Staxawax Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 (edited) So as part of the latest expansion of the soon to be 3,000 student HS Avon has added a state of the art training and weight lifting facility. Folks around here think it will be a game changer for the football program. Thoughts? Edited January 25, 2024 by Staxawax 4 Quote

Coach Lou Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Great facility. We are so behind the times here at Elkhart. Locally I have seen Concords which is really nice and I hear Goshen's is outstanding as it's there old pool facility. Elkhart is still dealing with the facility they have used for years. Quote
Southside Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 This should help with recruiting!! 🤣 1 Quote

BDGiant93 Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I can only imagine what some of those early Avon coaches like my dad and his players from the 1960's would have thought about this facility. Good gracious. That's a beautiful facility, and that's a great tidbit about the Valley. Something I never knew, and I've been a Westsider for all of my 48 years. Quote

Looks fantastic...along with an outstanding strength and conditioning coach, it absolutely matters...for football and all sports. We have Coach Marty Mills at CG and so blessed to have him leading this effort. Their weight room is connected to and part of the overall Student Activity Center. CGHS SAC. Link below has some pics of the outside and the interior to include the indoor track, and configuration allowing for multiple basketball and volleyball courts. https://fhai.com/projects/center-grove-student-activity-center/ 1 Quote
WestfieldRocks Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 As part of a renovation and addition Westfield High School, which was completed several years ago, a new weight room was built, along with a renovation of the gym. A new aquatic center was also built as part of a partnership with the new Westfield YMCA. Currently 10 new outdoor tennis courts are under construction. Growing school districts need to keep up their facilities. 1 Quote

It appears the Coach Gibson and his Staff have brought back that slogan. The idea of "Defend the Valley", as it pertains to Avon, was thought up by 90s & 2000 DC/HC, Jon Acton. It was a play on Psalms 23. The Valley is an attitude... "Yeah, though we walk through the Valley, we shall fear no evil, for we are the baddest hombres in the Valley!" You can see it at the beginning of the MASTERPIECE that is the 1995 Avon Football Highlight Film. Featuring cutting edge graphics, wicked soundtrack, and a young #34 that now leads the Human Performance Program for the Crimson Tide. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/uQRmjlArQww?si=FXGhDEPptLFiXW05 Not trying to dispute the current head coach's explanation of its significance to his team. Merely explaining the origin. 1 Quote
