So if I’m reading this right, 6A will have 33 teams this fall.

And 34 in 5A. Thought only 32 in each? Seems odd.

33 in 5A.  I think the intention is to set classes in all sports by enrollment first and not move any teams down in response to another team’s bump so no team benefits from another team’s success factor move.

I also assume it’s to ensure 6A doesn’t go to 31 teams in the event Decatur Central doesn’t get the points needed this fall to remain in 6A in 2027.

Someone gets a 5th team in one of the Sectionals in 6A. Do they do it up north or down south? It's a bit messy. I could see them sending Zionsville south with Pike, BD, Brownsburg and Avon then sliding Harrison into Sectional 4. Gets really interesting between Sectionals 2 & 3. Which FW team goes to 2 as Homestead, Carroll and Northrop could all be candidates since they won't split HSE & Fishers.

Guess 1

Sectional 1 Sectional 2 Sectional 3 Sectional 4
Crown Point Penn Fishers Carmel
Lake Central Elkhart HSE Westfield
Merrillville Valpo Carroll Zionsville
Portage Homestead FW Northrop Noblesville
Harrison (WL)

Sectional 5 Sectional 6 Sectional 7 Sectional 8
Ben Davis North Central DC Jeffersonville
Avon Warren FC Whiteland
Brownsburg LN Perry Columbus N
Pike LC Southport CG

Guess 2

Sectional 1 Sectional 2 Sectional 3 Sectional 4
Crown Point Penn Fishers Carmel
Lake Central Elkhart HSE Westfield
Merrillville Valpo Carroll Harrison (WL)
Portage Homestead FW Northrop Noblesville

Based on the numbers provided so far and assuming there won't be any changes when the IHSAA officially releases them(not counting on it), here's an idea of every class and the possible sectionals for each team based off of what I think will happen. I will admit I am most interested in 2A, so didn't put as much thought into the other 5 classes but I tried my best, enjoy.

Taylor and Churubusco should be taken out of 2A map and be pinned in 1A map.  West Vigo and Cascade should be taken out of 3A map and be pinned in 2A map.

But thanks for making.  I enjoy looking at these...

Yes, I created this before the officially numbers were released. Will try to update before the end of the day and send it back out.

That’s not a bad prediction. Probably how it should be. However, I do see them potentially making Decatur be in the 5 team sectional. You’re right though, several different ways 6A can go.

I’ll try 5A…

North:

Munster, Hammond Central, Chesterton, LaPorte, Michigan City

Goshen, Concord, SB Adams, Warsaw

FW South, FW Wayne, FW Snider, Huntington North

Lafayette Jeff, McCutcheon, Anderson, Pendleton Heights

South:

Mt Vernon, Cathedral, Greenfield, New Pal

Plainfield, Franklin, Arsenal Tech, Seymour

Bloomington N, Bloomington S, TH South, TH North

Castle, Evansville N, Floyd central, New Albany

Chatard isn't in 3A either...

2A South adds the defending 3A state champs (Cascade) and the defending 1A state champs (South Putnam), in addition to Providence.

2A South is loaded.

Remember though, this is somewhat misleading:   For instance;   Adams Central is 3a but SF with Lower end 2A enrollment

Same with Lakeland is solid 3a, but bc pushed down to 2a with SF then that number is also misleading on the conversations of GAPS.

One thing is still jarring for me personally, I am now in year 23 at Rensselaer, we've been as high as the 540s in my time, now, we are only 62 students away from the 1a top......   I looked this week:  K-5th grade, we have only 600 total bodies.

Somebody help me out. I've heard Illiana Christian is playing football this year correct? They wouldn't be eligible for playoffs yet would they?

They are in the list, this maybe their "JV" year, then in 2027 would be in the tournament series, however, not sure if IHSAA makes schools transition in that way or not.   I can do some digging to my Northern Region 1 pals.  see what I come up with

Should've done some more digging on the paper sent out. They have the plus by them which says at the bottom tournament eligible.

HAHA get the Luers fans fired up. Lose the 3A State Championship, reward...go to 4A. Cascade wins the 3A State Championship, reward...go to 2A. Something isn't quite adding up right here.

I think I could see Decatur be placed in sectional 7 with FC, Warren, Perry, Southport.

I almost had exactly what you have. Only difference is that I have the Terre Haute schools with Plainfield and Tech due to the ease of access via I-70 and the Bloomington schools with Franklin and Seymour.

Yes. That's definitely possible.

I guess I didn’t think about that. I think I prefer your thought better. Makes more sense.
