I want to publicly give recognition to Rodney Younis. No one in the Triton community has been as faithful and given sacrificially to Triton athletics as much as this man. Younis took over the reigns as the head football coach in 2002. His teams took their lumps competing against many larger schools in the old Northern State Conference. In spite of that, he led the Trojans to sectional titles in 2007 and 2008. In 2013 he retired from coaching football and handed over the team to John Johns, who coached for two years before unexpectedly resigning just before the start of the 2015 season. Younis stepped up when the team needed it and joined forces with Ron Brown to return to the sidelines. Together they led the Trojans to two sectional title games, winning the 2018 crown. When Coach Brown moved on to accept an administrative position at another school, Younis stepped up to resume the head coaching duties for another four seasons before stepping away to focus on his role as Athletic Director, giving Coach Whittaker his opportunity. Now, under difficult circumstances, it's once again Rodney Younis stepping up for the sake of the kids! I know many schools have coaches like Coach Younis, but I just want to say how grateful I am that Triton has a guy that gives of himself so sacrificially for the good of our kids. Kudos to you, Coach Younis! We're blessed to have you in our community! Thanks for your sacrificial service to our student athletes!

Not a big boy game but Crawford County ends a 35 game losing streak defeating Clarksville 24-16

Is this what's refs refer to as, "Don't start no sh*t, won't be no sh*t?" 😃 Lord, I apologize for that there.

Great game between Castle and Memorial. And what an atmosphere! The venue had its drawbacks. But, all in all, it was a really cool experience. Castle’s offense was a workhorse. Their scoring drive in the 3rd quarter took almost the entire quarter. I’m sure that took a lot of energy out of Memorial’s defense. McCool was terrific, as expected. And they were efficient passing the ball as well. Castle’s defense played well, too. But Memorial just has so many weapons - and a terrific QB to spread the ball around to them. Tough break on the 4th down drop by Anslinger near the goal line - especially after Castle scored a long TD on the next play. What could’ve been a 21-7 game almost instantly became a 14-14 game. This game really lived up to its billing.

Final 44-7… a good performance by the team. A week off then sectional begins at home.

Columbus East - 37 Bedford - 7 5 minutes in the 3rd… East scored on a safety and TD.

Just like with Crown Point, Elkhart needs to have a sustained run of excellence to show they aren’t a 4 year class wonder. Every school can get that special class of athletes and make a run for a couple years, but when they graduate, what follows?

If the coach can get them to play disciplined football. They have some stud Sophmores . I'm sure Antwon Jones Jr will be getting offers by next year. There is no shortage of athletes walking the halls at Elkhart high school . Time will tell if it translates into sustainability in 6a.

Unless the school knew about this a lot sooner than when they reported this, I don't see how the school can be at fault.

I don't want the state dictatating who I have to play for regular season. AD's have to weigh conferences and non conference games with several different factors. Tradition, Rivalries, competiveness, travel, and gate are all factors. If the state tells me I have to play Lake Station rather than Jimtown or Triton, that is a huge lose of money, tradition, and convience. The more the state gets involved the more they screw it up. The other thing to consider is the IHSAA isn't going to have one sport being a qualifying tournament and other sports be all in. Basketball is never going to allow this. The uproar that would occur if you told basketball teams they had to qualify in this state would be on par with the vote in 1995 when they went to class.

There’s no hard and fast answer here. The QB (or any other offensive player) is not allowed to simulate the start of a play, or do anything else designed to cause the defense to encroach. Hand clapping signals, or voice inflection, can be used without penalty. When you get into head bobs and other movement, it gets dicey. There’s no way to eliminate officiating judgment, and that will necessarily result in some degree of perceived inconsistency.

Coach Moore on his post game comments on CG TV last week after the LN game commented that "next week the Washington Commanders (perhaps he said Redskins...can't remember) are coming into town". Definitely a compliment of the quality of the St. Frances MD team.

Benny Patterson is visiting Indiana for the Indiana/Nebraska game. It sounds like they are pushing hard for him.

In some of those Texas districts, you can find yourself looking at next season by the time you get to this year's mid-season. Not a lot of fun.

School Board approved Rensselaer to leave the Hoosier Conference, I believe this will take place as the by laws state So Rensselaer is what is known as a Free Agent Who is gonna wine and dine us? 🙂 NIL money ?

If you have to borrow last years version until you get yours that's fine. Worked for me. Read each cover to cover. I have a long commute and would have loved an audio books version. I picked my association based on geography only to find out they're mainly a basketball association and didn't have a single training session on football. Some like in person, some do online. Many are mandatory to get tournament assignments. They are helpful. Events may be dead this time of year but start keeping a close eye late spring/early summer. Don't just search for "football". One great clinic at South Adams forgot to put that in their title. Download their app for your phone. Check it. Don't limit yourself to just games assigned to you. Look also at open assignments. I got most of my bookings this way. Order the uniform. I use https://purchaseofficials.com/ Get: long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, long pants, short pants, whistle and lanyard, velcro down indicator , 2 sided game card, black and blue down bags, penalty flag, mini pencil with plastic shield and clip, smart card game holder with writing pad, black hat, belt (follow their advice and order 1 or 2 sizes bigger to get that through your pants loops I'd go 2 and I'm only a size 38. I've never seen a white hat at a JV/MS game.
