  1. Floyd Central plays the two hardest opponents in this conference. Louisville Male and Louisville Manuel. I really have no idea why they want those matchups, but I guess they have their reasons.

  2. https://www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/2021/03/25/mark-baltz-honored-for-25-year-career-by-nfl-referees-group/43480803/ Many of you may know Mark. I’ve had the pleasure of calling him a friend for many years. He’s one of those guys with an incredibly successful career, who never stops giving back. Whether they know it or not, every official in Indiana owes Mark for the tireless work he’s done over the years to advance the interests of Indiana officials. With everything else he had going, Mark took time to be a founding Executive Board member of the Indiana Football Officials Association, and is still active today. Mark Baltz honored for 25-year career by NFL Referees group AP View Comments WASHINGTON (AP) — The National Football League Referees Association has named Mark Baltz its 2021 Annual Honoree for his 25-year career as an official and another 15 years as its treasurer. The NFLRA announced the honor Thursday. Baltz called it an honor being selected by his friends and peers both on the field and on the NFLRA board. “Lifetime friendships were formed during those 25 great years, which served as the second half of my wonderfully rewarding 50-year sports officiating career," Baltz said. Baltz was a head linesman in a career that started in 1989 and went through 2013. He worked 21 postseason games, including five conference championships. He also worked as a referee for three seasons in NFL Europe. He was elected treasurer of the NFLRA's board of directors in 2000 and stayed in that job through 2014. “He has given so much to our officiating community, and we are honored to celebrate his career and accomplishments," NFLRA President Tony Steratore said. A native of Lancaster, Ohio, Baltz started officiating while in college at Ohio University and was working high school football and basketball games by the time he was 19. He started officiating in college in 1984 with the Mid-American Conference and then the Big Ten.

  6. With a Straight Face, you can tell me that he worth being paid at the time of the deal I believe as a top 10 RB, I think its now 13th highest paid RB in the league...... He has 5 CAREER Touchdowns........ JUST 5...... rushing touchdowns and 14 all day He averages 10 yards per punt return.... for his career. He has fumbled 13 times in his career. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/contracts/running-back/

  7. It is a VERY impressive accomplishment for a lawyer.

  8. Definitely. I don’t know what the terms were when this game was set up, but I hope that it’s a home and home series at the very least. I’d love to see it continue beyond that though. Not to crap on the HHC, but we needed a good, quality opponent at the end of the season to get us ready for the tournament.

  9. WOW!! That is simply awesome! I’ve been wanting to see these two play each other FOREVER! It would be great if they could sustain the series...I think it would definitely help both schools come playoff time. BTW, I just noticed Chatard is also playing Warren Central second game of the season. This might not be the best year for Chatard to take on these two Indiana powerhouses given their graduation losses from last season but I am glad to see it happen regardless. Hoping these sort of games set the tone for the future. They will be good for all involved. I’d imagine there will be some degree of hype and buildup surrounding this late season match-up.

  10. Vigo County Schools currently operate 5 middle schools. There are 4 that serve Terre Haute - Honey Creek and Sarah Scott, which feed into THS, Otter Creek and Woodrow Wilson, which feed into THN. The location of Wilson MS would be ideal for a 3rd high school in Terre Haute. It would need some facility upgrades for athletics, but it makes sense to do that rather than build another high school. Reducing the size of the 2 current high schools could enable them to become 7-12 buildings as you mentioned. Wilson might not be able to hold grades 7-12, so Sarah Scott MS could serve as a feeder school. The other 2 middle schools (Honey Creek and Otter Creek) could transition to serve grades K-6, and a few current elementary buildings could be closed and sold. VCS currently operates 19 elementary schools.

  12. He has played well at times. But he’s a luxury the Bears can’t afford. Montgomery and Williams give them a better than average running back position.

  13. My favorite was a local SW Indiana team won a "National Championship" game by beating a team from the across the river in Kentucky. Sorry, but winning a tournament featuring teams that are all from less than a 2.5 hour drive hardly constitutes a national championship. But they got some really cool Cracker Jack rings.

  15. "It was awesome! We left Wednesday from New Carlisle for Evansville on Wednesday, so we needed 4 nights in a hotel....but it was so worth it to beat Laporte in the semi-finals and South Bend West in the championship!"

  16. Just noticed Columbus East finally found themselves a week 7 opponent and I am very pleased with who it is. There were less than a handful of quality opponents available but there were two I really thought would be best: Chatard and Louisville Male. Glad we landed one of them. It’ll be the first meeting between the two schools since the 1979 regional championship in which East won 20-13. There was no semistate championship round back then so East would go on to defeat Hobart in the state championship the following week. What do you think about this match-up @Lysander?

  17. Just to be clear, there is a teacher shortage in SOME subjects. Primarily Math, Science and Special Ed. I know several PE/Health, History and Elementary teachers who have struggled to find jobs. Now to the coaching. There is never one answer to a question like this, but I believe the biggest problem is Admin. Willing to coach should help a teacher get a position. I actually feel like it hurts candidates more than it helps them. I've had multiple interviews and NEVER during those interviews have I been asked "Are you willing to coach?". It's not a factor for most admin. A lot of coaches do/are willing to coach multiple sports. Until Admin makes it a priority, a coaching shortage for a lot of corporations will only get worse.

  18. This past Saturday marked the third week of the HCAC's spring season. Results: Mount St. Joseph 56 - Franklin 19 *The Griz scored quickly in the game on a 2 minute possession to start, but the Lions put up 49 straight unanswered points to put the game away midway in the 3rd quarter. Mount dominated the box score, including quarterback Josh Taylor who accounted for 7 of their 8 touchdowns (2 passing, 5 rushing, 392 total yards). MSJ moves to 1-1 on the spring season, while Franklin drops their first game and moves to 2-1. Hanover 51 - Bluffton 44 *The Panthers pounded the rock on offense (392 yards, 8.2 ypr, 7 TDs) to outlast the Beavers (357 yards passing) in an offensive shootout where both teams combined for 1,060 yards. Hanover had a 200 yard rusher and a 150 yard rusher in this back and forth affair, before scoring the game winning touchdown with 15 seconds left in the game. Hanover moves to 2-0 this spring season, while Bluffton loses their first game and moves to 2-1. Defiance 22 - Manchester 16 *A real barn-burner in which the Spartans held a 9-6 lead going into the fourth quarter before the Yellow Jackets scored 2 touchdowns and held off a late rally by Manchester. The Defiance defense had 4 sacks, 3 INTs and 2 fumble recoveries that really prevented the Spartan offense from ever gaining consistency. Defiance moves to 1-2 this spring season while Manchester falls to 0-3. As a reminder - the Rose-Hulman at Anderson game was cancelled last week.

  20. When God made man and woman, he made them different and he did not say if you don't like who you are you can choose which sex you wish to be. This entire transgender issue is not only immoral it is sickening. Those little boys who truly feel the need to compete as females are shallow and selfish and they should not be allowed to compete against girls, PERIOD! It's a shame that we have allowed our liberal government to rule who should be allowed to participate in which sports or your funds will be cut off. Why don't those idiot politicians worry about running the country and not ruining athletics. Coach Rippy Morales
