If you build it...they will come..the stadium being on campus will be a magnet for alum n with open enrollment the talent may surprise us..the feeder system is strong with Blackhawk winning city again..some of those former panthers who are southwest are already making travel arrangements..just need to have a gr8 4 year run of talent n it could happen as long as tippy stays.. Center Grove is the only program that's been able to break through. The landscape of the HCC is pretty damn good, but until one of them breaks through, they're no different than Crown Point or Carroll. May not be able to keep including Carmel in your example soon....5 years since a state title appearance. Heck, they haven't made it out of the sectional 4 years in a row. Been 6 years since Warren has been to state. Maybe that changes this year. Quote

Right, but it still doesn't take away from the fact that those four have owned big division football. Quote

At the end of the day, it's the transfer portal that's going to put teams over the top. Even the large schools are doing it. Warren Central, Elkhart, Crown Point, etc. Now, that being said, I'm never a believer in poaching another high school's players. But I wouldn't hesitate to do it at the middle school level in order to remain competitive. Quote

But it's hard to argue that Ben Davis, Warren Central (teetering), and Center Grove aren't still right there. I'd say the #4 program right now is a fight between Brownsburg, Westfield, and Crown Point. Quote
Tippy Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 The last time that a team from far northwest Indiana won state in the largest class, was Portage in 1977. Merrillville won state in 1976 and Valpo won state in 1975. Quote

Warren has improved this year and could reverse their trends. I didn't mention anything about BD or CG. 1 Quote
temptation Posted November 13, 2024 Author Posted November 13, 2024 We have spent enough time on here criticizing Crown Point. Let's not deflect from the fact that the HCC still folds annually in the playoffs and not let them off the hook. They have 3 of the 8 teams remaining in 6A but that number could be down to 1 after Friday night. Quote

I think we all thought the season would go better for BD than it started out. I had no idea they'd struggle as much as they did early. They got it together, but it was too late for the record to be saved. Quote

I want to know when anyone not named Carmel , Center Grove , Ben Davis or Warren Central will win a 6A title . THAT'S my point! Why someone would think is about a specific school, is beyond me? Dammit, I'd like a NORTHERN school to win the damned thing....SOON! Quote

Admittedly, even as a DAC apologist, I'd probably pull for the South in 5A out of spite if the Pirates make it. 1 Quote
