This game will be talked about for many generations. Eastbrook makes two unbelievable plays to send the game to overtime and then proceed to win on a 2-pt conversion. The video shows just how incredible the final 4.4 seconds of regulation turned out to be.

Was in awe watching the end of that game on film. No quit in the Eastbrook Panthers was the message I got. Can't wait for this Friday. I think we might see another great game that might come down to the end as well between the Zebras and Panthers this coming Friday. 9-1 TRC Champs vs 10-0 CIC Champs in Round 2. Looking forward to it. Hope the Panthers stay healthy throughout the week and both teams can be at their best to duke it out for the chance to play in the Sectional Championship.

Here’s the thing. One of the “laterals” on the play was very close to being forward. I couldn’t tell. If it was forward, that’s an illegal forward pass, a foul that carries with it a loss of down provision. A foul that includes loss of down does not extend the period. So, if there was a forward pass, the game should have been over.

There may have been a block in the back towards the end of the play also, about the 10 or 15 yard line.

I don’t have a dog in the fight but it looked like a forward pass to me. I know the camera was at an angle rather than right on the line but it sure seemed like the ball was caught ahead of the player who passed/lateraled it.

I believe that is what they called, which led to the untimed down and the hail mary

Oh, OK, I guess I didn't follow closely enough.

Gosh- Alexandria must be gutted- what an awful way to lose a ballgame. And armchair QB’ing is for losers…but the first thing I noticed on the fateful lateral play was “5 down defensive lineman??”

I know Eastbrook has a vaunted run game…but they had to go 80 yards in 7 seconds.

From my viewing angle, I couldn't tell if it was a forward lateral or not.

it was 100% a forward lateral,

hard to see but ball in the air

ball caught, still farther ahead of the other player

but it didnt get called oh well

you can't give up 123 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2 plays (4 seconds).

but i did enjoy listening to the background screeching about the refs being wrong, at least I only yell when they are actually wrong

Another very strange aspect of this play. Alexandria had 12 players on the field prior to the snap. The 12th player was able to get before the snap thus now foul. If he had stayed on the field not gotten off before the snap, it would have been a double foul. There would still be an untimed down, but it would have been from the previous spot! In a very strange rule anomaly, Alexandria would have benefited by fouling during the play!

Were these pictures downloaded from your Commodore 64? Or is it a TRS-80?

I just went back and watched it.  #10 flicks it to his teammate and it is definitely caught a yard or two forward.  Feel awful for Alexandria for that to be missed.  That's football though.  Officials miss calls sometimes..

The call was illegal forward pass. The penalty is loss of down and does not extend a half if accepted. By the way the rule reads the game should have been over.

That wasn't the call at all.

Obvious in the video that an illegal forward pass happened. If this wasn't the call then what was?

Block in the back

(Later in the play i didn't care to look for it)

They missed the forward pass call almost as bad as Alexandria missed 115 tackles

Block in the back. They missed the first one of those also, and called one further downfield.

The one they missed was at the opposite 40 yard line, the one they actually called was 25 yards from the end zone where Eastbrook scored.
