This happened in one of the college games yesterday, and the color commentator said that he didn't think it was a horse collar, but even if it was, the QB was in the pocket, thus no horse collar could be called. Please don't get your rules knowledge from announcers. They don't do it intentionally, but they are the biggest cause for the lack of rules knowledge by fans. The college rule changed this year to remove the exception for the runner in the pocket. NFHS has never had that exception that i recall. Quote

I now have one foot on board with Crown Point…LN was a terrible matchup for them in my opinion and they are now out of the way. You could make a case for all four teams left. At last…parity! All of the games I was able to watch were fantastic. Lawrence North was a problem for anyone, Crown Point included. Brownsburg with an excellent drive to win it late against LN. Center Grove and Warren Central was a great one to watch. CP looked better than I anticipated which is awesome! 5A action was good. New Pal and Chatard in 4A was really good! Some real quality football played around the state last Friday! 1 Quote

Coach Nowlin Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Tough call on Horse Collar....... the momentum of the tackle in my judgement (see what I did there) was with the LN player and his left arm across the chest of the QB, YES the LN player had the back name plate, Yes, the jersey was tugged slightly, however, the sack was because the player got there in time, and tackled him from the side, wraping up right hand first then followed immediately with the left arm across the chest plate of the QB which resulted in the Sack. I contend if the left arm across the chest by the stronger LN player than the Brownsburg QB didn't result in a more lack of better words violent body to ground, then the yellow hanky stays in said pocket. Big Break for Brownsburg, which they proceeded to capitalize on Quote

There was also a missed hands to the face by the Offensive Lineman to where he actually grabbed the facemask and pulled. I initially missed it until I slowed it down. Quote
temptation Posted November 18, 2024 Author Posted November 18, 2024 Updated Odds: Westfield - 3/1 Brownsburg - 4/1 Center Grove - 4/1 Crown Point - 5/1 Quote
Footballking16 Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Penalties and turnovers finally reared its ugly head for Lawrence North. Credit to Brownsburg for hanging in there and having the stones to go for 2 at the end, but always thought LN's biggest obstacle would be themselves. I'm rolling with Center Grove for here on out. Lawrence North probably the only team left whop can outscore the Trojans and they are no longer alive. CG playing its best football as of late. Quote
Boilernation Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Looks like Crown Point had their own chartered busses and did not take the Indian Express. I drove by Riverview Health about 30 minutes ago. Lights are on. Field looks perfect. Go ‘Dogs!! 1 Quote

It's sad that it's the truth. I think what it's going to take is having some of these bigger northern schools forming a conference. State Line Northwest: Lafayette Jeff Harrison McCutcheon Crown Point Merrillville Valpo or Michigan City or Lake Central or whoever State Line Northeast: Penn Elkhart Warsaw Carroll Homestead Snider 5 conference, 1 conference crossover that rotates on a 6 year home and away basis, week 9 is 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, 6v6, 2 non-con for going to Chicago, Indy, Michigan or Northrop. Still I don't know if it has enough juice. Also please point out if I left anyone obvious out. Edited November 23, 2024 by adambetz 1 Quote

Yuccaguy Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 (edited) As I said before, and got THROUGHLY "roasted" by Da Region guys..... Unless and until the Northern schools in 6A start playing beyond US24 on a regular basis and getting a feel for this type of play, the (true) North is just playing for the red ribbon in 6A. I stand by that; To paraphrase a statement by Barry Goldwater in 64 (ugh).... "In Your Heart you know I'm Right". Edited November 23, 2024 by Yuccaguy clarity 1 Quote
Footballking16 Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 In Columbus for the biggest IU game of all-time and saw Westfield beat Crown Point 30-7? Yikes Quote

I so badly want a DAC team to break through in 6A. Truly demoralizing that one of the most talented and well coached teams the DAC has put out in YEARS was thoroughly dominated. Oh well, at least my new conference and the one where I spend most of my Friday nights will be taking center stage at LOS. 1 hour ago, PDB26 said: I think they did. Not that it really mattered one bit and it was just a run on joke about teams taking yellow busses across the state in 2024, but I saw another post that had a picture on the inside. They have chartered bus seating in them. Quote

Only a few of those schools have the enrollment and talent to even think about competing with the HCC, Cathedral, CG, Ben Davis, Warren, etc. And they'll still be at a sizeable talent mismatch when actually on the field against one of the aformentioned teams. Indy teams that compete in their own weight class are just as human as anyone else. Eleven of the top twelve enrollment schools are from the Indy Metro, and that includes six HCC programs. The top three enrollment schools..........drumroll.............27 state titles, lol. The rest of 6A are just sparing partners for the Indy schools to stock their trophy cases. 3 minutes ago, temptation said: Honest question…not trolling. Could a DAC all star squad win 6A? All it would take is two DAC schools. Combine Crown Point and Merrillville with Buzea leading the way with Seiss as associate head coach, and they'd win state every year. Quote
