After cancelling the series almost a decade ago, the Southsiders finally found their mojo and nutted up! Welcome back to the big leagues, Rebels (errrrr Royals). February 18, 2021 CATHEDRAL AND RONCALLI TO RESUME FOOTBALL RIVALRY Joint release from Cathedral and Roncalli High Schools Roncalli and Cathedral High Schools announced today that the two schools will resume their football rivalry in the fall of 2023. Roncalli will host the first matchup on October 6, 2023, with Cathedral serving as the host school the following season. Existing contracts with current opponents prevent the schools from playing prior to 2023.

Both are consistently good due to extremely high participation rates, excellent coaching, and great program alignment grade school to high school. I can see where if two smaller schools can't support those things individually, but by combining their resources could do so, that a bigger combined school might be an answer. It does sadden me that some look at that as the first option, rather than putting things in place that might lead to better participation, better coaching, better program alignment at both smaller schools and therefore a higher number of kids overall benefiting from playing high school sports.

Harrison (west Lafayette) may have a shot of being put into 6A. Their enrollment is right on that edge

I used to track these changes in conference schedules for the SIAC, Big 8 & PAC but haven't in the last several years as it takes up a lot of time. In 1992, the SIAC switched to having the rivalry games in the last week of the regular season. The schedules pretty much stayed the same and they used to rotate weeks 3-6 (week 3 would become week 4, 4->5, 5->6, 6->3) for a while. With the addition of Jasper & Vincennes, they pretty much had to blow the schedule up, but did keep the rivalry weeks intact. Back in the day, the city schools would rotate who played on Thanksgiving. (Here's an article from 2007 I wrote that lists the Turkey Day games and you can see how they rotated). Putting schedules together is not an easy task, especially with balancing home games, teams dropping out and joining, rivalry games, etc. Definitely following this conversation. It's always been interesting to me and glad to know there are others too 🙂

Yeah, I'm curious to see what the Eagles do. You're timeline with Hurts is accurate. He definately played in 3 different offensive schemes in college. I'm just not sold on him as well. His personality and character are what you would want in a franchise QB.

I watched that one too. I hated it for the fans/players/coaches. But it was cool to get home and watch the last 3 quarters of that game. Felt like I was watching a late night Pac 12 game on FoxSports... except it was a better brand of football. LOL

And the left was able to get higher numbers of infection and death earlier to bolster the severity factor (and justify the "2 weeks to stop the spread"). Along with the shrill "we need 40,000 respirators" which less than 4,000 were actually utilized, the Javit's Center, the Red Cross Mercy ship that was brought out of repairs for New York. FYI - We are 11 months into "2 weeks to stop the spread"...... BUT - Coronavirus cured the Flu!! 400,000 hospitalizations to 165 in one year!!! #howstupiddotheythinkweare

Yeah ....the SEI guys do a nice job. I still am amazed at how they managed that 5 plus hour Lawrenceburg/Brownstown Central game during playoffs this past Fall on a Friday night/Saturday morning.

One of the highlights for me during the regional round has been the guys at SEI Local Sports. Usually a 4A team has to face East Central or a 3A team will face Lawrenceburg who both have games on there. Ev Central vs East Central (2x), Ev Memorial/ Heritage Hills/ Southridge vs Lawrenceburg. I've had a chance to watch all 5 of those broadcasts over the last few years. Great production staff and crew, IMO.

Have Anderson and Muncie gotten any better?

Maybe the entire school corporation doesn't revolve around football? I realize this is a football board but you have to realize there are far more significant factors in such decisions.
