Nah, the fighting with Carmel over land ended when Westfield became a city in 2008. That shut Carmel out as far as their aggressive goal of annexing land in Washington Township, which is the township where Westfield is located.

Westfield and Brownsburg are definitely Metro-Indy. I consider Marion and all the surrounding counties as part of Metro-Indy, however I believe the official Metro-Indy consensus includes all of Marion and the donut counties as well as Brown, Tipton, Morgan, and Shelby counties.

I'll go Westfield for the state title . It is very hard to beat a very good team twice in the same season . If Brownsburg is able to do this , then they have ran the gauntlet and kudos to them . Add in the fact Brownsburg should win the boy's wrestling state title in a few months , they have it going on right now .

Even with fans staying home and streaming on the internet? I would imagine the biggest crowds came in the 80's and 90's.

Westfield has brought a terrific crowd to their State Championship games.

Brownsburg should have a big crowd it has been many years since they have been in the State Championship in football (never at LOS) last time they competed it was at the RCA Dome.

It's a hard atmosphere to beat for the price. I don't care much for the indoor venue for NFL games, but it's pretty legit for high school. Especially when you can pick your seat.

I was surprised how small Cathedral's section was compared to Westfield's, which went beyond the end zones and around into the end zone. This has been the case for all four games that Westfield has played in LOS. My thinking was Cathedral was just used to playing in those title games. For Westfield, that was their first time since 2A in 1992 against Luers.

My 1st State Finals.  And though I wasn't concerned about the fans in the stands.  When I watched the broadcast later, it was obvious and apparent that Westfield brought THE crowd.

Again in 2021 vs. Center Grove 

I wish the best for the Westfield program.  Time to bring a blue ribbon home!

Sack up and actually tell a coach from Crown Point, Penn, Carroll, etc while reffing one of their games that they’re just playing for a red ribbon. Nobody is disputing that is how history has played. You condescendingly said they shouldn’t actually believe they have a chance. Nothing will change for Crown Point or Carroll’s of 6A North if they just accept your defeatist attitude.

Nope...  It HASN'T and won't until the Northern teams can look beyond "conference" competition as the barometer of success.  

Defeatist?  I prefer to look at the situation as a decades' (+) worth of PROOF of Central Indiana (and the donut) dominance at the 6A level.  

What are you looking for? A fight between myself and a HS Coach?  Be serious!  

Video, Numbers, History doesn't lie!  I'm a Northern guy....and it'd be great when someone can break through at LOS.  So if that's something that ruffles your feathers, so be it!  You are arguing the same side of the coin, that I am.  Unfortunately, you seem to think that I have some sort of 'agenda'. 

As for reffing a game.... I care less who wins or loses EVERY GAME!  It's a play to play situation that determines how I view things.  

I only offered a "fan" suggestion when allowed and not constrained by the situation(s).  That is NOT officiating at the time and place.... I'm not a graduate of any Indiana HS.  

As for this discussion...there's NO WAY that I can ever begin to see you @Boilernation to see anything other than a disparagement of an official who has offered a personal suggestion for the Northern 6A teams to try and compete with Central (Southern as determined by the geographic selection with IHSAA FB) in order to try and level their outlook and bring home a title.

This IS what I said....  Not YOUR paraphrase and changes of my posting that only mentioned particular Northern schools!

Here are some facts!  Only 2 teams north of Lafayette have won the largest class in high school football since 1978.  

Penn - 1983, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000

FW Snider - 1992

Portage - 1977

Merrillville - 1976

Valparaiso - 1975

South Bend Washington - 1973

 

Only 10 times since the playoffs started in 1973 have teams from north of Lafayette won the largest class.  Penn has won 5 of the 10.  Nobody from the DAC has won it since 1977.

Again, if you officiate a DAC or SAC or NIC game next season with a 6A team I suggest you own this comment in person and ask those coaches if they honestly believe they have a chance. Of course history is massively against the true North in the largest class. Still doesn’t make it a condescending comment, imo. Especially from someone who sometimes shares a field with those coaches and players.
