Interesting note... MD's Mike Goebel was named NFHS 2022-2023 Football Coach of the Year. Memorial's Angie Lensing received the same COY award for girls soccer. These are national awards, so its pretty impressive for Evansville's Catholic high schools to have 2 winners in the same year.

More wasted taxpayer dollars. And increased serious injury opportunities for the children playing on such a surface (this is well documented, I will not get into another discussion concerning this proven point again.) All so somebody doesn't have to mow the grass, paint some lines, and sometimes wash muddy uniforms.

So as part of the latest expansion of the soon to be 3,000 student HS Avon has added a state of the art training and weight lifting facility. Folks around here think it will be a game changer for the football program. Thoughts?

Two national awards are easy for Catholic schools. That's effectively 3.5 national awards at a public school.

Articles like that prove how little some people understand how football and officiating work. First, the referee makes very few of the calls in a game. Their attention is so focused on the QB and kickers they often have no idea what the result of a play is. There isn't much they could do to "influence" a game or "favor" one team. Second, the crew he's working with in the playoffs is different than the crew he's working with in the regular season. So any "trends" someone may think to propose wouldn't apply because it's a different set of people. It would be like having Patrick Mahomes as your Pro Bowl QB and then predicting the AFC Pro Bowl defense is likely to give up a lot of points because the Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs give up more points than any team in the league.
