I stand by that statement, but mean no disrespect to Elkhart at all. Snider should have had 24 points in this game, an inexplicable fumble on the one yard line late in the game and a missed field goal. Yeah, I know we had a defensive TD as well. Elkhart’s defensive line was almost on par with Warren Central, they were dominant, but that secondary and even linebacking core were beatable.

Carroll completely shut down Snider when they played several weeks ago, 30-6. Snider moved the ball much better against Elkhart than they did Carroll. We won’t even talk about what Warren did to Snider’s offense.

Bottom line, Elkhart’s defense was very good, offense not so much. Ranking the defenses Snider played this year I had Warren Central, Carroll, and Elkhart in that order. Much respect to all 3 teams!!!

You can stand by it all you want , the fact of the matter is,Carroll's defense is not head and Shoulders better than Elkhart's Defense . Elkhart just held Sniders Offense to 7 points , not including coulda , shoulda and woulda . Would you like to make a friendly wager that Snider scores  more than 7 points on Carroll  Friday ?

So talk me though why the Snider/Carroll game was so lopsided the first time around.

My memory is foggy.

Do you expect this week to be any different?

Is the winner just fodder for Crown Point in the regional?

Carroll could do no wrong the first time around against Snider. Sullivan placed the ball perfectly every time he passed the ball, even Snider's two D1 defensive backs had a hard time defending his pin point precision.

I think this week could be different because of the improvement on the offensive side of the ball. They have some different looks and one player player in particular that Carroll didn't see the first time around. Tippmann and Isaacs are also very good with adjustments, so yes, it could be different this time around. I don't expect a wide margin of victory. On the flip side, there's not a coach in the state of Indiana who knows the inner workings of the Panther program better than Coach Dinan. Couple that with the possibility that Snider might be without their Notre Dame commit defensive back, and Jimmy Sullivan could take advantage of that. Gimmie Carroll, but in a closer game. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Snider won.

Crown Point's been my favorite since Week 2, and I'll stick with that. But, Carroll's offensive is capable of giving anyone fits and Snider's defense is good enough to keep them competitive in any game against anyone. Fodder? No. Do I still have Crown Point as the favorite? Yes.

Lol, just teasing ya. But yeah, Snider could use Rod Friday night against Sullivan, for sure.

Crown Point is your favorite in what exactly?

A regional matchup against the Carroll/Snider winner, or more?

When I say favorite, I keep thinking of the northern half of the state. I've got Crown Point and Westfield even up with Hamilton Southeastern not far behind. I just don't think the Royals have been as consistent as the Rocks. Crown Point might be better than last year, which could be dangerous for anyone they run into. But if they square off against Westfield, the Rocks are going to be VERY motivated to avenge last year's loss. It's hard to say, I'm basing this off of scores and internet chatter. I've not seen either of these teams in person. That being said, we can't overlook the possibility of Fishers taking on Snider for the semi-state title. Gotta love high school football.

Be honest now, you know Snider should have had 14 points as they were first and goal on the one yard line with 2 minutes to go and had a bad snap, that had nothing to do with defense. Missed field goal as well, nothing to do with defense. Snider could have scored again at the end of the game but just kneeled it out.

As far as how many Snider scores against Carroll Friday night, who knows? I know for a fact that Carroll held them to 6 points in the first matchup and held them to less yards than Elkhart did. That is fact, not conjecture

No way does Snider win a shootout with Carroll so the game needs to be the winner having no more than 17 points. Using Fry as a lead blocker for Snider has paid dividends since the loss to Carroll, freshman running back as also exploded onto the scene for Snider and he is a bruising type of runner.

Honestly, in my opinion, Snider needs some help from Carroll as well. They need 2-3 turnovers, maybe a defensive touchdown, to beat Carroll. Sullivan is a great QB

That may be true , the Carroll game was 6 weeks ago and possibly Sniders Offense is much improved since then . Still doesn't make Carroll's defense head and shoulders better than Elkhart's . I might give you slightly better and that is debatable. Playing Elkhart and Carroll in back to back weeks will tell us much more .

I'm still not sold on CP winning a Semistate game against an INDY area team this year . They may win the Regional but it ends there . Crown Point has only played 3 teams with a winning record .

I agree with you, but several on here think CP is coming out of the North again. I think if it is CP vs. Westfield it will be a great game. I would pick Westfield if the game were today, but lots of things to happen over the next 2 weeks to change my mind

Red flag for sure, but the few posters on here from that area claim this year's team is better than last.

We'll know much more Friday .

Correct. Not much chatter, well, none at all regarding Penn. Justified? Or quietly lurking?

Not much to say , Crown Point should win Friday . It will be by how much that will determine my thought process . Penn's defense is playing better , pretty much shut Elkhart down the entire game and held them to 7 points . Penn's problem has been the offense .

Well, they're in good company. Seems to be contagious this year.

Would be awesome if Penn pulls the shocker and takes out CP and Snider takes out Carroll . Be like old times for the Regional .

We would have a good old slobber knocker with a 3-2 final score as both offenses 💩the bed

Technically, 4 teams with a winning record if you count the team from Arizona. Crown Point is essentially a HCC team stuck playing a schedule beneath their ability. I think it would be wise of them to drop Lowell, but that may never happen considering that is a very long standing south Lake County rivalry game. No idea what they have planned for Week 2 next year. And the DAC is a 5A Conference until Lake Central and Portage figure out how to play football again or Penn and Elkhart get brought in.

I wouldn't count them out against Westfield or one of the HSE schools just becuase of their schedule. They have talent everywhere including high end talent (5 D1 recruits, 4 if you don't count Indiana State), very good line play, and elite coaching. They've steamrolled their entire schedule, which is what I would expect from a potential Top 5 team not playing an HCC or MIC caliber schedule.

That's not really saying much. From a 6A standpoint Elkhart had the worst offense I've personally seen this year.

Nice! His sister lives or at least used to live in Carmel. I randomly met his parents in Carmel a year or so ago. VERY nice people. Mom was proudly wearing a vintage Steelers shirt.

Curious to know what Elkhart games you seen? Could Elkhart's low offensive production have anything to do with the team they were playing ? Indianapolis Cathedral has a very high powered offense . What if I only seen the Brownsburg game where they only scored 14 points ? Should I think that Cathedrals offense is bad, or that Brownsburg's defense is really good ? The Elkhart offense might be the worst you've seen , but far from the worst in 6A .

I have to agree. Would probably be safe to say that their offense is in the bottom half of 6A. And that's not an insult to their program considering there's about 20 teams in 6A that would be considered "very good" football teams regardless of class. They have some big kids and some athletes on that side of the ball, but something's obviously missing. Their "athletes" burnt Snider on a few pretty big plays, but ultimately couldn't do much after the "big play."
