could hardly skate and shoot, but was tough as nails. Can't remember the guys name. Ended up being a hell of a golfer tho.
