Westfield sounds legit.

Center Grove and Brownsburg sound like a title gifted to these guys without actually being present in the class. Not saying that's the case, just an observation by any reasonable person.

Wellness? Really? That's a thing? Lol. Okay.

Shakes my head walking away laughing, shrugging my shoulders.

I would say it is very common for High School football coaches to be PE teachers.

Most that are PE teachers are in the classroom too and work with speed strength and conditioning.

In the case of Coach Moore he use to be both Head Football Coach and Head Track coach. He has been hands on in speed and strength development at CG for years now. I would add he has done a very good job of it too and could retire completely at any moment.

Wellness though? Was that position created for Wright. It's Carmel, I guess maybe it's always been a thing.

Back when I attended High School it was called Health and Wellness. Now it is just called Wellness. Don't quote me but I would bet many High School's in Indiana offer Wellness course for at least a semester. I am way out of date on High School Curriculums though.

I would bet Fort Wayne schools have them too.

Carmel High School's wellness curriculum is integrated into physical education and other subjects, focusing on both physical and mental health through courses like Health & Wellness Education, Principles of Exercise Science, and Outdoor Exploration

    • Core courses:

Health & Wellness Education is a required course, often combined with other physical education credits.

      Specialized options:

Students can choose from a wide range of electives, such as:

Outdoor Exploration (including activities like kayaking and paddle boarding)

Advanced Physical Conditioning and Weight Training

      Principles of Exercise Science

      Team Sports with Sports Leadership

      Kinesiology with Human Performance

      The Science of Wellbeing

      Lifelong skills:

The goal is to build skills and confidence for a lifetime of physical fitness and outdoor activity.

When I was in HS, the HC was basically "trolling" the school...  No idea what he 'taught'.

Some of the Assistant Coaches should have been listed as 'HS Muscle'... it was a different time heading into the early 80's, than it is today.

You’re kidding right?

Was too busy to look it up...is the stipend larger depending on the school? Just wondered how top talent remains at powerhouse schools n all coaches aren't paid the same..or are they?? Tax payer dollars spread out evenly or what? Is there a buyout offer when a coach needs to go?? School has x amount of kids so coach gets paid z amount?

Harding had a HC that taught study hall..wasnt sure what the official stipulations were now a days n if by chance some schools don't get gr8 coaching due to limited options..no teachers want to coach..then what?

All depends on what a school wants to pay for a coach. I remember when James Blackmon was coaching basketball at Bishop Luers and Marion offered him the head coach job at Marion for a rumored $80,000+ per year to only coach basketball, no teaching… Different sport, but I am sure it applies to football as well

Many PE departments in school title the classes as wellness. My kids who have gone through school had Wellness. It’s a physical education and health classes.

As far as the big schools when it comes to head football coaches, I do not believe any of them should be teaching more than 2-3 classes a day depending on the school schedule. It is too big of a job with too much responsibility.

Thanks for the info, I just never heard of it myself. It's been a few years since I graduated though.

What's peoples thoughts on Carroll vs Elkhart ? Will Carroll steamroll Elkhart or will it be closer than expected ?

Something seems off with Elkhart. Not as good this year as they were last. That doesn't bode well for them against Carroll.

After Jarrell(Northwood) and Bardo (Penn) transferred in, the Elkhart faithful had big hopes. It hasn’t panned out for them.

Carroll laid an egg against warsaw a few years back, anything can happen. With the talent the Lions posess I can see them giving the chargers a game. Dinan had two weeks to gameplan though and I bet he unveils a few new wrinkles. Bardo vs Van pelt should be a good one to watch.

Carroll always seems to have a lapse here and there, but then again, most teams do. Elkhart's program isn't anywhere near Carroll at the moment. A loss would be a VERY bad look for the gem of the northeast.

That's on the coach. I'm an advocate for big enrollments and talented players, but that's only 50% of it. The other 50% is massive, especially when rumbling with the big boys.

I think Bardo will be a non factor because the QB will not have time to throw . Elkhart has no offensive Line/pass protection . I'm sure Dinan has seen game film where Elkhart gave up double digit sacks to SB St Joe and Penn . Carroll should bring heavy pressure/blitz packages and get quite a few sacks themselves .

Total offerings at Carmel Clay

I am partial to the Greyhound Media Network, She is AWESOME,  I mean they literally have their own TV studio with equipment that rivals local TV stations.

The real question is RCSC to offer a 8 year $11.6 million contract to keep their celebrity Wheel of Fortune model from going to Carmel Clasy Schools to join the Greyhound Media Network? Will they let you escape to be the Ron Burgundy of the Greyhound Media Network?

That doesn't tell me anything. Presuming it has to do with Carroll beating Elkhart. On paper this is about a 17-21 point game. We'll see. You must think Elkhart is really bad since you think Carroll isn't that good this year.

How can a school that large not have the talent on the lines? No wrestlers, shot put or discus guys to pull from? I will give Isaacs credit for churning out linemen, even the smaller ones gain great technique. Do they not have enough coaches? im not talking Northside with more coaches than players, yet at least enough for a solid O-Line coach that could learn a thing a two from some camps? Sorry North, they are just an easy target..
