  7. This is a bit of a ridiculous statement. Luers had some amazing players, but Eastside was the better team. This was clear to anyone who watched that game with unbiased eyes. SAC fans need to swallow their pride and accept the fact that there are non-SAC teams in NE Indiana that could compete with the top teams in their conference. The non-SAC schools that could compete with Luers, etc. change from year to year, but they're out there each year. SAC is definitely the best conference in the NE corner, but Eastside was the better overall team last year - not just the night they played - last year, period. They also beat them in 2019 and took Luers to the wire in 2020. To say Luers should have won state is also crazy because they would've had to go through Eastbrook and Andrean just to get to LOS. All of that being said, great preview of the conference! I appreciate people sharing as much info as you did about each program.

  8. Yes, it’s time. Time to give it up. Call it a day. Head on down the road. Vamoose. Take off. You won’t have ole gonzoron to kick around any more, I’m movin’ on. I’m rollin’ on. I’m flyin’ too high for your little ole sky. When I first joined the GID 12 years ago, it was to bash P/P’s, one in particular. I got schooled on that by a guy whose main mode of transportation is a John Deere tractor. Once I saw the light, I let all that go. When an opening came up in the OOB after a crash, I was all over it. Most of my post count came from those glory days, ah the good ole days. They always say “you’ll know when it’s time” and they were right. I’m going with more positive reactions than anyone in GID History. I know, I know, I’m listed as 3rd in reputation points, but that’s just due to all the downvotes I received in the process. If you all would be so kind, I can still make it to the top with your cooperation in downvoting that guy in the striped shirt and The Professor every chance you get. Thank you for your support. After driving one of my children to an athletic event or team practice for 35 out of the last 40 years, that era has ended also. I’m gonna have a lot of time on my hands. No more waiting at the school burning up gas in the winter and summer, no more phone calls saying ‘practice is over early’, no more cries of ‘you left me at the rest area’, no more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I’m old. I’m tired. Get off my lawn. Sincerely, Gonzo

  10. Most certainly, but you have to plan for the future while winning in the present. I’ve learned to read through the coach speak over the years, it’s all optics and controlling the story. Side note: Anyone claiming the BD shooting ordeal didn’t play a factor or speed up the process is also lying through their teeth. Sometimes the hot girl is also blind.

  11. They've always been tough at the front and middle. It really comes down to the secondary in this pass heavy conference.

  12. I believe so yes. And reasons of them winning in majority of every sport. It was a way for them to kick them out.

  13. Don’t you have to get the hot girl, before you can dump her?

  15. Every guy (even @gonzoron) has pulled this trick so they can tell their friends they dumped the hot girl before she dumped him. Oldest trick in the playbook.

  16. You stated both schools “boldly assumed they would be voted in”. I think he simply asking you for a source to prove they truly made the assumption that membership was a given. My guess is that that is a personal opinion. At the end of the day, does it matter?

  17. You said, "Center Grove and Carmel made monumental miscalculations by boldly assuming that they would both be voted in to the Hoosier Crossroads Conference." I quoted it above and asked you where and when they made the assumption. I'll add a "who" to the question because it appears to me you are pulling it out of your backside and slinging it at everybody.

  21. Center Grove would have been the best team in either state last year but Michigan has some very good top end teams. Michigan produces a ton of top end talent however, much more than Indiana.

  23. Michigan is deeper but I think the top teams in Indiana in general are a little better most years.

  25. @DTI have zero issues with you making your opinions and arguments... just us facts to make them. You come across more credible that way in my opinion instead of someone who just throws crap against the wall and seeing what sticks. Take it as you will.

  27. That was the plan and then IU lost 2 starting QB's in 2 weeks. Dexter Williams who was the third string QB tore his ACL fall camp so can't imagine McCulley getting hardly any reps right up until the time he was thrown to the wolves. Tough year for the Hoosiers.

  31. Actually, the 1973 game was even better. I was a senior then. The crowd was unbelievable. First offensive play of the game, Pat Haden throws a flanker screen to Lynn Swann, and Luther Bradley bust through the screen and almost decapitates Swann. Knocked his helmet off and it rolled through the end zone. I thought the walls were coming down.

  32. I hate SC, but actually like the fight song, as well as the other tune they play….no clue the name of it. That is as long as I do not have to hear either of them that often.

  33. I got to experience my first SC game a couple seasons ago. While I have been to several games, that one was unlike any other, and it was awesome, including seeing the SC band march around outside the stadium. There were a lot of SC fans around as well, so there was some solid trash talking while tailgating as well. It was a great day.

  35. I’ll try this again. I made this post earlier this morning, and it looked fine. But when I looked at it 30 min. later, there was a completely different image clip attached to my post, and I have no idea how it got there. It was too late for me to edit it. So, I’m trying it again. Got some tickets yesterday to the Notre Dame - Cal game this September. Coach Freeman announced earlier this week that the Irish will wear green for that game. Made me think back to the very first “green jersey” game of the modern era, the 1977 USC game. I was there that day and it was one of the most electrifying moments I’ve experienced in that stadium … and there have been a lot of them. The Irish hammered #1 USC that day, 49-19, on their way to a national championship. What many people don’t remember is when the Irish came out of the tunnel they were preceded by a large “Trojan Horse,” and no one had any idea what that was about. The idea was actually Digger Phelps’ and Coach Devine embraced it. Probably his finest moment as ND Coach.

  37. The football coaching staffs of Ben Davis and Carmel and Center Grove have good personal relationships. I believe that is why thse rivalries have continued. Plus, BD/Carmel predates the MIC back to the 50's. They regularly started playing in 1981. I, for one, am glad that these games are continuing. Especially the Carmel series.

  39. 1. It's really been the Snider, Dwenger, Homestead show since 2015. Carroll hasn't done anymore than Bishop Luers since joining the conference. That's not a jab at the Chargers, just the truth. All eyes are on North Side this year, but I've got to see it to believe it. Until then, the conference still belongs to the forementioned three teams. 2. If North Side can do it then so can we? Or do we commit to the kids who have been in the program from the beginning? I believe in the latter, even if it's at the expense of a few victories. Good question, just don't know the answer. 3. So you're going with Norwell? 4. It's very rare that the SAC doesn't have at least one linemen ranked among the states best. I think this is one of those years. 5. Eastside.........Luers worst nightmare. They've been a matchup problem for the Knights as of late. 6. Adams Central and South Adams own that conference. Plain and simple.

  42. Allen put in a lot of work and made a huge jump in his game from Junior to Senior year, I think a lot of dedicated HS players make a similar kind of jump and I would expect no less from Wunderlich.

  44. IU isn’t going anywhere unless it’s by choice. There are lesser teams in terms of viewership and revenue producers than IU who would be shown the door first. As far as Purdue goes in owning the city of Indianapolis, I don’t think IU is missing out on much in terms of potential. Tibbs has the potential to be a deep threat weapon down the road but the rest of Berglund, Heldt, McWilliams, Theinemam, and Burhenn have pretty meh offer lists, mostly MAC and G5 schools. Mickens and Lauck would have been solid gets but the competition is fierce. Rightfully, people are down on IU after last years debacle. They hit the portal hard this off-season and I think they have some solid pieces to work with. Brutal schedule again this year but hopefully this is the last of the division imbalance. If they can get decent QB play out of the Mizzou transfer, they’ll be more competitive than you think.
