  1. Sorry about the down time. I was upgrading everything in preparation for a new season and things went south. It really wasn't a major deal, but if took me a couple hours of reading to see what had changed in the new version of mySQL to fix the issue. I just had to add a line to the config file because the new version requires it although all the previous versions did not. Carry on, back to the football discussions.

  3. Well.. that's the rule. If you move, basically, you'll be eligible. Or, don't move and prove you're transferring schools for non-athletic reasons. That's the other part of the rule. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't really care whether or not they allow a one-time transfer, I wouldn't, but not really a hill I care to die on. I'm just saying it's stupid to do it in the name of "well teachers and coaches move jobs, so we should just let 14yr olds flip flop schools." That's all.

  4. Facts!!! There have been different discussions on here that NIL will eventually permeate the high school level. Day that happens, I will most likely transfer my passion of high school football to the middle school level… Lol

  5. That's different then what I was saying. It wasn't said the prep work was done (I probably should have known that).... it was said they were getting ready to "start" on Castles. I completely agree (and even mentioned as much) that these crews "once they get going" get the job done quick.

  6. They have all the prep work done. I think its just a matter of installing the carpet. Those crews are incredibly efficient, so we'll see.

  7. They don't act like adults more than they did a decade ago though, that's the issue. Why have any rules honestly? Why are they even made to go to school? I mean, what if they don't want to?

  8. If the kids want to transfer, then transfer... move districts and go to a new school. The fact coaches and teachers move JOBS is 1000000% irrelevant to this discussion and quite honestly shouldn't be brought up. Coaches, teachers, and students are 3 completely different entities--- never understood why anyone would compare a student to a coach. There really isn't much to compare. Do you know many students with a mortgagee, car payment, 8 month old daughter, wife, etc?

  9. If Team Indiana were a separate nation, it would rank 12th in Olympic medal standings: https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/olympics/2024/08/08/indiana-athletes-having-a-golden-summer-at-paris-olympics-cole-hocker-sarah-hildebrandt-chloe-dygert/74718687007/

  10. Our youngest daughter and Cole are the same age. I used to watch Cole run HS track meets for some invites that include both the boys and girls teams. He was so very good in high school. But, never thought I'd watch that young man win a gold medal in the Olympics and set a OR. That was simply beyond cool!! A number of Hoosiers really representing in these games!!!! Making us all proud!

  11. I guess that would depend on the definition of "Pure." When someone says the high school game should be left pure, I envision a scenario where kids grow up together and attend their local high school together. I think of the movie The Sandlot. High school sports have not been like that for a long time. Open enrollment, private schools, and even allowing transfers between high schools has changed all of this. If we are comparing this what we now have in college, as a fan I don't like all the movement. I enjoyed watching the 3-star come in as a freshman and sit on the bench his first two years and develop into an All-American like Russ Smith did at Louisville. However I agree that the student athletes should be allowed to transfer like they are currently doing. I think that is completely fair. So, I can dislike a rule but completely agree with it.

  13. That's a very liberal point of view. "Freedoms" are just getting too far out of hand, at the expense of morality and just plain "doing what's right." Again, laugh all you want, but keep the high school game pure of all this nonsense.

  14. People who oppose free transferability of high school kids are also likely to lament the way college sports have been affected by NIL and the transfer portal. That’s because they have dramatically affected something we loved, and made it radically different from what it was. Perhaps, though, it’s simply an inevitable outgrowth of the way society now looks at teenagers much differently than they did just a generation ago. They have individual rights, and are treated more like adults than children. So, why should they have to justify where they go to school, and why? Other students don’t have to do that. It’s a growing realization that high school athletics are a part of - not separate from - real life.

  21. Interesting running mate choice considering the current political climate and his history dealing with it. He sure is popular with the lefties though..... https://apnews.com/live/trump-harris-vp-pick-election-updates Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate, looking to strengthen the Democratic ticket in Midwestern states.

  23. Incredible race. I thought Lyles won watching live and the review was for 2nd and 3rd. Not sure though. I am also curious to know how many of them ran their personal best.

  24. Impressive win after losing to Alcaraz at Wimbledon a few weeks ago in what felt like a changing of the guard. I missed the match, but to have the 2 sets go to tie breakers sounds like it was quite a match to see.

  25. Most golfers tried downplaying this tournament compared to the Majors, but Scheffler said his goal was to have fun, and it showed. On a side note, American golfers won all the Majors and now the Gold Medal. A final round of 62 is pretty impressive.

  27. Snider needed a last second FG to get past Mishawaka. Why are you so sure they could have stopped Noblesville's 7 OL powered rushing attack let alone beat Fishers?

  29. Not speaking for @BTF, but I think you are oversimplifying his comment. I believe BTF is implying that taxes at a local level impact you at a much more personal level than federal taxes. I think most can agree that taxes are a waste of money, but I would rather pay more money to local taxes than federal taxes. Big, bloated government taxes/spending at a federal level hurt everyone. Also, I think this thread was made to discuss which schools currently have turf and which schools do not have turf. @btownqbcoach1 saw the future, when he posted "I am sure some will take this thread as an opportunity to try and discredit/get butthurt about turf... but... meh." Boy, was he right....Maybe you should start your own thread "TURF SUCKS, SOD RULES"
