Westfield, down 10-0 to Carmel at about the 9 minute mark of the 2nd quarter last night, when weather suspended the game, had a strong Saturday and came back to win their third straight game against Carmel, 17-13. As the score indicates, a defensive battle. No scoring in that final 9+ minutes of the 2nd quarter. Westfield finally got on the board in the 3rd on a 25 yard field goal. Carmel came right back and hit on an almost identical distance field goal to make it 13-3. Westfield stopped a Carmel drive with an interception in the end zone on the last play of the 3rd quarter. The Rocks finally found the end zone, now down 13-10.  Westfield shut out Carmel the rest of the game, scoring their final TD on a one yard run by Webster about midway through the 4th. They had a huge sack on the Carmel QB on the next Carmel drive on 4th down, picked up one first down, then ran out the clock.

Cruz was hurt late in the game in in their game with Bloomington North and I don't know if he played or not against the Patriots or if he had limitations since I don't know the specifics of the game. Needless to say, THN needed to get that losing streak monkey off their back and they did in surprising fashion and like you said, congrats to them.

Oh yeah. I forgot he was hurt. That could have made a difference.

Actually, I found out later today that Cruz did play in the TH North game and had guided them to the 20-0 early lead before ending up losing the lead and game.

My thing is why were games officially rescheduled for today to be cancelled? Wouldn’t you have confirmed officials and everything before releasing it was rescheduled?

Probably to lock down families/players first.  Can always cancel, but the longer you go without being definitive, even without everything fully worked out, the more likely you are to lose out on the players/families/support for the game.  Also, probably had situations where they had some potential crews/officials that weren't sure if they were doing JV on Saturday or varsity.  Not saying that I favor it, but easier at 10:00 pm on Friday to say you have a reschedule date/time, then work to get the details worked out, only to cancel Saturday morning than it is wait until Saturday morning to let your team know that you are playing Saturday afternoon.  Probably more chance of success in the former rather than the latter.

After winning their first ever 11-on-11 IHSAA game last week over Irvington Prep Academy, Faith Christian gets a stunning welcome to 1A ball at the hands of Clinton Central 68-0.

The Eagles have to get that youth feeder program developed, and also get some bit-o-honey dealers doing the rounds at the other Tippecanoe county football hotbeds.

I'm curious as to some games were called final, a few called no contest, and the rest will be resumed today (Saturday)

In the case of Chatard/Hanover Central, travel was certainly an issue - Hanover Central would have to basically drive 3-3.5 hours to get home on Friday then turn around and come back.  Between 12-14 hours on the bus for the kids over a 2 day period.

Add that HC's only score was a 1st Q kickoff return TD with Chatard effectively shutting down their offense otherwise.

It was the smart decision for HC.  No conference championship was at stake, its not an historic rivalry,  obviously it doesn't affect playoffs (because no regular season games do), etc.

Take your medicine and send your kid to Cathedral. You can justify Westfield's futility all you want. It's just like Chatard. Play in the wimpy north of 6A and feel good about your program for the season until the tourney. #JVAllstars

in the meantime, we'll play two classes up and deal with it. Prob beat all the 5000 enrollment teams when it counts and grab 6A drip. And you'll still be whining about fairness.

That surprises me. Good for THN though. It seems the competition is wide open this year. I’m sure the cream will start to rise in the next few games as coaches make adjustments. We will start to see who the contenders really are.

Makes sense in this case. So I'll assume that the decision had to be made amongst the coaches/ADs of both schools as to end it as is, end it as a no contest, or resume play the next day.

Now where did I complain about fairness? I was there both evenings, and this was a hard fought, mostly defensive battle. It was one of those game where both teams deserved the W.

No way would I pay tens of thousands of $$$ for a kid to go to high school. Unlike my years at Cathedral, when they and Brebuf were the only local college prep schools, many in the burbs have just as good if not better academic and athletic facilities Now if my kid was a super athlete, I'm sure Cathedral would supply an all expense paid trip each school day to 56th and Emerson. Westfield has no choice to where they play, since they are in big boy 6A football. Can't move up any further.

Perhaps your Irish should concentrate on how to beat Brownsburg :)

How it ended. North was scrappy, but they ran into a buzzsaw.
