You make your claim with a bias towards Jackson as he was a Center Grove player and that is your team. I make my statement based on facts. Jackson was not good last year, period. He did not look good on Saturday either. Cignetti in the postgame interview said it as well. When asked why IU only threw the ball 5 times in the 2nd half, he said poor QB play was the culprit. My statement was that Jackson is not a top ten team QB and I stand on that. Don’t want it to be true at all, but facts are facts. IU goes as far as Rourke takes them. As far as next year, Cignetti will be beating the bushes for another QB1. Show me the quote about Cignetti saying poor play is the reason why they threw the ball 5 times in the second half. What I heard straight from Cignetti at his post conference is that Washington switched up their D, moved to a zone and that led to more of a running attack. (See attached) Rourke is better….WAY more experience than anyone with 5 starts. No one is arguing that Rourke isn’t the best option. But Jackson wasn’t horrible…he was average. He did some things well and not so great. But with his experience, is that so shocking? I’m willing to bet Rourke was not destroying the MAC on his 5th start. Quote

Use Cig’s famous quote of google me and watch his multiple interviews following the Washington game including his on field interview with the Big 10 network and his press conference and then tell me what he said. As far as the 5th start baloney, who cares? My original statement has nothing to do with that. Like many others, the trepidation of Jackson having to play for a top 10, Hell, top 5 team in the country is a worst case scenario for the Hoosiers. 1 Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 You know IU has arrived when their fans are at each other being 8-0 !! You my Hoosier friends and perhaps foes have officially arrived to modern day college football. 🙂. 😆 1 Quote

Look, I want IU to win as much anyone and have waited 50+ years for it, but Jackson ain’t that guy. Anyone that watches football knows it. If IU was their usual bottom dweller self, nobody would care if Jackson was bad, but these are new days for IU. Rourke is legit, can read a defense, and makes good decisions with the football. IU better hope that Rourke stays healthy or else that train is stuck 1 Quote

Shocking to hear, but that is long term success and you know what you are getting. If I am IU, I am NOT hitting QB PORTAL, develop Jackson, flip HS 5 * all good vs sending the message to your squad at the most important position QB that the guys we have here are not good enough so getting someone to take your job/reps. Vicious cycle to play imo. I think Cig and staff know QB is the most important position on the field by far and will do whatever is necessary to make sure there isn't a drop off my this year to next. Whether that be Tayven, a portal QB, or potentially the incoming 5* freshman remains to be seen, but I trust the staff to make that decision. FWIW, Cig and staff have dipped into the portal the last 3 seasons(2 at JMU/IU this year) for a QB and have turned the latter two into all-conference player with Rourke likely to receive serious consideration depending on his availability the rest of the year. 1 Quote

IU is in survival mode right now until Rourke is cleared to play and the play-calling definitely suggested a game-managing role...of that I felt he did fine. Quote

Irishman Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Hoosiers dominated from the 2nd quarter on. I was worried that Rourke may have come back too soon, but got hot as the game progressed. First time ever for IU to be 9-0 2 Quote
Komets2727 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Indiana 47 -Michigan State 10, Hoosiers trail for the first time all year at 10-0 then outscore the Spartans 47-0. Just wow!!! Rourk was unbelievable again, the running attack was great, and the defense just clamped down after being down 10-0 and causing 8 straight 3 and outs over the last 3 quarters. Great win!!! 2 Quote
PHJIrish Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 It was good to see if the Hoosiers could come back from an early deficit, and they did! Quite handily! Quote

Irishman Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 3 teams ranked ahead of Indiana, Texas A&M, Clemson, and Iowa State fall yesterday. The Hoosiers SHOULD break into the top 10 now. Quote

A little history from the links below. Looks like the Bison was the IU mascot from 1965-69. It was pulled from the bison on the state seal of Indiana. Many would love to see it returned. My son's ROTC unit at IU was known at The Bison. https://www.idsnews.com/article/2024/03/indiana-hoosiers-mascots-bring-back-bison-bloomington#:~:text=An animal once native to,the icon for its business. https://www.homefieldapparel.com/blogs/homefield-history/iu-bison-mascot-history https://www.heraldtimesonline.com/story/news/local/2024/07/12/indiana-university-mascots-bison-mr-hoosier-pride-ox-the-bulldog-what-is-ius-mascot-hoosiers/74358069007/ Another hitch: the mascot looked, arguably, terrifying. “It’s a beautiful head but it looks like the devil with a cheerleader in it,” said Bob Dro, assistant athletic director, in a 1969 IDS article. Facing a litany of issues and criticisms, the bison was retired in 1969, not even surviving through the turn of the decade. The bison lives on in Bloomington, though, still serving as the mascot of Nick’s English Hut today. Definitely can purchase merch with the IU Bison. Just gave a stuffed IU bison to one of our grandson's to recognize his Dad's time there at IU and the ROTC program. Hail Bison!! Edited November 4, 2024 by Bash Riprock 1 Quote
Komets2727 Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Never thought I would be typing this, but IU is a whopping 14 point favorite over Michigan. As long as Rourke stays healthy, I got IU 38-17 winners in this game 2 Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Please have IU vs ND in round 1 of Playoffs. The Reversible jacket game would be LIT !!!! 1 Quote

To also hear analysts call the Michigan State and Michigan games as "trap games" for IU is something I just still can't comprehend. I think there will be a fired up Wolverine team coming into Btown...I predict a tough game. Quote

I kind of think the opposite, they got rocked by Oregon at home and I think they know their season is finished. They have no offense, no QB, and I think the IU defense is totally underrated at this point. A healthy Rourke will have his way with that defense Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 If this Born on 3rd base coach at Michigan has any sort of chops to him then he has the Wolverines prepared and give IU all they want. If he truly was born on 3rd base (my opinion, don't need to see anything else) then IU dog walks them in Bloomington Quote
