  1. Two questions 1. Are they using the collegiate hashes? 2. Are they using the collegiate goal posts? I guess the same could be said of games at Marian. I’m just jealous there is no comparable collegiate field in SW Indiana.
  2. Brebeuf is now 2-0 in games where their opponent scores 60+ points. It just defies all logic. OH MY indeed
  3. Curious where you got those projections. CalPreps (my standard go-to projections) has been shut down by MaxPreps/CBS Sports. The only Massey ratings I could find combined Reitz and Reitz Memorial. You would think someone would be smart enough to know the same team couldn't play Castle at Home and @ Bosse on the same day. For what it's worth, Reitz Memorial has a 60% chance to beat Reitz Memorial this week.
  4. Best wishes to those trying to find gate & concession workers, gameday personnel, custodial, and most importantly officials, who now have to scramble.
  5. If Coach Nickerson would have had Rifleman hold the ball, we would have won. #NeverForget
  6. In high school we practiced the FG return (short kick or block) and also the fair-catch free kick. I guess my coach just knew the rules so I assumed others did as well. Perhaps he was just in the rare group that studied rules.
  7. That is a great question. I'm surprised a HS coach would NOT know this rule, but maybe I am overestimating their knowledge of the rule book. I would guess it comes down to your opponent. If the opponent is well-coached, they know it's returnable so their best athlete has his heels on Goalline (NFHS rules) and the FG unit usually has bigger lineman. 53 1/3 yards is a lot of room for a skill player to juke a lineman. It's been a known rule around Southern Indiana ever since Jay Cutler caught a short field goal and went 99.5 yards for a TD.
  8. We lived out of state during the 1980's, so I missed the "Cluster" system. Although I have heard others mention the "Cluster Buster" format. Not sure I really heard them right, or my memory has faded since it was explained to me. Did two teams really show up to play essentially an overtime - 4 plays from the 10 on offense and defense to determine the Cluster buster?
  9. If I had tech skills, I would insert the Clint Eastwood/ Gran Torino face meme. Ugh.
  10. I mean - last year the MD/Mem game was 9-6 and 2019 was 10-3. So a rock fight wouldn't be out of the norm.
  11. Just stepping all over Boom's thread from earlier in the week. Rodney Dangerfield voice: No respect, I tell ya. No respect. 😄 https://gridirondigest.net/topic/14800-pac-week-2-games/
  12. Random thought - doesn’t Marian only have stands on the home side? How does that work for fans?
  13. In the YouTube linked video above. At the 1:45:00 mark, on the punt in question the backjudge appears to throw what looks like a white bean bag forward to around the 13-14 yard line. Which is why I was asking. If he threw a bag what that might have indicated.
  14. Could you explain the BJ's normal mechanics on a punt? Why did the back judge throw a bean bag around the 10-11 yard line? I thought the bag was thrown to mark the first touching.
  15. With the closed conference schedule, not much to get worked up about with Sagarin until week 11 or 12. Perhaps one day there will be expansion and divisions, which means a chance to slide in some non-conference games.
  16. Coach said they were switching to the Wing T on offense and 6-2 stack monster on D
  17. Somehow it slipped off my radar this year. Not sure how/why. I watched the first quarter replay last night after the fact. Seemed fairly even, although you could tell the South’s DL was gonna cause some issues. And the RB from Brownsburg was extremely impressive.
  18. Klem’s accolades are well known. Campbell is a new name to me.
  19. Based on the photos it looks like a Tug of War tournament… and some skinny guys decided to play catch. lol
  20. The lineman dominance of a wishbone team vs the passing skills of a spread team. Tale as old as time! Should make for two great matchups this year.
  21. My only distinction is between titles won on the field/court vs ‘mythical’ titles. In 1956 (or pretty much any year prior to the 80’s) Team A was 10-0 and claims a title because of a press vote. That’s not the same as a team that won via tournament. JMHO
  22. Rumor is they moved all the dirt from Castle’s crown to a hole in Arizona. Now the Grand Canyon is only the ‘Moderately good’ Canyon.
  23. I have a friend who lives in the Decatur, IL area. I have seen some highlights of Rochester online. Their screen/quick passing game is something else. Should be a good matchup with lots of offense - and I would bet the over.
  24. I hate that a local school can't offer both Mechanical Engineering and FCS football like they did 25 years ago.
  25. I'm curious the net effect on Jasper as well. Memorial and VL were already on their schedule, but they gave up HH and SR games to pick up Reitz and Castle. Bosse, Harrison, and Central gates would probably be less than Wash, BV, and MTV.
