Ranking the North: (North of Lafayette)

1.     Carroll (Better than last year........maybe by two touchdowns)

2.    Crown Point (Coaching)

3.    Merrillville (Talent)

4.    Penn (Yoeman teams are like a yoyo, this one is on the upside)

5.    Snider (Penalties will doom them somewhere along the way to Lucas)

6.    Norwell (2022 State Champions 3A - take it to the bank)

7.    Northwood (New Pal better be ready)

8.   North Side (The Legends are close, just not close enough)

9.   Mishawaka (Thinking 5A is the Snider/Merrillville/North Side show could be deadly)

10. Columbia City (Yep, don't sleep on the Eagles)

Warsaw might take exception to their neighbors being ranked ahead of them.

North of Kokomo :). If I were to place them somewhere, it would probably be right behind North Side. Week 9 will answer some questions for the Wildcats.

Loads of respect for Kokomo. That team they had in 2015 was really good. Their 6'3", 290 lb running back still gives me nightmares.

Tailback. The stats are just what I remember seeing, not necessarily fact. He was a beast to bring down.

Was he #87? Looking at their stats, it’s amazing they had 3 1100+ yard rushers in the 2015 season

I don't remember his number, only that he was scary.

What if this happens?  2022 State Champions

6a Brownsburg or Center Grove

5a Whiteland or Bloomington South

4a New Palestine

3a Chatard or West Lafayette

2a Evansville Mater Dei

1a Indy Lutheran

Fort Wayne could be shut out again, just like last year.  I think only 3 teams north of Logansport have won state in the last 4 years, Andrean in 2021 and in 2018 Pioneer and FW Dwenger

Could be.  But that doesn't mean that FW hasn't made strides in their ability to be a force within their respective Classes.

The top of the SAC is a force.  Then there is Luers in 2A.  I have faith that ALL will be fine (though not a State Finalist) in 2022

Depends on the "crew" that has their game...  Just sayin

Snider and North Side are both too low, especially North Side. Carroll is very good, but if Snider has their RB1 in that game, it is very likely Snider beats Carroll. North Side probably should have beaten Snider, losing 20-18. Penn is too high and so is Crown Point. Carry on…

Who would win in a Snider/Carroll rematch is debatable. With RB1 in the game, these teams are dead even. Maybe a slight advantage to Carroll.

North Side was playing catch up the entire game. Not sure how you came up with "should have beaten." They'll get their chance again in the tournament and possibly prove you right.

I don’t want to be right about North Side possibly beating Snider, but I think you are vastly underrating them. Snider will have their hands full should they play again.

My Jets should have held on to that lead last year but didn't.

I agree that North has a good shot at taking Snider out of sectionals. I just didn't agree with Snider "should have lost" the first time around.

I think you are under selling Snider. Yes, their long history of dumb flags always makes me anxious. That "team" can show up any time. any place with no warning.

Snider has the personnel to win state. I'm just not sure they can beat North Side again or Merrillville with 10+ penalties.

With regard to the rankings, Carroll in my opinion has earned their way to #1. The next four teams could fall in any order. The next four after that are more than capable. It's just an opinion poll. The only poll that counts is the one after Thanksgiving. Then the only teams anyone will remember are the six hoisting the championship trophy and the other six that said "at least we made it there."

Congrats to Coach Gerber. I knew he had a couple of lean years his first few there. Appears they have been quite the contender in 3A north the last few.

Edit: I thought he was a Norwell alum. I don’t think that is true

Welp Luers has to get past Eastside first...

New Pal would run over Northwood like there not even there , game would get ugly .
