Thought I would get it started 24 hours after the draw.

Feel free to add your thoughts…

A few storylines?

1.  Can Penn provide any resistance to Crown Point in Sectional 1?

2.  Collision course between Snider and Carroll in Sectional 2?  Can the Panthers put up a better fight this time?

3.  Can Carmel rebound and become the team that put a scare into Westfield in week 2 or do the Shamrocks cruise?

4.  Sectional 4 is likely the most balanced and you could make an honest case for 3 teams to win it.

5.  Brownsburg is on the clock again.  BD is playing better.  Nothing to worry about in Sectional 5, right?

6.  A potential Cathedral/LN matchup in the Sectional 6 final has the potential to be the game of the second weekend.

7.  Could Warren’s freshman team win Sectional 7?  Hearing the first round matchup between Warren/Tech has been relocated to Warren but unsure of the reason.  Could this affect the location of the regional?

8.  Is Center Grove finally vulnerable in Sectional 8?  Both FC and CN have been hot as of late whereas the Trojans have dropped 3 games for the first time since 2019 and their 13 game sectional championship streak is on the line.

I think Carmel might be too far gone this year with recent results, even feel Zionsville could make that one interesting in Round 1.

If things go how I think they should from just mapping things out roughly, seems like the path sends Westfield back up to Crown Point this year.

Really wish IHSAA would change scenarios for what determines hosting the next week, if things work out for certain teams, they could have 3 of 4 games prior to LOS home, where their Semistate opponent’s only home game might have been week before. Wishful thinking but would require real progressive thoughts of seeding or considering neutral sites by them.

Tbh no Lou Holtz speak here..Elkhart might be the sleeper n they do have enough talent to win this sectional...not sure how they flew under the radar all year

1. Interesting to see if Penn can give a game to mighty Crown Point

2. I think Snider vs. Elkhart is a 50/50 game so Carroll could be playing either. I do think if Snider plays Carroll again it will be closer

3. Westfield easily, Carmel is toast and has serious issues with their program

4. I think this is a toss up, not sure yet who I got

5. Brownsburg or bust, if not this year, when?

6. LN vs. Cathedral in the sectional final? Sign me up!!!

7. Warren Central all day long. Might be worst sectional competitive wise in the entire state

8. I am still rolling with CG

6A Sectional 1:

Coach Buzea will lead his Crown Point Bulldogs to another Sectional Championship. The Bulldogs will be too much for the Penn Kingsman to overcome. Crown Point handles Penn taking the Sectional 1 crown.

6A Sectional 2:

Coach Tippman will have his Snider Panthers ready to play knocking off Elkhart setting up a rematch with Coach Dinan's Carroll Chargers after they beat Northrop easily. Carroll wins the Sectional 2 crown after the Panthers put up a big fight in a closer 26-20 type of game. This sets up Carroll to give the Crown Point one of their biggest tests this season in Regionals.

6A Sectional 3:

I will take the Zionsville Eagles to end a terrible season for the Carmel Greyhounds. Westfield cruises over Harrison WL as the Raiders have had a decent season. Coach Miracle leads the Westfield Shamrocks to his first Sectional title over Zionsville.

6A Sectional 4:

Coach Sharpe gives teams fits with his ball control offense and Noblesville is no easy out. If Fishers QB is healthy they win a close one with the Noblesville Millers. Coach Kelly leads his HSE Royals to a victory over the Homestead Spartans setting up a rematch with the Fishers Tigers. HSE vs Fishers is such a tough game to pick, I will take the HSE Royals to avenge a earlier loss in the rivalry game.

6A Sectional 5:

Brownsburg cruises over an improved but not quite there Avon team. Ben Davis has improved and dispatches Pike to set-up a rematch at Ben Davis between the Bulldogs and the Giants. Brownsburg gets the revenge they have waited 365 days for and has a small moment of relief before they have to turn around and head into a showdown for Sectional 5 vs Sectional 6 Regional.

6A Sectional 6:

Cathedral cruises past North Central in round 1. Lawrence North dispatches Lawrence Central after the Bears put up a fight setting up a Cathedral at Lawrence North showdown for the Sectional Championship. My heart wants to go with Cathedral with the Irish exploiting mistakes that the Wildcats tend to make, this is a tough one to pick and a doozy of a game. I feel like Lawrence North might make a play or 2 with their tremendous athletes to get Coach Mallory a Sectional Championship at home.

6A Sectional 7:

Definitely the weakest Sectional in 6A, I would much rather see Valpo, Warsaw, Whiteland, Merrillville, or Lafayette Jefferson in 6A than Tech to be honest Whitelandf is the only team of those that would go to the South bracket. The Perry Meridian Falcons have been trying to play spoiler and will handle their rival Southport. Warren Central will beat Tech easily and are way too much for the Perry Meridian Falcons, The Warriors cruise to another easy sectional Championship.

6A Sectional 8:

The Franklin Central Flashes at the Columbus North Bulldogs is a tough one to pick. Both teams have played very well and I like what Columbus North has been doing this year. I will pick Coach West to lead his Flashes in a close win over the Bulldogs. Center Grove will walk through Jeffersonville. Coach Moore will lead the CG Trojans to another Sectional Championship at Center Grove, the Flashes will put up a good fight but the Trojans offense will be too much for them.

1. Penn is not a good Football team this year , they may lose to Lake Central and never see CP .

2. Elkhart isn't much better than Penn . If Elkhart does manage to squeak by Snider , I don't see them beating Carroll . Penn or Elkhart don't survive Their Sectionals .

Yep, happened to Westfield last year, just one home game, and that was against HSE in the regional. I believe CP had only one road game. If Westfield does have to travel up there again this season, hopefully the school will shell out the $$$ and send the team up on charters, and not school busses.

Exactly what I was referring to haha, but in the 2016 state title run Westfield was the benefactor of the same scenario with only being away Round 1 at Jeff then home the next 3 weeks. The Semistate against Snider is still one of my favorite games attended with the pouring rain and coming down from 10-0 to tie it up at half.

CP's only road game was Regional at Penn

Obviously would love to see Westfield get homefield against CP, but also is fun seeing games in different parts of the state, had a great time eating and walking around the Square during the day up there last year.

@GOLDRUSH1985  Penn should see CP, however, Valpo and Lake Central face each other on October 18, which will give a clearer picture of how they stack up directly.

When Penn faced Valpo on August 23, it was a close game, with Penn barely securing a 49-42 victory. While Penn had some early-season issues, they have since stabilized and improved. Despite some remaining challenges, Penn appears to be in better shape than they were during that initial matchup with Valpo, positioning them as a more formidable opponent moving forward. Valpo unfortunately did not fix their issues much (if at all) after that game with Penn. I reference that game because Lake Central and Valpo share several opponents on their football schedules

  • LaPorte – Lake Central won (24-12 on Sep. 20), Valparaiso won (42-7 on Sep. 6).
  • Michigan City – Lake Central lost (14-20 on Sep. 27), Valparaiso won (20-14 on Sep. 13).
  • Crown Point – Lake Central lost (14-42 on Sep. 13), Valparaiso lost (7-41 on Sep. 27).
  • Chesterton – Lake Central lost (16-17 on Oct. 4), Valparaiso won (22-21 on Sep. 20).
  • Merrillville – Lake Central lost (10-43 on Oct. 11), Valparaiso lost (7-35 on Oct. 4).
  • Portage – Lake Central won (23-21 on Sep. 6), Valparaiso won (42-32 on Oct. 11)

Looking ahead to the first round of Sectionals, given Penn's upward trajectory and performance that Lake Central has been giving this year, Penn is in a better position to advance. Lake Central will need to deliver an exceptional performance to overcome Penn.

What makes you think Penn is in better shape since Valpo ? They have only played 2 descent teams since. They got shellacked by Mishawaka and lost a close one to Elkhart . Hope your not speaking of wins over the South Bend schools ???

Mishawaka has had an incredible season! As @temptation mentioned, the loss to Elkhart was a tight 7-3 battle.

Since their game against Valpo, Penn has made significant progress. Their team chemistry has improved and the players' on-field communication has become more effective, leading to better overall performance. Additionally, Penn has refined both their offensive and defensive strategies, executing plays with greater precision, , which is now reflected in their recent games. While they still have areas to improve and may not be as dominant as in past seasons, they're undoubtedly in better shape now than they were during the Valpo game.

It has been relocated to Warren because Tech is “unable to host.” It also says that Warren will still be the designated away team so I don’t think it will impact possible regional hosting.

Crown Point should win Sectional 1. I think they also have to be the favorite to come out of the North again.

Sectional 2 is loaded with Snider, Carroll and Elkhart having strong years. Carroll's probably the favorite, but it's hard not to look at Snider and not see the tournament success and history they've had over so many years.

Sectional 3 is Westfield's playground. Carmel's probably at the lowest level I can remember their program. I don't remember them being this bad even before Mo Moriarty arrived on the scene. Zionsville has yet to turn the corner though they've proven they can worry folks.

Sectional 4 is absolutely brutal. Assign a each team a random number and let the random number generator pick a victor. Would be cool to see Noblesville somehow come out of there.

Brownsburg is still the favorite in Sectional 5, but those ghosts of past failures have to be rattling their chains at Brownsburg with BD looking a lot better. Big danger is for Ben Davis to look past Pike. The Red Devils have become Ben Davis Northwest with all the coaches on that staff that are former Ben Davis players or Ben Davis coaches. Good to see Coach Brevard installing his vision up there, and you have to appreciate Pike for giving him the space to do it.

Sectional 6 should come down to Cathedral and Lawrence North, and that's going to be a great football game. Many people are starting to believe in Lawrence North. Give Temp credit...he's been on the bandwagon from the start. Another kudos to their excellent Athletic Department for giving Coach Mal his space to implement his program.

Sectional 7 Perry keeps improving as a program, and Tech won three games this year to date. That's progress. Southport appears to be where Perry was a few years back. All that said, if Warren doesn't running clock both of their games, it will be because they get in their own way. I think you can Sharpie Warren Central into the Regional. As soon as the clock hits zero on Friday vs. Cathedral. The Warriors are already prepping for CG.

Center Grove is still the class of Sectional 8, but Franklin Central's defense could make things extremely interesting. I don't think Columbus North, despite their 7-1 record, will have enough to beat the HCC or the former MIC squad.

Is Tech "unable to host" because someone else (Cathedral?) is using their facility, which basically says "we can make more money renting our facility out than letting our own team use it."

Tells me that neither Valpo or Elkhart are very good . I would be shocked if Elkhart takes out Snider .

This is not your typical Snider team. Very good defensively, limited offensively. I could see a 10-7 type of game actually. Going to watch some film on Elkhart to get a better feel for how this could go

Was speaking more to the discrepancy in the type of gameplay, but I’ll take your word for it.

Penn was 5-12 passing against Valpo. All five completions were to one receiver and three or four were for scores. I think the best explanation is that Valpo's defense was not/is not very good and they got jumped a little bit by Watson's explosive athletic ability.

They have 3 D1 defensive lineman with 2 alternating on offense..think I read one is a Tennessee commit..gonna be trouble...trouble...

Plus the rb1 from Mishawaka last year who gave Snider fits until he was injured..

Snider has already played Warren Central , who in my opinion has a better defense than Elkhart . Penn had the Elkhart D reeling the entire 1st quarter . Stupid penalties kept them out of the end zone . Also a missed wide right chip shot field goal . I still think Snider wins a close one .
