Assume to much my friend

These are all things I consumed all week long from local to national media going into the game.

I didn't say IU was that far off, I have CONSISTENTLY been supporting Coach Cig and IU season and turnaround.

The Yappy Yorky has ZERO to do with my alma mater, again, for now the 3rd time, it was all over the weekly lead up across the college football landscape, the sentiment, Big Dog (OSU) vs Little Dog (IU).  It's not that hard to see this all week long.

Why do you keep bringing up Purdue to try to some how get my goat ( shout out to Momma Nowlin) it has ZERO to do with me or my MULTIPLE positive comments I have made all year long about IU and Coach Cig.   Try something else my friend.

So is Sean Payton wrong for what he did against Carolina ?    Again , you are PAID ATHLETES and VERY highly PAID coaches.  it's your job to stop them.   This is not youth football, this is PAID athletes playing the game of football at what they are still calling College football.  IU could have stopped them but they didn't .   Wouldn't that have sent a strong message??

It’s not about getting your goat Coach. Could care less one way or another. It is about pointing out your obvious bias. You can acknowledge it or not, but it’s there.

OSU didn’t have to line up in what absolutely looked like a victory formation and then plug it in. Meant nothing to the game. Then to watch how their QB acted at the end was disappointing. Poor sportsmanship.

I bet if you were the head coach, you wouldn’t have done it. I could be wrong but I bet HOW you win and how your players act absolutely matters.

Instead of questioning Day’s choice you referred to Cignetti as a yapping Yorkie. That’s the Purdue in you…

Nope, that's the analogy used throughout the nation wide experience that is known as what IU football in this Ohio State game became an actual National story for the first time in the history of that game being played and that's the credit to Indiana football this year and coach Cig

They wanted attention like a puppy would want attention

That is the national perspective of this game that was played. It has nothing to do with a Purdue bias

If I had this bias, why would I be sitting here throughout the entire football season in his thread speaking highly of the product that's been put on the field if I held this meatball bias as you're choosing to portray me as

And you're right as a high school football coach, I would not have done that

As a head coach of a power 5 National contender maybe I would consider it different because it's a different ballgame in that world. Don't know won't be in that position

I have spoken very highly of your beloved Hoosiers all year long and especially the head coach.   Yet in this scenario you claim I am just becoming up. Purdue hater essentially which is just odd to me

With that being said, like I said perhaps whether you like it or not. Coach day was sending a message that coach sig. You have a ways to go to catch him, whether you think it's right, wrong or in different and the high stakes game of professional football. I mean college football that's what's being done these days. So like I said before, welcome to the big time you guys made it. Now, let's keep it going and I hope the team that I support will eventually figure it out and join those ranks too.

It's really a simple as that

More than fair to have that sentiment @Komets2727

Welcome to big time college football.

This scenario is not something that just randomly happened to IU.

Should Sean Payton face the same criticism by you IU folk upset at Coach Day?

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/sean-payton-on-panthers-saying-broncos-tried-to-run-up-score-its-the-nfl-play-better

don't give me the its PROFESSIONAL sports..... open your eyes......College is not college anymore

So you mean to tell me that a college running back who is 20 years old has class and goes down on his own yet a 45 years old adult who runs the team has no class? Let me be clear, college players are now pro players as they are paid, but there needs to be class at all levels. I damn sure don’t see an NFL team in that exact scenario pulling that crap. Day is just a baby who likes to bully when he can but dives into a baby carriage when it is done to him

No matter how you slice it, it was a classless move on Day's part. And they guy's too much of an idiot to come up with something other than "we're Ohio State."

Strategy was for the RB on his own to do what he did, his boss, the Head Coach, chose to finish the game the way he chose to do so.   I fully understand having negative reaction to Coach Day's choice, all I am doing is interjecting some opin purpose of doing so from the high stakes / high income world of the B10+/NCAA football is and will continue to become, the true minor system for the NFL with a sprinkle in online class or 3.

Actually, the not EXACT scenario, you are correct, however, THIS IS pretty DARN close and this happened in the Calendar year of 2024, recently fired HC Allen ended up apologizing, and threw the entire team under the bus, since they did it on their own, but it did happen.

It's a good debate really. And what fun would the forum be without fan banter?

I don’t know coach. Like you coach, I follow college football big time. I’ve never heard Coach Cignetti referred to as a “yapping Yorkie” until you typed those words. Those words connect a degree of bias to me.  I get some people didn’t like what he said…especially the old guard…but he has the task of flipping an entire lethargic culture at IU. I think most people get that.

Whether the score was 31-15 or 38-15, means nothing. Lining your team up in a victory formation and then punching it in is ridiculous. Any team in any situation. Then adding in the antics of your immature QB at the end of the game simply paints a horrible picture of their team. Even a local ESPN guy from Cleveland lit up their QB for his actions.

These actions reflect their coach. A coach who has been given everything and yet not lived up to expectations. He has no right to be a smug 💩to a man who has paid his dues, and has the task of flipping a program that’s lost the most D1 games in CFB history.

I contend you wouldn’t have punched it in even if you were in Day’s shoes. You have way too much class.

Guess we disagree on this one…

Notice I never have said I agreed with Coach Day decision, all I have done was provide a different perspective of the WHY it happened or the message/purpose of the decision from Coach Day's perspective being around college coaches, clinics, having friends who have coached at high level College football was the purpose of my decision to provide this on these threads.

Yapping Yorkie is a fun alliteration usage to provide context of the national tone of IU from the last 2 weeks, yes no one used those exact words, I did, correct, the messages, tones nation wide and ESPECIALLY in the Columbus camp was just that, IU coach acting like one of those spastic puppies looking for attention and they have not earned that yet because they don't know what OSU is all about and that level is and was the narrative.

Happy Thanksgiving 🙂

I get it Coach...Regardless the perspective, there was no need to punch it in at the end lined up in a victory formation.  There was no need for a starting QB to troll a coach in front of the cameras.  I get you explain why it may happened, but it should not have.  Ryan Day is who he is, and I get that.

You use the term Yapping Yorkie...I call it a one time attempt at a basketball game to fire up a crowd and help them think differently...what could happen.  Perhaps he would have been better served holding up a Ted Lasso Believe sign, but most have zero issue with what he did to fire up a fan base and try to get them to have a different vision than their traditional bottom feeder view.  Ryan Day has never, ever been in those shoes and I can see why his ego couldn't handle it.  An ego developed while not earning a ton with an elite program.

Anyway, we see this one differently...I will not justify his actions or that of his QB.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well!!!

Well, this thread has officially come full circle now…

All things considered above, too much for me to ask for a “go blue” from the IU fans at this point?

Hey Temp....I used to hope for a 0-0 tie in which both teams absolutely beat the stuffing out of each other.  But now your Blue gets the nod....3-0

Complaining about an opponent punching in an “unnecessary” TD is, IMO, weak sauce. I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction. Just keep the receipt.

Cignetti said very little. Fans like me are complaining. Lining up in a victory formation and then punching it in is weak  sauce IMO. A starting QB repeatedly trolling an opposing coach is a trash move. Cignetti will hold on the receipt.

I never said I approved of what Day did, or any of that stuff. I said it was the act of a wussy to complain about it.

I cannot remember seeing a snow game in Bloomington. This has been a complete game in all aspects by the Hoosiers. Solid response to a tough loss. It might be beneficial at this point that they are not playing in the conference championship.

Where is the Sportsmanship ??  Its 58-0. there is 12 min to go, so far in the 2nd half, Coach Cig ran a fake punt up 38 points, has kept his offensive starters in and throwing PA and Bombs to WRs......  THE BLASPHEMY OF SUCH ACTS !!!!

😆

Sorry 59-0
