What is the fastest TD you have seen in a game.
Mine was a failed on side kick that was scored it like 6 sec or so.

Opening kickoff, muffed by the receiving team, recovered on the 10 yard line…

Play action pass from the 10.

6-0, 8 seconds in.

Kudos to anyone who can cite the game.

This wasn't at start of the game, but this past season we scored 2 TDs in the matter of 20 seconds v. Adams Central.

:33 left in 2nd quarter: QB scrambles and scores on long TD run.

Pop Up kick, KOR team botches it and we recover.

Next offensive play, Play Action pass that hit a wheel up the sideline.

We kicked off to AC with :14.1 remaining in the 2nd quarter.

Unbelievable flurry of plays by the Railroaders.

WW/Pekin game a few years back was a flea flicker TD by Pekin followed by a failed onside returned for a TD. Was 8-6 about 20 seconds into game.

IF in fact it "was" a pop-up kick...then it was a botched call by the officiating crew!  That is blatantly illegal... its, NOT your ball its a penalty against the Railroaders.

Just sayin

POP-UP KICK RULES 2-24-10 (NEW); 6-1-11 (NEW); 6-1 PENALTY (NEW)  A pop-up kick is a free kick in which the kicker drives the ball immediately to the ground, the ball strikes the ground once and goes into the air in the manner of a ball kicked directly off the tee. Such kicks will be penalized as a dead-ball foul.

This has been in place since 2017.

Not sure if it was the fastest but Sheridan literally scored I believe on the 1st play of the game with NZ at QB 2005-2009 each time we played them, for sure 3 years in a row, not sure in 2005 legendary game they won 35-32, but I digress.   For the record, same play each time I think @Ballhawk

Not a pop-up kick in the sense that is referenced here. I was using our terminology. The kick was a high directional kick that was muffed.

This is not the point of this thread, so I apologize to the original poster, but I have asked about 5 different crews about this exact rule and gotten about 5 different answers.  My question is specific to "sky kicks" where in the kicker kicks the ball at an incredibly steep angle directly in the air, not striking the ground first.  I have been told that such kicks are illegal under the "pop-up kick rules" and have actually been told that we would need to do exactly what the text of this rule seems to specifically rule out.  Very frustrating; I've had fantastic success with sky kicks in the past, but haven't used them since 2017 because of disputes over this rule.

As to quickest scores: as with a previous poster, it came after halftime, but I told our kick-off return team coming out of halftime of a game years ago that it was going to be the only shot we had to return one all night, so we'd better house it.  My returners actually played rock-paper-scissors to decide which one of them got to take the return.  We took it back from about our own 30 in about 5ish seconds, but it got called back on a very cheap block in the back... we scored roughly 2 plays later...

Worked a game once where the opening kickoff went out of bounds untouched. No time off the clock. First snap is a 65 yd TD pass. Kicked the point, 7-0 at 11:49 of the first. Ensuing kickoff returned for a TD. PAT good. 7-7 at 11:37 of the 1st. Kickoff then returned for a TD. 14-7 at 11:25 of the 1st period. 3 TDs and there had been 1 play from scrimmage.

It was the Bremen Eastbrook i thing in 2018. East brook kicked off, and no return. First play from the 20, Bremen went 80 yards on a pass. 6-0 Bremen with 2 seconds off the clock. 1 play, 80 yards, 2 seconds. Fastest land speed record by a human ever. The receiver was on nitrous, or maybe the clock keep was slow.

My Junior year 2009 at Dwenger in the Regional. First play from scrimmage BD has a bad gun snap that rolls to QB, RB picks it up and goes 70+ for a TD. I believe you were working that game @Bobref

If you’re talking about Delta @ Dwenger, yes our crew had that game.

Not the fastest TD ever but in an oddity, NP was beating Lowell 21-6 before the red devils took an offensive snap a few years ago.

- NP takes opening kickoff for a TD 7-0

- Lowell takes kickoff for a TD 7-6

- NP scores on next possession 14-6

- Lowell fumbles kick return

- NP scores on next possession 21-6

Snider opens up against Homestead with a kick return for a touchdown in 2002. Many games start out this way, but I wanted to share this one because I think that Homestead team was one of the better teams that won't ever be remembered. Snider won 23-21 on a last second field goal, then went on to state a few weeks later only to lose to Ben Davis by a score of 31-7. Homestead held six opponents scoreless that year. Their ultimate doom was twofold. Snider, one of the best coaching staffs in the state, had two weeks to prepare versus the one week that Homestead had. And that opening kick for a touchdown. Ben Davis beat the second best team in Fort Wayne (in my opinion) that season for the state championship.
