I always asked myself "why would I take a chance on getting into trouble while on a business trip?". 34 years on the road and never had 1 incident.4 points

Never said enrollment wasn't a factor. I promise you programs like Westfield and Center Grove don't battle the Hounds defeated mentally before the game starts knowing their are close to 50% of Carmel's enrollment. And those schools more than hold their own against the Greyhounds. While Wright is an outstanding coach, he is inherting some current talent...no doubt. But another factor to success you never mention is the school's feeder program. Carmel's has been down for a few years now....overall numbers are down as is their success that used to be taken for granted. So Wright may be facing some future challenges...unless he can find some transfers.2 points

I'm not buying that Elkhart has regressed . They have really only played 3 good teams and they lost all 3 . They did not look good against Penn because Penn is the best team they have played this year .2 points

Agree....nothing like learning with experience...sometimes watching film just doesn't cut it. What doesn't kill you makes your stronger. But giving the Irish full credit...executed an outstanding defensive game plan. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap, take your lumps, and store it away for another day.2 points

So what you are really trying to say is that you really enjoy "Moob's" 🤣😂 All in fun! Both teams are pretty banged up the Irish without their top rusher (although Dangerfield and Pappas share time at RB) and also lost 1 of their top O-lineman for the year prior to the CG game. CG dipping way into the well of RB's (on a positive note future CG starting backs getting some valuable reps). Here is to hoping both teams get as healthy as they can prior to the tournament. CG will be okay as their QB develops. The Irish defense has been one of their bright spots this year as long as their Offense doesn't put them in tough situations or have them on the field the majority of the game. The blitzing is a positive thing for the Irish to help their DB's out. I think this pressure in the long run will help the Soph QB for CG. Now he has some real game experience with a lot of QB pressure for future experience.2 points

It seems many of our teams cross state lines for a game, here are some I’d like to see: Carmel vs. New Trier (IL)—two of Indiana’s of Illinois’ wealthier suburbs (although Wilmette and Winnetka) send their kids to NT. Cathedral vs. Bishop O’Gorman (NV)—would the best Catholic school emerge? Bloomington South vs Lexington Henry Clay—two stalwarts from classic college towns (undercard: West Lafayette vs. Ann Arbor Pioneer {MI}) Twin Lakes vs. Sarasota (FL)—what team spends more time at the beach or running drills)? Elkhart vs. Huntsville Grissom (AL)—the RV Capital of the World going up against Rocket City, USA. There you go. Add more if you want or maybe just say “Gipper, you’re obviously bored)…”1 point

I watched them play, and I think they are a very good football team, as temp mentioned, they have incredible speed. I don't think they are going to state in 6a this year, however I wouldn't be surprised if they gave someone a hell of a game on the way.1 point

IMO... North is better than in 2024, mainly because of the new coach. Castle lost some pretty good talent and is not as good as in 2024.1 point

State Final's history since moving to Lucas Oil (6A and 5A because 6A wasn't created until 2013) In 6A there have been 12 State Champions and 12 Runner-up. Indy Metro has had 20 of 24 teams in those 12 years and an Indy metro area team has won all 12. In 5A since moving to Lucas Oil (2008) there have been 17 State Champions and 17 Runner Up. Indy Metro has had 24 of 34 teams in those 17 and an Indy metro area team has won 13 of 17. If you go prior to Lucas Oil in 5A there were 23 State Champions and 23 Runner-ups only 21 of the 46 teams were Indy Metro. A lot better representation from non Indy Metro. Indy Metro teams won 15 of 23 State Championships during that period. Or change the feeder program. I will say it will be more of a challenge this stint with Coach Wright as HC than it was his last stint, Coach Moriarity left the program in good shape when Coach Wright took over the first time. He does have some experience with that, Warren Central was pretty much mediocre when he took over that program.1 point

I 100% agree with what you stated. The good thing is he got to see heavy pressure in a regular season game so it does not come as a surprise come tournament time and not know how to react. Probably one of the biggest things I like about games like CG vs Cathedral, they both push each other to get better (just my opinion and I am a nobody lol).1 point

I think what you have looks pretty good. I will say tho, I think this will be a year where there isn't a clean cut favorite for the North and the South. I'm not sure there are even true clear favorites in a lot of the sectionals this year. I don't think the sagarin ratings are very accurate this year, and I think a lot of teams records are skewed due to a lot of teams not being as tough in different conferences that usually are. Will be a fun tournament this year and looking forward to it.1 point

We are allowed our opinions and perspectives and thank God we can agree to disagree. Let’s talk about it, especially when you say that football has “not a lot of real world value”. Does participation within a program that teaches them (youngsters youth thru high school) things like discipline, selflessness, commitment, ultimate team work amongst 33 pieces on Offense, Defense and Special Teams plus their coaches, managers, etc., sound like a good thing that provides world value? How about how to disagree and resolve conflict, how to stand up for what is right, how to have patience, how to love, how to have understanding, how to forgive, how to believe in oneself and others, to encourage, to demand excellence of the self and others, to lead, to persevere, to be special. I’ve only begun to scratch the surface of the true depth of what the greatest team game ever “real world value” is. Our football coaches, the true football coaches that are men and women of integrity and honor, take the responsibility of being a coach as serious as being a father because they know that most of society has lost that father of 4 that works hard and goes to church (very sad btw). So, someone in the village has to step up and help the parent or guardian that’s left guide that child to graduation and hopefully onward, so they can have a shot of becoming that impactful parent that deserves the millions of dollars and appreciation, but since that kid played football they won’t ask or care about it because of the values they learned from their coaches and the game. God bless our coaches that sacrifice their family time for others kids and may the impact they have be positive and long lasting. So that the values and lessons can begin to truly impact the real world. Yes, shoutout to all the guys doing great things outside of football and keep up the good work and doing by far the hardest job on the planet, being a good parent. Shoutout to the our football coaches as well who are raising their own kids and others.1 point

Thanks. And I wasn't being critical of Cascade, just curious how a conference game - and I think a relatively new conference? Would have such a mismatch between teams.1 point

Common opponent 1 - One played them week 1 and the other week 7I would think both teams have improved since week 1. Aside from that Westfield is more of a run first team Carroll is a pass heavy team. Westfield amassed 262 yds rushing and 63 yds passing holding Homestead to 71 passing and 22 rushing. Carroll threw for 300 ran for 71 holding Homestead to 148 passing 87 rushing. Common Opponent 2 - A loss is a loss. I didn't and wouldn't tout a loss to Brownsburg. I simply said them holding Brownsburg who is averaging 39 points per game to 14 points is eye opening (says Westfield's defense is pretty solid) that being said their Offense only scored 10 points. Brownsburg in my opinion is better than all 6A teams with Carmel likely the closest to them.1 point

CP is a good team, but it’s hard to imagine them bullying Carmel or Westfield for a full 48. CP is +27.5 against either, and a moral victory would be something like keeping it to 14.1 point

I like it. Did this and helped confirm what I suspected ... at least on paper. I had LCC as, at least, the 4th best team in Sectional 34. The predictor had them as 5th, but close to 4th. I like the tool. Has a lot of data points to it just beyond predicting a winner. Nice work on this!1 point
-
Cam we please talk about how CP'S only legitimate win is against Merriville, who themselves dont even have a win on record worth declaring them a good team. You cannot even really transitive property these teams, it doesn't hold up. We're just going off historical performance, and the historical performance doesn't look good! Also I think carrol is pretty good this year1 point
-
Those districts are all very different too. West Lafayette looks much more like LCC than any of the other schools. McCutcheon and Jeff are more aligned economically albeit not nearly demographically. Even WITHIN districts, Harrison probably looks more like West Lafayette than McCutcheon, even though Harrison and McCutcheon are both county schools that are close to the same size.1 point

I think you should go back and do a double take on your FW Carroll and Westfield common opponent hot take. Common Opponent number 1: Westfield over Homestead 35-0 FW Carroll over Homestead 49-0 Common Opponent number 2: Westfield over Hamilton Southeastern 21-17 Hamilton Southeastern over FW Carroll 14-7 I won't make Westfield out to be the better than what they are. I will say Westfield is the only team to hold Brownsburg to 14 points in a 14-10 loss 1 week ago. Brownsburg is averaging 39 points per game so that is not something to just gloss over. That being said there is a resurging Carmel team who looks to be the likely favorite from the north what a difference when Coach Wright came in as Head Coach a 3-7 team last year sitting at 6-1 this year.1 point

Decatur Central has been rolling people (albeit not premier teams) and did so on 2-3 occasions with their backup QB as their Toledo bound signal caller was injured on the last play against Avon. I’ll really piss off @23andCounting with this one… Check out where Sagarin has DC.1 point

Not surprising, I expected it to be more honestly. By far, this is IU’s toughest game on the schedule. They have a great offense and defense, home crowd is raucous, and they hit speed to burn. Very well could be the best team in the country. It will be a helluva challenge for the Hoosiers1 point
