  1. Made the drive to Jeffersonville for the East at Jeff game. It’s my first time ever at Jeff’s stadium. I’ve now been to the homefield of every HHC team. Also been to Madison several times.

  2. Cig was an assistant for Saban. He would not put himself in Saban’s class. Give the guy a break though…it’s year 2 at Indiana and he’s set history there for success. Put up or shut up? Give me a break. What’s he’s already done at IU is incredible and unlike a Lanning or Day, he didn’t inherit a Porsche. He’s worked his way up from Div 2 and won at every level.

  3. Wonder what would of been if he stayed at Rensselaer? 🙂 Who is the Chicago Public School stalwort ? According to Maxpreps, #64 ranked Morgan Park is the leader this year from Chicago Public School, their 2 losses were to start the year to Nazareth Academy by 4 tds and they lost to Downser Grove North week 1 in close game. Whitney Young is probably the most notable but theyu got bounced by 42-0 in round 2 last year, but then Chicago/Illinois lets teams then play on in some sub tournament amongst themselves, not really sure how that comes about. https://chicago.suntimes.com/super-25-football-rankings/2025/09/14/high-school-football-rankings-chicago-illinois-sun-times-michael-obrien Also EAST ST LOUIS is an Illinois team, not a Missouri team 🙂 just in case ST. Louis was in reference to that in your message However I will defer to @Yuccaguy for all things St. Louis HS football, maybe I am missing something

  4. Odd game. That pick six by Westfield that turned out to be the game winner was the 8th turnover of the game. Four on each team. It just wasn't a well played offensive game by either side. Westfield was without their number 1 running back Deacon King. Not sure why. I saw him dressed, helmet on, didn't appear to have anything physically wrong. Both teams had 4th and goal from the 1, and neither one was able to capitalize. Defenses ruled this one.

  6. East scores a TD on a short run a minute and a half into the fourth to go up 28-7. They then ran out the clock to close the game on fourth down by running into their own endzone for a Jeff safety. East wins 28-9. Absolutely unbelievable performance by the East defense. Jeff couldn’t move the ball tonight. That’s 22 straight wins against the Red Devils.

  7. Halfway through the second, Villarreal forced a bad pass that was returned about 55 yards to the 1. Jeff had a touchdown pass two plays later. East responded with a good drive that resulted in a one yard TD run. East leads 14-7 at the half and will receive the second half kickoff.

  8. Guys this is a completely unacceptable conversation you cannot disparage the efforts of high school football players by saying they are not the best

  9. Saban had the best talent money could buy. But nonetheless, I've always considered him a Top 20 coach. I just don't know if it's 1 or 20. He barely had winning records his first four seasons at Michigan State. But credit to him for going 10-2 his fifth year and landing the LSU job. Cignetti gives you a lot of bang for your buck. When and who was the last coach who's made this kind of impact in a short period at a Power 5 program. Everyone wants to the be the "next Indiana." That's what NC was hoping for anyway, lol. Anyway. If I'm picking my head coach, I'm going with Cignetti. My number two choice would be Freeman. The state of Indiana is reeling right now with, arguably, the best two coaches in the country.

  15. Many programs are now doing it earlier in the year. It moved at BD during the pandemic, and I know one reason why it's stayed earlier at Ben Davis is because it was falling on Fall Break. Both the basketball teams still do their final home game as Senior Night.

  16. I think you’re right, but the first issue’s importance is more or less dependent on the second. Historically, Penn has a fairly even history with the few suburban Indy programs it has faced—Penn has found itself pointed more toward the ground since they last locked up with Carmel in 2017, so it likely wouldn’t look so even today. I’ve been on the second issue for nearly twenty years. Penn’s guys get so little exposure to challenging or even average competition throughout their time in the program. Even when the varsity team has games with great or elite programs, that benefit never extends down to the developmental levels of the high school program. This problem is exacerbated when you try to reload with as many 18 year olds as possible each season—which every coach would do given the chance.

  17. Geesman was at Rensselaer correct? Head coach or assistant? I know Rensselaer went through some great coaches a while back.

  18. I’d be willing to bet at least three of those teams on that list would get a running clock going on most of the Hoosier Hills teams. There’s some damn good small school football being played this year.

  19. I'm talking over a sustained period of time, not singular seasons. Whitney Young and Morgan Park both have solid football programs and would absolutely pistol whip Tech. And I didn't mention anything about specific states. East St Louis is part of metro St Louis and have a national powerhouse football program despite being in an extremely impoverished area.

  20. From an outsiders perspective, I feel like Penn has two issues now that they didn't have in the early 2000's and before... They no longer have a significant enrollment advantage over most of the other Indy metro schools. Sure they are a top 10 sized school.....but most of the Indy metro schools are within a few hundred kids give or take. And a few have outgrown Penn. The "local" competition up North isn't what it used to be....and it wasn't always great back then. (and the changes to their schedule this year are puzzling...no out of state powers like they used to schedule, no Indy schools?) This is my outsider perspective, so the Penn faithul are welcome to call me out...I would fully defer. Gees was an alltime great, but I don't feel like Yeoman and the rest of that staff just forgot how football worked?

  24. From sports-reference. MSU SOS: ‘95, 6th; ‘96, 19th (6 ranked opponents) IU SOS: ‘24, 55th; ‘25, 25th (4 ranked opponents counting Oregon—who knows, maybe Maryland and Penn State will be ranked in November, too) IU SOS: ‘21, 1st; ‘22, 20th; ‘23, 18th (12 ranked opponents) Full credit to Cignetti and staff for the results, but the guy has to win a put up or shut up-game if you’re going to hold him up with someone like Saban. Maybe it’s this weekend.

  26. I didn’t say all either. I don’t even get a majority via various aid. Definitely not close to 7 out of 11. But, again, it’s the best situation for my kids so it’s far and away worth it!

  27. As someone who doesn’t follow the bottom three classes as closely, this was as best as I could do. I knew it was pretty good but I don’t have a clue as to how it compares to upper class teams. Not sure I’m explaining myself well here.

  28. @temptation Kill me now? Saban was 12-11-1 in his first two years at Michigan State. If I'm going into battle, I'm taking Cignetti with me.

  32. Even if Westfield does annex lands around Sheridan, most school district boundaries are based on township lines and existing boundaries, and are not/cannot be adjusted because the town's boundaries expand and cross said district lines. There are a number of places within Greenwood's town limits, for example, that are in Whiteland's school district (which wraps around Greenwood to the south and east).

  33. I would be happy to talk drones with you Billiam! Using drones to film high school football games offers an unparalleled viewing experience. I think Moore's PH squads caught flack because people were jealous of the Alpha male dominance energy that he continuously exudes. They couldn't beat him so they took shots at them dominating a weak conference. They was all jelly and you have to admit it. In Barrett's case, it probably came back to jealousy again. Probably a bunch of dudes with male pattern baldness who felt physical pain viewing the way Greg's flowing mane cascades out of that visor. They couldn't replicate his hair, so they took shots at the wildcats dominating a weak conference. Jelly again. Or it could be that there are several folks in the area who hate Rockville and Clinton, and don't mind places like Zoomtown, Rosedale and Mecca. Theories abound!!!!

  34. We are allowed our opinions and perspectives and thank God we can agree to disagree. Let’s talk about it, especially when you say that football has “not a lot of real world value”. Does participation within a program that teaches them (youngsters youth thru high school) things like discipline, selflessness, commitment, ultimate team work amongst 33 pieces on Offense, Defense and Special Teams plus their coaches, managers, etc., sound like a good thing that provides world value? How about how to disagree and resolve conflict, how to stand up for what is right, how to have patience, how to love, how to have understanding, how to forgive, how to believe in oneself and others, to encourage, to demand excellence of the self and others, to lead, to persevere, to be special. I’ve only begun to scratch the surface of the true depth of what the greatest team game ever “real world value” is. Our football coaches, the true football coaches that are men and women of integrity and honor, take the responsibility of being a coach as serious as being a father because they know that most of society has lost that father of 4 that works hard and goes to church (very sad btw). So, someone in the village has to step up and help the parent or guardian that’s left guide that child to graduation and hopefully onward, so they can have a shot of becoming that impactful parent that deserves the millions of dollars and appreciation, but since that kid played football they won’t ask or care about it because of the values they learned from their coaches and the game. God bless our coaches that sacrifice their family time for others kids and may the impact they have be positive and long lasting. So that the values and lessons can begin to truly impact the real world. Yes, shoutout to all the guys doing great things outside of football and keep up the good work and doing by far the hardest job on the planet, being a good parent. Shoutout to the our football coaches as well who are raising their own kids and others.
