Snider rolled into the '94 5A Semi State at Portage with multiple charter busses and completely packed the visitor side, which was before Portage replaced their bleachers and had a fairly large visitor side. No chance that happens in 2024. To easy to avoid the long drive west on 30 and just watch the game on Summit City Sports. Quote

And that's not an insult to their program considering there's about 20 teams in 6A that would be considered "very good" football teams regardless of class. They have some big kids and some athletes on that side of the ball, but something's obviously missing. Their "athletes" burnt Snider on a few pretty big plays, but ultimately couldn't do much after the "big play." And those big plays were on poorly thrown jump balls. I just don't understand why a team would go spread and try to throw the ball around the field when accuracy is a major issue. 2 Quote

They may win the Regional but it ends there . Crown Point has only played 3 teams with a winning record . Especially if they have to travel down this way. I'd assume it would be a Friday night game like last year, and not moved to Saturday? By the way, is that a decision made by the home team, both schools agreement, or an IHSAA decision as to what day those long road trip games are played. I remember when Westfield played at Tell City for a 2A Semi-State. That game was moved to a late afternoon Saturday start. Quote

Correct, in the 80's and 90's it was common to see 1500-2500 fans travel to see those games. Now you're looking at 200-800 depending on how deep in the playoffs we get. However, I'm willing to bet Merrillville brought approximately 1500 to Fort Wayne last year. Quote

I've always understood it to be the away team's choice, with some coaches not wanting to veer from the routine of a Friday night game, or the alternative, choosing Saturday and not making that long trip after a day of being in school. Especially in recent years in 3A/4A, where Lawrenceburg and East Central have been regularly running into the Gibson Southern and Memorial's of the world, those always ended up on Saturdays. 2021 Lawrenceburg at Gibson Southern still one of the best atmospheres I've seen. Since your loss to Brownsburg , you have taken everyone behind the woodshed for an old fashioned beating . Quote

I also look for HSE to take out Fishers, and our conference game with them went to OT. Maybe the loss at Brownsburg was a good thing, because that game was right there for the taking, but they just didn't get it done. Who knows! Quote

That was one of the three times that Westfield went for it on 4th and goal. This one he was stopped short. Same with one other time. I do believe that if Melvin is in the game in the 4th, they may well have won and be undefeated at this time. Quote
BTF Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 The Top 8 looks pretty good. Nine through twelve is a crapshoot though. The gap Temp has between Fishers and Snider is way too wide. Probably shouldn't be a gap at all. I might even place Carroll ahead of Fishers.............body of work. Quote

I've been saying the last few years that you're one of the least biased posters on the forum. That stock is going downhill fast. Transitive property only seems to make sense when it favors Indy. What you're telling me is that Snider would beat HSE this year and Ben Davis last year? C'mon Temp. You even mentioned earlier in the year that Snider's best shot at beating WC was in Week 1, given that WC would improve throughout the season. Is Carroll no better now than they were in Week 1? Based on your logic, I'm very close to anointing Snider as the mythical all around champion of 2023 if you want to keep playing this game. 1 Quote

With Sturgill at QB for Fishers I would keep Fishers above Carroll. Without Sturgill I would place Carroll ahead. Their back-up has played solid, but I feel Sturgill brings a lot more to their offense with his mobility along with throwing the ball. He got knocked out with just over 6 minutes in the 4th qtr with a 27-24 lead in a Week 5 31-30 loss to Brownsburg. He was 17 of 29 for 277 yds 1 TD 0 Int, and had 8 carries for 40 yds 1 TD before being injured. Not sure if he will be back for the Tigers this year, but with him they are a very solid team. 2 Quote

BDGiant93 Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 I'm not a betting man, but I'd take 25/1 odds on Ben Davis. I'd probably lose my money, but I'd take 'em. I think that's fair, too. Quote
