Could it be, that all is well at Carmel and Schools Like Westfield are just catching up? Westfield has one of the largest youth football programs in the State. I have insider information, that the goal at Westfield was to match or overtake Carmel. All Hamilton County schools have grown substantially and can match Carmel in facilities. Have you seen the new weight room and Stadium at Westfield? Nobody is feeling sorry for Carmel, they will be ok..... its just that the little brothers are growing up and now can compete.

Brebeuf has *a lot* of Carmel kids (always has) - the western Clay Township kids live right down the street. Clay Terrace, which is one of the biggest neighborhoods in Carmel, is closer to Brebeuf than it is to CHS and is full of people with the means to afford an expensive private school. Guerin Catholic also has a lot of Carmel kids (and I don't know if this is the case in football, but every time we play Cathedral in baseball, 3/4 of the license plates in the parking lot are from Hamilton County). And all of those schools have very good football programs. The type of family that seeks out Carmel to live is specifically seeking out Carmel. They tend to be well-heeled, Type A parents, but I can see this current generation of parents not being as keen on their kids playing football (and as others noted, travel sports demand specialization and soccer/baseball - especially at a place like Carmel - will snare some of those kids who would've otherwise been multi-sport athletes at young ages). However, just by sheer volume, there will be a lot of kids who are driven and *want* to play football, who are talented, from supportive families. But HSE, Fishers, Zionsville & Westfield all have a significant number of those families, too, and the sectional/regional path is likely going to feature those teams. It's not as much "what's wrong with Carmel" as it is "what's right with Westfield/HSE." Even at Carmel, HS teams do go through cycles.

The clinic they hold every June is the premier event of its type in the Midwest. The IHSAA has modeled its certification clinics after the IHSAA clinic. So by your logic Andrean is better than Lowell because they gave CP a close game even though Lowell beat them? Don't be so butt hurt, I was just making a statement that CP dumping Andrean from their schedule is far more likely than dropping Lowell because: 1. It's the state's oldest rivalry 2. It's a huge gate Week 1 for the host team 3. It's a natural geographic rival 4. CP has nothing to gain from playing a 2A Catholic school. And, yes, they are a dominant 2A team but a 2A team nonetheless. But if you think CP is better off playing the 59ers over an Indy team (even if they have to travel), then you're just being stubborn and/or stupid. Douchebag comments like yours are the reason most Region fans don't root for Andrean in the playoffs. Lastly, if you're going to use the "we're still playing card," Lowell might not be the program to use it on.

I would disagree to an extent. If a HS with 3 feeder schools has kids running the same system with similar schemes and terminology, they would have a tremendous advantage as their incoming freshmen would have 3 starting QBs, 3-6 starting RBs and 15-20 starting linemen. That's competition for spots and in theory that should make your team better. It can be a detriment if you have coaches that don't teach fundamentals, don't run similar systems and don't work to build numbers on the team. Then you start over when they are freshmen.

Mathematically and logically this is correct... The problem with this "geography hurt the WRC this year" argument ignores the fact that the IHSAA has always used geography. If memory serves correct, they start in one of the northern corners (for some reason I want to say the northwest) and group the Sectionals from there. This is why, for example, there have been years in the past where Sheridan has been in a southern Sectional. It's rare but it does happen, and probably would happen if you started dividing Sectional assignments anywhere but West Central Indiana. The issue is less the IHSAA and geography bit more appropriately the WRC and its geography. I don't know of another conference in the state that has such a relatively tight grouping of 1A schools outside of perhaps a metro area of some kind. That means that any time any of the conference schools end up in a different Sectional it seems odd and out of place, but in reality it's not. What seems to be advocated for here is more of a geographic "cluster" system, which I'm sorry, would be just as problematic as what we have now.

I would say the more feeders you have the better. You can keep more kids in the system playing. Some kids develop later than others so the kid in a single middle school system who is small in middle school might opt out of football. But if the district is split into 3 or 4 middle schools he may have more of a chance to play. If he starts to get stronger or faster in 9th grade and he's still playing you still have him. If he quit in 7th grade he's now playing tennis or soccer or running cross country. This has often touted as an advantage especially for the parochial schools. Chatard had 4 or 5 kids who started as QBs in 8th grade while a rural school with a similar enrollment had 1. You go that deep at each position you are going to have kids with more experience.

Yes parents were yelling. And it got loud at the end. No one was escorted out by police. I watched the entire scenario go down. I don’t condone the behavior of parents yelling. But no one was escorted out by police. The AD and Principal had it under control and the person left on their own. The police did walk over to the AD and principal after the situation was taken care of.

On talent they have a big o-line and a QB. That’s it. There defense struggles against everyone till the offense can get separation and force a team into being 1 sided. You will see when crown point plays in regionals that they may not even score 10 points. Coaching wise they are good. But the talent that everyone things they have because they are undefeated is a farce. They are so simple it’s not funny. And again they are only undefeated because merrillville didn’t have there DC when they played there were no adjustments by merrillville. They proved crown point can’t contain anyone with good skill players. Crown point has to play flawless against good teams to win.

Do you think the generation of todays kids has anything to do with it? It just seems like they could care less. I have a teenager and she could care less about anything outside of playing on her phone.

With the prevalence of turf fields with their perfect yard lines and hash marks, you shouldn’t be measuring more than a couple times a season. More than that, and I’m going to have a talk with my Umpire.
