I’ll comment on these 3 teams, all in sectional 19. Leo — Awesome O-Line with size, a great stable of backs to share the load on carries, great hard nosed defense, great special teams, but a questionable Offensive scheme IMO. This is what I don’t understand about Leo, they have all this size, great backs, experienced QB, and their scheme relies on deception, ball fakes, and confusion?? As soon as they match up against a defense that has the minimum level of size and tackling ability, AND has the scheme to stop their run they’re in trouble. I think Amstutz and EN have that defensive scheme. EN is 3-1 against Leo in the past 2 years with much of the same players on both teams. East Noble — Down in size a little compared to Leo, but an experienced roster. Offensively they are much better than last year, more balanced for sure. Playmakers at skill spots. Defense has been improving since week 1 against Plymouth where for more than half the game, we didn’t have our 1st team D on the field much at all. Northridge — I honestly don’t know a whole lot about them. I expected a little drop off with Coach Wogoman gone but doesn’t appear so. I know their conference is tougher than the NE8 playing the likes of Warsaw/Mishawaka etc. I’ll be following them as they play out their conference schedule for sure. Seems to me it wouldn’t be a surprise to see any of these 3 teams win sectional 19 and move on.

Our rushing attack has definitely improved since last year. Went up and down all night against an really solid Mater Dei rushing D with 2x all state James Ralph up front in their D-line(He’s really good at DT). I like our new QB, however he is undersized and his accuracy is questionable(though some of his incompletions are from dropped passes). But is quick with ball if he sees any holes in defenses. We’ve been getting better each week also, which is nice. Us and Jasper will contend for the S24 sectional title, but it will be interesting after that with Mooresville/ East Central in the Regional. Putting Jasper at #4 is nice a ranking for them too, extremely tough team and I doubted them in Week 1. Going to be a good one against Mater Dei and then Castle 2 weeks later. I will not be surprised if they go undefeated in the SIAC.

Mega conferences will become the norm eventually..never wanna use the "c" word with programs n believe every school that wants to play 11 on 11 contact should be given the opportunity..the 1as in the area would be included..if I had the time I could sure come up with something!! Creating love for the game is the goal..making money in the meantime doesn't hurt!!

Agree. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening. The SAC seems to comfortable in it's current state.

If they're all over 18 in Bloomington high schools, they should be winning a lot more.

Allow an expansion to the surrounding county schools..keep competitive balance..large school small school division..this will at least create community involvement n if the numbers make sense..add out of conference situations..if not..we will rinse n repeat every year until playoff time..

I was a student at A&M back in the old SWC days, so seeing Arkansas on a yearly basis was par for the course. It's not quite the same feel nowadays with A&M in the SEC with Arkansas. The A&M-Texas rivalry was a big deal when part of the SWC and Big 12, but I don't seem to miss it as much as I thought I would when A&M bolted for the SEC. In part, I think it's because Texas has been, as @Irishman stated, "average at best." A&M leaving for the SEC has hurt Texas in the recruiting wars. I recall when I moved to Indiana back in 2001, it was almost impossible to see an A&M game unless they were playing someone like Notre Dame or unless they were playing Oklahoma/Texas when those guys were ranked. Now, with A&M in the SEC, I can pretty much catch A&M weekly ... the more recent higher ranking of course doesn't hurt. Texas used to, by default, get so many of the "out of staters" being the "state school" even though A&M is also a state school too. The SEC exposure for A&M, plus their own self-imposed moratorium on playing Texas, help set the tone that A&M was really the visible state presence for Texas. With that said, make no mistake about the Texas branding. It is one of the richest brands, if not the richest brands in the NCAA. The SEC play will be much less about wins, although they would like to have them, as it is about making sure that brand isn't gained on or eroded by A&M. Perhaps that rivalry never really went away ... to an extent I'm being facetious ... the A&M/tu rival will never really go away ... be sure to catch the Longhorn/Aggie tiddlywinks game on The Ocho later on this semester.

Most of Memorial's damage via the run seemed to be on off-tackle plays where they crashed down on the DE and the lead back would take out the Mater Dei LB. This allowed #38 to get beyond the LOS - usually without being touched - and into 2nd level of defense. With his speed and evasiveness, Mater Dei's LBs & DBs could not tackle him without help. Lost count of how many times #38 broke through initial contact - which typ. occurred about 5 yds downfield, to gain an additional 5+, 10+ YAC. He was the difference maker in the game, IMO.

Brownsburg 35 Fishers 13 Avon 31 Franklin Central 27 Westfield 27 HSE 14 Zionsville 20 Noblesville 7 Is this the definition of a trap game for the Bulldogs with Westfield looming the following week? Believe it or not, Avon's defense last week looked much improved, and Mason Reynolds is improving every week. He has a D1 arm. Give him protection and he will pick you apart. HSE should have confidence but they have yet to play a good football team. Westfield has so far preformed up to expectations. If Zionsville wants to get back to the 5A title game they need to step up and show it. I just don't think Coach Sharp's Miller defense can make enough stops to allow for those 14-play drives his offense puts up.

My daughter’s senior year in college, in the conference tournament Coach made somewhat odd decision at the end of the game, that ended up working out, to be honest I don’t even remember what it was. After the game I ran into Coach, and he asked me “did I make the right decision?” I just told him, you know Coach, I’m undefeated from the stands, I’m sure you made the right call.

This ends up making a lot of sense. You don't see too many of the issues of bodily abuse with shorter yardage situations because of the probability of first down. The other big one is "bomb molestation" where you give up 15 to avoid 6. Offensive holding is traditionally a 10-yard penalty from the spot of the foul. I'd like to see a DPI penalty addendum like the holding penalty rule in the endzone. Maybe this "technicality rule" ends up being enforced when DPI occurs in the endszone.

Yes but they made the plays and are 2-0. Normally they don’t make those types of plays and find a way to lose a game they shouldn’t. And yes, how the heck does FSU let that guy get behind them?!! And then they can’t tackle him or push him out of bounds?

One of the few programs in the state undefeated against Roncalli. Depending on when the success factor was instituted, HH would have likely been playing in 4A against Chatard/Roncalli (might have been 5A) from 2001-2007. Playing Jasper twice in one season would've been a treat. The local game that has never happened and looks like it never will is Heritage Hills vs. Reitz. As always don't dismiss HH or MV or SR yet against GS. Kryptonite seems to appear at the most inopportune times. That being said, I fully expect the Titans to run the table in the PAC and 3A this year. Highest prospective PAC QB in 20 years (since Cutler; albeit, because of circumstances which prevented HH from going on a run in 1999, being a legitimate collegiate athlete prospect in three sports, and the changes in exposure/recruiting for Allen). Side note... Bob Griese's brother, Bill, has lived and is now retired in Santa Claus and can most often be found on the golf course.

I would say it’s been a little fun considering ND usually finds a way to lose these types of games they let the other team hang around. Lets be honest here, this offensive line is not good. We have a grad transfer qb who can’t sense pressure or see a blitz coming in front of him. I didn’t believe this before the season but with their inability to run the ball Tyler Buchner may need to play now to give them a chance to keep the defense honest. He looked pretty good today and Jack coan did not. But the OL, down to LT #3, needs to get much much better to help the qbs out.

No real surprises tonight IMO. Thought Memorial/MD would've been a little closer than it was but not a shocker. Castle and Jasper took care of business. Reitz/North and VL/Central were coin flips and played out as such. Shout out to the Alices for a big win at home. After last Friday, I felt a good vibe with this team that I predicted would carry over to tonight. Was nice to see some hard work pay off. Now hopefully this momentum can lead to some good things next week for homecoming with the Knights paying a visit.

Texas is just an odd story. In the years 2004, 2005 (National Championship year), 2008, and 2009, They had one loss or none over the last twenty years. Since then, they have been average at best. I am guessing there are a lot of alumni that upset about a lot of things. Not sure what has happened. Just seems there are so many good football players living in Texas, they should be able to get their share to go to UT. Add to it that A&M is highly ranked. Plenty to be fuming about for the UT alumni. On a side note Joe Tessitore is awesome calling college games; and his description of the fans rushing the field was classic.

Not horrible looking, but it does look a LOT like an Oregon uniform. I am a huge fan of the white jersey/white pants combo from the last couple seasons. The green pants here might look cool with the white jersey though.
