  1. Far too big a drop for South Putnam in 1A. They lost to 2A #1 Lutheran. Opponents matter.

  2. The only thing I will say, I sure would not want to be Boonville this week.

  3. The same fans who complained about the soft schedule are now probably complaining because you have some guys dinged up. Regardless of what the fans think...scheduling that game was a very wise move for the Patriots that is going to pay dividends down the road.

  6. I am hopeful that the new head coach will get them going in the right direction. Maybe it is a pipe dream, but Penn has been a great football school for a long time.

  7. BNL (0-2, 0-0 HHC) at Jeffersonville (1-1, 1-0 HHC) Jeffersonville. They have improved a little bit. New Albany (1-1, 0-0 HHC) at Jennings County (0-2, 0-0 HHC) New Albany. Someone has to win this game. Seymour (1-1, 0-1 HHC) at Columbus East (0-2, 0-0 HHC) East. I like East at home. Floyd Central (0-1) at Silver Creek (2-0) Floyd Central. This will be close. Silver Creek has improved from last season. Floyd Central is well rested and should be fresh.

  8. TF20’s Power Rankings: 1. Memorial- Coming off 2 wins from pretty tough places to play at is no easy feat. Adding with a dynamic offense and stingy defense helps the Tigers at being the #1 in the SIAC. 2. Reitz- Reitz is not going anywhere guys, the Panthers are looking strong so far this season. Even without a few of their starters, their wildcat formation has looked amazing these last 2 weeks. Panthers get several players back this week including their starting QB. 3A. Mater Dei- The Wildcats have raised a ton of eyebrows after beating Castle last week. The Cats offense lit up in the 2H, with Mallory throwing over 300 yards in the game and tacking on 75 rushing yards. Memorial at Mater Dei is right around the corner. 3B. Castle- The Knights took a tough loss against Mater Dei after leading for a majority of the game. However, Castle is still a strong contender if their defense plays their A-game and their offense is beginning to show something now. 5. North- The Huskies kept close games against Memorial (up until the 4Q) and Castle thanks to their Defense. However, their offense is still trying to find their rhythm, as they couldn’t move the ball well last week. But, their defense is pretty good and will cause some trouble for teams. 6. Jasper- After taking a tough beating against Memorial, Jasper rebounded and won against Harrison. However, Jasper did struggle defensively to contain their QB and receivers. It’s Jasper, so I won’t be surprised if they finish in the Top 4. 7. Lincoln- The Alices looked pretty good against Bosse in Week 1, and had an opportunity to beat a depleted Reitz team. However, the Alices could not do much against the Panthers, although, the Alices are missing a couple of starters. 8. Harrison- Harrison has a pretty good offense judging by the eye test. Seems like their QB ripped apart Jasper’s passing defense, while the offense is averaging around 380 YPG. However, their defense hasn’t looked good so far. 9. Central- Central gets their first win in 3 years by beating Bosse. Still a long way for the Bears. 10. Bosse- Unfortunately for the Dawgs, they are in last place. Took a devastating last second loss against Central to get into the win column.

  14. Indeed. Saturday film was not a good experience, and practice yesterday morning was long and rough. Some non-seniors will likely get some opportunities to prove themselves due to others resting. Should be a good home opener as we put the previous Friday behind us.

  15. My first Oh My has to go to Pike Central for starting 2-0 for the first time since 2004. I know they have a tough schedule remaining for the rest of the year, but congrats to them for getting it done! My second has to go to North Knox's QB who threw for 299 yards last week. North Knox has been a running team ever since HC retired back in 2015. This year is their first year in a spread look and I like what I saw from this kid.

  16. To be fair. 1. There was no poll taken after the week zero game so their #10 ranking was just “leftover” from the preseason poll. They will not be ranked today. 2. Their stadium is under construction and all of those seats underneath the press box were off-limits.

  17. Prairie Heights is 2-0. They have certainly been one of the worst teams in the state the last 10 years. They will likely come back to Earth this Friday as they play Lakeland, but nice to see them at 2-0

  18. Avon: Beat defending state champion Ben Davis 29-28 in overtime. Terre Haute North: Ended a 14 game losing streak and beat Mooresville 36-32.

  19. Griffith’s two RUTS are against schools that beat them last year. And bigger schools at that. Defense has pitched two shutouts and offense has multiple weapons for a change. Running clocks the entire second half both games. Not saying they aren’t RUTS but for a program that has been kicked in the teeth a lot the last several years, the payback tour is underway and it’s going to be exciting to watch.

  20. Should of automatically been an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Home Team as well. If I recall correctly

  23. So I watched the 2nd half of the Snider/East Noble game this morning and I will say the Snider defense was dominant. Think EN maybe got 30 yards total in the 2nd half. Offense was pretty vanilla, but I think that will be Snider this year.

  24. The Umpire is required to have a gauge for measuring the pressure in the footballs. The ball is required to have a psi between 12.5 and 13.5. If a coach hands the ball to the U and it’s 12.5 psi, it’s legal. Maybe the coach’s gauge and the U’s gauge were in disagreement. But the U should not be adding or releasing air if the football is already in the legal range.

  28. Some of you may have known James, a B1G replay official who had a long and distinguished career officiating high school football in Indiana. A great friend and a mentor to many, many officials. He passed away unexpectedly yesterday just before the Michigan game he was supposed to work. Fair winds and following seas, James.
