Interesting finding after researching players ranked in the Top 10,000 prior to 1980. The 1980 rule absolutely hammers the northwest.

Not surprised:

Indy Metro: 25

Fort Wayne: 10

Lafayette: 3

Surprised:

South Bend/Mishawaka/Elkhart: 1

Region: 2

Evansville: 1

Chatard (1) compared to Cathedral's (8). That's not a typo, Cathedral has 40% of Indy Metro's representation.

Only lists guys who played in the NFL. While it is a good list, I guarantee there were players from different schools on there that were not the best football player to come out of their given schools.

If its NFL players list, Rensselaer;s lone drafted and NFL player is not either:  Indiana Hall of Fame member Dan Brandenburg , class of 92

We all loved that corner, and Id hate to contradict a legend..the guy who i saw cover him was the starting QB next year, he played WR all year yet during this game played Defense. The scrappy corner got a pick late, yet he played safety during this semi state contest and ran 12.4 in the 100m...he needed help and grace from God..the year prior they did the same yet both guys got torched..it made Samardjiza's highlight tape...a couple of times..

Justin Wynn, one hell of a player.

I don't recall Justin Wynn sharing time defending Samardiza, but I'll take @Justasportsfan's word for it. I just remember the media making a big deal out of a 5'8" (Kevin King maybe) kid who spent much of the night defending him. Regardless, I acknowledge Samardiza as one of the great players to come out of the state, I just didn't get to see much the one time I saw him in person.

He’s there.

Silly me looking for the real school name of BEN Davis instead of the ridiculous "DAVIS" that this list is calling it. BEN DAVIS is the school name. It's named after a place that was named after a person. The place was known as Ben Davis.

In my opinion - Championship level games deserve championship level facilities/playing surfaces. Why do we reward the best ref crews with the highest level games? Why do we play the State Finals at the best football field in the State?? If we can (and yes, we can), sectional championships and on up should be played on turf fields. IU, Notre Dame, the Colts all realize this - Purdue is dumb lol...

Im confused by this...why is Purdue dumb?  sorry if it's obvious...

They still play on a natural grass surface

Only sometimes when they are on the road.

Pretty certain Purdue, Penn State, Northwestern, USC, UCLA and Michigan State are the only natural grass teams in the Big Ten, no?

Purdue, Penn State, MSU, USC and UCLA. Northwestern's new field, I believe, will be turf.

Football is meant to be played on real grass and that's all I have to say about that.

There was someone on another topic that said all ihsaa playoff games should be played on field turf.

Notre Dame went turf..........I wanna say about 10 years ago. I was fortunate to be one of the first to see it completed.

that Bermuda Grass that Purdue has and LCC has is OUTSTANDING

Like playing on turf without the burning feet at the start of the season and without the turf pellets in your cleats when you leave.
