Leaving conference is fine, Leaving Conference without following what I am sure is some sort of by law for time is another. That is always a bad deal for the schools you leave behind. Leave, fine, leave with month left of school, yikes
Johnson does indeed receive his hardship waiver he will be IUs starting PG come October/November. Polarizing at times sure BUT beats all other alternatives at this point, and I have confidence he will be able to lead whatever team gets put together over the next month.
Also preparing for Dexter Dennis 2.0 as IU announces its hosting Miami (FL) grade transfer Anthony Walker. Came off the Bench for the Hurricanes this year , saw his productivity decline over the course of 4 years in Coral Gables. less than 3ppg this year and but is 13 ppg for a career (had 7 in 16 min in sweet 16 win vs Houston) for a career 6'9 forward also shot around 20 percent from 3. Not really sure the staffs thinking behind this guessing they have seen something through the tape and have done their due diligence but lets be honest no where near the portal news IUBB fans were hoping for .........
There was in the south a few years ago now. The Big 8 disbanded with Jasper and Vincennes Lincoln joining the SIAC, and the rest of the Big 8 schools joining the PAC.
But the movement we are seeing in the Indy and farther north area is something we aren’t too familiar with down here.
Pretty certain this has been said before, but Merrillville's admin won't let Seiss schedule any non-conference games other than Andrean and Hobart because they always get those games at home and the gate. Seiss has been pretty open about that fact.
Oak Hill had a caveat that the entire Grant 4 get an invite. Sort of a tough ask, but totally get them wanting to stick with their county cohort.
Eastern was a name I’d also heard. Not sure how far down the road that went, but certainly would be desirable if you’re one of the southern TRC schools.
Maybe adding Eastern is enough to entice Oak Hill?? Eastern left the MIC due to wanting to be a big fish. I think their athletic programs would compete in the TRC, but maybe not at the championship caliber they’ve become accustomed to in the HHC.
This has been a head-scratcher to me as it seemed to bring in a little more geographic balance with the Lafayette schools on the western flank, while Marion, Muncie, and Richmond comprised the east with Kokomo, Logansport, and (to a lesser extent) Tech being in the middle. I'm not real sure how long a six-team league can survives running on the fumes of yesterday.
