I do not know. Perhaps you could contact your math expert friend and have him conduct a statistical analysis of two separate forum members submitting down votes within 60 seconds of each other four times in 83 minutes when only 67 members are in this club. The chances of that happening must be atronomical.2 points

It is more difficult to do that for a phone. As I said before, it is the server a person accesses that assigns an ip address. That said, do you really think anyone is willing to put that kind of time and effort to simply maintain two separate id’s here?2 points

I’m on record as saying anyone who doesn’t go along with public masking is an inconsiderate jerk. Here’s a post I made on another thread. Seeing lots of resistance to wearing masks. “A cloth mask is not going to stop a virus particle.” I think public health authorities could do a better job of explaining the justification for universal public masking. https://www.healthline.com/health-news/face-masks-importance-battle-with-covid19 Why Face Masks Are Crucial Now in the Battle Against COVID-19 As confirmed cases of COVID-19 continue to rise, the CDC is recommending that everyone wear a cloth mask when they go out in public. Experts say the homemade masks won’t protect someone from getting sick, but they can help prevent the spread of the disease by those with the virus. Experts also recommend that everyone continue social distancing and other preventive measures in addition to wearing face coverings. All data and statistics are based on publicly available data at the time of publication. Some information may be out of date. Visit our coronavirus hub and follow our live updates page for the most recent information on the COVID-19 outbreak. Public use of face masks has been common in China and other nations in Asia since the beginning of the new coronavirus disease outbreak. Now, as the United States faces an increasing number of COVID-19confirmed cases and deaths, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has started advisingTrusted Source Americans to wear masks, too. “We now know from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms (“asymptomatic”) and that even those who eventually develop symptoms (“pre-symptomatic”) can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms,” according to the advisory published by the CDC. “This means that the virus can spread between people interacting in close proximity — for example, speaking, coughing, or sneezing — even if those people are not exhibiting symptoms.” “In light of this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission,” the advisory stated. The CDC supported its new position by citing several studies about the asymptomatic spread of the disease, the first of which was published on March 5 in the New England Journal of Medicine. “It is becoming increasingly clear that all people should be wearing masks while out in public. Masks are a likely reason why the virus has been better controlled in China, South Korea, Japan, and other countries,” Dr. Subinoy Das, chief medical officer of Tivic Health and the chief executive officer of the U.S. Institute for Advanced Sinus Care and Research, told Healthline. The CDC is recommending, not requiring, mask use when going out in public. The agency stressed that the advisory applies to cloth masks — including homemade masks — not hospital-grade surgical masks and microparticle-filtering N95 masks. “Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders,” according to the CDC. Protecting others, not you When asked about the CDC recommendation, President Donald Trump indicated that he would not comply. “I just don’t want to wear one myself,” the president told reporters. Most experts say you should. “Masks should be worn anytime you are in public or people are nearby. Masks act as a physical barrier to protect you and others from viral and bacterial particulates. Many people unknowingly infect others by going out and spreading germs by coughing or touching others,” Keane Veran, co-founder and chief executive officer of Oura, a maker of face masks, told Healthline. “You can go out in public areas without a mask if there is no one nearby. Otherwise, regardless if it’s close quarters or spaced out, you should wear a mask with others around. This is precaution and courtesy to yourself and those nearby you.” A cloth mask alone is unlikely to prevent you from inhaling microscopic virus particles, according to Rodney Rohde, PhD, chair of the Clinical Laboratory Science Program and associate dean for research at the College of Health Professions at Texas State University. “The coronavirus will go right through cloth and bandanas… but it will provide a bit of respiratory protection, which can reduce depositing of droplets of the virus on surfaces and to people near you,” Rohde told Healthline. Dr. Luke Padwick, an emergency physician and founder of Austin Emergency Center in Texas, likens the benefit of wearing a mask to coughing or sneezing into your elbow. “Wearing a mask is good for two reasons: It’s going to cut down 95 percent of the breathing that sends the virus up to 6 feet away in a room, and also will reduce fecal/oral transmission by preventing the virus from getting into your nose or mouth” if you touch a contaminated surface and then your face,” Padwick told Healthline. “I think this will slow down the virus a lot.”2 points

Practice is great July 1st What I would hate to see is all sports all teams do a mad rush and start trying to schedule 7 on 7s, 11 on 11s, 1 day shootouts, insert countless other competition days Be happy to work with your kids in house and prepare what you need to do in house during those times. For 1 summer, I am sure the schools can get by with elimination of competition days Just one guys thoughts1 point

Personally? One I do know. The other, I know enough of to reach the conclusion I did. Social media has been pretty cool as far as connecting with people I would have never encountered outside of it. It would be fun to sit down with those guys and throw a few pints back.1 point

@TrojanDad and I are submitting downvotes within 60 seconds of each other this morning. Does this mean he and I are the same person? Pretty funny that the guy who whines the most about receiving downvotes has received far fewer downvotes than I have. You don't see me whining about them. Grow up.1 point

Nowhere near as astronomical of over 1,000 people not knowing a single person who has contracted the coronavirus, or the notion that you talked to every single one of those people either day you made those assertions. 🤣 lol1 point

Once again guys, the downward spiral with the name calling and personal digs back and forth is getting ridiculous. It is sad too. I know everyone here is better than this. How about people put each other on ignore for a while?1 point

As for the current belief of two members here being the same person, I went ahead and checked. One has a consistent ip address that comes from the Nappanee and South Bend area. The other has a consistent ip address from the Noblesville area. Not sure if that helps, but the consistency of seeing the same ip address over the course of several days indicates they cannot be the same person.1 point

And he was caught by the two guys who are the owners of this forum. It was discussed in our admin forum and 09er was called out on it, and the other id’s were deleted.1 point

He didn't ask for the positive points. He asked what would happen when his serial down voter succeeded in his goal of turning his "reputation" rating to negative points. One of the moderators offered to award positive points and he accepted. Shortly thereafter, Muda was awarded 20,000 positive points.1 point
-
While this is true, my experience from having done this before is that most of us will have a consistent ip address. If there is an issue and it appears that someone is posting within a short period of time from various locations around the country in a short period of time, then we can look into further. So, if someone posted from an ip address that is out of Indy one minute, and two posts later the ip address is from say Virginia, then it may be something fishy.1 point

Apparently one or more of the moderator(s) considered the serial down voting of Muda as harrassment as he was awarded 20,000 positive points. This forum has a neo-liberal and his alter ego submitting serial down votes to anyone who threatens his "safe space". Hilarious!1 point

First of all, we did. Public masking was common in Europe and Asia during their various outbreaks, and even in this country earlier in the 20th Century during severe flu outbreaks. But more importantly, as has been pointed out several times, in several ways, attempting to draw parallels between this virus and any of the influenza strains is both misleading and dangerous. As far as the difference between a law and a recommendation, that’s why I didn’t refer to those refusing to wear masks as criminals ... although they may be considered such in some places. I referred to them as “inconsiderate jerks,” which is what someone who literally endangers the lives of others in order to avoid a temporary and minor inconvenience is.1 point

I keep offering him one of my Crosby or Malkin jerseys to wear, he just won't. Lol1 point

The plot thickens! Now what we need is a good, old-fashioned snitch. How about if the admins award points as a bounty to whoever comes forward with information that leads to the unmasking of this dual-ID fiend?1 point

I agree with this as long as my Constitutional right to be safe are not jeopardized by your actions. I read about someone bragging about getting by the "mask police" at Menards only to take it off once inside possibly endangering everyone in that store only thinking about himself and HIS rights. I'm sorry, but this guy is a tool !1 point

Got me curious now......you know we can see ip addresses on every post as admins, and we can check those for location? If you have a suspicion, let me know.1 point

We can also agree, can’t we, that if the shoe were on the other foot, the Republicans would be screaming just as loudly? These days I find myself inching ever closer to your “uni-party” stance. Disturbing.1 point

The School Closures Are a Big Threat to the Power of Public Schools https://mises.org/wire/school-closures-are-big-threat-power-public-schools Many parents may not like what they see, and as many increasingly take on the job of providing in-person instruction, school teachers won't look quite like like the highly trained heroes they have long claimed to be. Budget Cuts With the image of schools as indispensable social institutions quickly fading, the political advantage they have long enjoyed will rapidly disappear as well. It wasn't long ago that schools could go back to the taxpayers again and again with with demands for more money, more resources, and higher salaries. Teacher unions endlessly lectured the taxpayers about how getting your child into a classroom with one of their teachers was of the utmost importance. Voters, regardless of political ideology or party, were often amendable to the idea. That narrative is already greatly in danger, and the longer the COVID-19 panic ensures that schools remain closed, the more distant the memory of the old narrative will become. As school budgets contract, school districts from Las Vegas to Denver and across the nation are bracing for furloughs and layoffs. With smaller staff, fewer teachers, and smaller budgets, expect virtual public learning to become even more bare bones, and less rewarding and engaging for students. What Will Things Look like This Fall? Even if schools open this fall, the reforms currently being pushed will ensure that schools continue to lack many of the amenities many have come to expect. If these reforms are adopted, students can forget about social events. They can expect shorter school days, and an ongoing role for online schooling. Team sports will be gone. Old notions of universal mandatory attendance and long days will seem increasingly quaint and old fashioned—or possibly even dangerous. For many parents, this will just reinforce their growing suspicions that public schools just aren't worth it anymore. Maybe they never were.-1 points

Dan Ellington referenced Obamagate and gonzoron claimed he had never heard of Obamagate. I highly doubt this is true however, it could be possible. He strikes me as the kind of guy who gathers information from CNN, MSNBC, Vox, Guardian and the neo-liberal mainstream media. A lot of far left progressives view Obamagate very similar to conservatives.-1 points

This forum has at least one member who utilizes multiple user ID's. There are only 67 members in this club. I have seen multiple instances where two user ID's have submitted down votes within 60 seconds of each other on several occasions. Both user ID's have demonstrated a previous pattern of serial down voting. That isn't a coincidence. That is one person who maintains multiple user ID's.-1 points
