  1. I would imagine a lot of coaches would be hesitant to apply for a place that the school board 's first move was to fire coaches. Doesn't sound like a positive work environment. It's a shame for the kids.

  2. Right away, you disqualify your own comment. Pat Echeverria was the DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR ON THAT STATE FINALIST TEAM ... and then coached his own team to the State Finals a couple years later. Zionsville was likely the second-best team in 5A this year and was the only team on New Pal's schedule (including Center Grove) where the game was in doubt in the fourth quarter. If you actually watch football, Zionsville is one of the better-coached, better-prepared teams around.

  3. http://reason.com/archives/2019/01/16/the-lessons-of-the-government-shutdown Rack this post. This government shutdown only goes to show how unessential a lot of the federal government is.

  6. HH’s SOS is hurt dramatically by the fact that far & away their best opponent to date was Madison Central, Ky. Sagarin cannot figure an out of state team into his rankings. It’s essentially as if the game wasn’t even played. Their SOS should rise quite a bit as the season goes on. The Patriots still have Southridge, Mater Dei, Jasper, Forest Park, Tell City & Princeton left.

  7. We are not even touching any of that nonsense: Dumb Dumb Dumb in my opinion. We get everything we need to accomplish in the summer 12 practice session and 5 competition days.

  8. I keep thinking about this. I am a coach that likes to apply for jobs. I get bored in the winter. I think last year I applied for 12, including Eastern Greene. This year I applied for Jasper and Zionsville, and I wish they would stop banging down my door. Anyway, I cannot imagine who would apply for this toxic situation unless you have no experience/no other options. I literally had 2 coaches call me yeaterday to make sure I stayed from it because they know my winter habit of applying for everything. It's a shame that this renegade board has came in with a clear purpose of cleaning house and obviously the superintendent has zero intentions of supporting his people and doing what is right. I really hope this board approves a health insurance plan that covers backbone removal.

  10. Not really sure of DT and/or TRC Junkie's agenda here. BUT, here are some facts. Coach Prescott's first 4 years back at Peru, the MIC was the conference. going into those seasons, Peru had a chance to be maybe win 4 games max. Figure a loss to Heights, Western, Cass, Northwestern (when John Hendryx was there). The talent level of those programs during that time was just so much better than Peru. Logan , historically over the last 30 years has been a loss. Get Taylor and Eastern on down years...wins. Mac? toss up although Mac had a few years of better athletes than Peru (Hicks). Moves to TRC in 2015. Much better football equivalent for Peru. finishes the next three years with a record of 20-12 with tournament and 18-9 without it. 1 championship, and a third place finish. (***Northfield having to forfeit helped the championship year to be fair***) The 3 year win total was the highest 3 year total for Peru in over 30 years. 9 games over 500 in TRC. So the statement that "well below average" is taken with a grain of salt. Peru has not had predominately strong football year in and year out since the the early 1980's. Why???? the question of the century. For whatever reason, Peru has a numbers issue. (generally less than 50 somewhere) This has been ongoing since the late 1980's WHOMEVER is the coach. Again...the question of the century. Might be a mute point as numbers are down across the USA in most programs. A discussion for another thread. However, what HN gets is a Head Coach that develops young men to be responsible citizens, to take responsibility for their actions, and develops life long, meaningful relationships with his players. On the football side...he creates a mentally tough football player, a player who learns to at least compete his butt off, a player that will also learn to hit the living snot out of you as all Bob Prescott teams do, and the overall concept of Brotherhood within the team. Good Luck Coach Prescott.

  11. We can all do this logically, but the IHSAA has already shown logic has nothing to do with it when they put Ben Davis and Warren together in this last cycle.

  12. I mean. If your team is built around running the ball and you don’t really have the personnel to pass all the time skipping 7 on 7s doesn’t hurt except for learning to defend the pass but take GIbson southern for example...they travel for 7 on 7s every year. Go down to the national select 7 on 7 and compete against top programs....Gibson southerns offense has been one of the top in the state year after year because of this. By the time the season starts, I would argue a lot of the routes and plays are already learned and only progress from there. The defense is also on board with coverages too. Lots to benefit from but you can make a case against I suppose. But many who use them to their advantage can make the case on why they are great

  13. I really think it depends on where you are personnel wise. If you have a young QB or young skill group, it can be huge as a stepping stone between practicing and 11 v 11. However, as a football fundamentalist, I don't care for it much. Coaches run things in 7 on 7 they will never run in the season in terms of formations, concepts and coverages. That drives me crazy and I don't find value in that.

  14. Ron Brown left Triton because Elwood came calling. They came with the intention of getting the guy they wanted and were not prepared to to take no for an answer. Good for him!

  15. I would expect 33 to be placed in 5A in advance of the Elkhart consolidation and them to be placed in a 5-team sectional. That would bring BNL up into the equation. This is what I came up with 9: LaPorte, Munster, Michigan City, SB Adams 10: Elkhart Central/Memorial, Concord, Goshen, Mishawaka, 11: Dwenger, North, Northrop, Snider 12: Anderson, Harrison, Kokomo, McCutcheon 13: Decatur Central, Plainfield, New Palestine, Whiteland 14: BNL, Bloomington N/S, Franklin 15: Castle, Ev. North, THN, THS 16: Floyd Central, Jeff, New Albany, Seymour

  16. I would be extremely surprised if Lafayette Jeff and Zionsville are paired together. That would mean Zionsville goes to the north of 6A. Which of these teams then would you put in the south because someone would have to go: Carmel, Westfield, Noblesville, Fishers, HSE. There isn't a CHANCE that the IHSAA puts Carmel in the south. And if Carmel isn't going south, it wouldn't make much sense for Westfield to go south. The IHSAA also won't split up Fishers and HSE (who, if in the north, I see being paired with the 2 Fort Wayne teams). That leaves Noblesville as the final team. So you're going to but Noblesville in the south? No way that is happening. Zionsville will 100% be placed in 6A South.

  18. Coach White resigned in December and NJSP promoted Alum, and recent staff member Brett Lambert to HC. Coach Lambert played at Judson, then did some coaching stints under Brad Urban at West Central, Greg Willis at NN, Chris Meeks at RCHS, then back to NJSP under Kirk Kennedy, took a few years off (growing family) and got back in last year. Has been Head Track coach their last 5 years or so as well. Young guy who should be in it for the long haul I would assume.

  19. Coach Prescott has utilized option scheme in years past and most recently some concepts in the Shotgun, Single Wing. Wishing the best to Coach Prescott, one of the good guys in the business.

  21. This means Bob will handle discipline within the building of a particular grade level or alphabetical level (A to E) of the student body. Will probably also handle attendance, supervision of lunch and or after school or even conferences such as special ed, etc. It is not an easy position. With Bob's background as an assistant principal, with an administrative license, he could handle teacher evaluations if called upon. This is not a created position but a position in addition to the principal and asst. principal. Many schools are adding this position due to the amount of extra work placed on the principal and asst. principal of the building. From what I understand Peru would not allow Bob to be head football coach and asst. principal. Their choice. Some schools will allow this. Knowing Bob this is a great move for Huntington as Bob is great with kids and discipline. Plus, he will good for the football program. Be careful how you phrase comments thinking it's just a way to hire another coach without knowing the facts. Your questions are good but your suggestions are ???????

  23. loved how Nagy today made it perfectly clear that he did not appreciate Parkey going on the TODAY show on Friday, just 5 days after he failed to do his job Watching over and over again, the TIpped ball is what made it the upright, if he wasn't tipped that bad boy was sailing wide left Agree Coach Handley: Lots to look forward to still: Pagano just doesn't need to screw it up: Fangio was SO good at adjusting on the fly . Big shoes to fill

  24. Obviously a homer here, but I will be interested to see what the Warsaw Tigers do in year 2 under Bart Curtis. They over exceeded my personal expectations last year, and in no way was that due to doubting the Tiger coaching staff. Implementing a completely new offensive philosophy and getting the players and community to "buy in" to it was going to be a hurdle in my opinion. However, they were only a few points away from going 10-0 in the regular season last year and even led Penn at halftime of their 1st round sectional game. A revamped out of conference schedule (replacing 4A schools Columbia City and East Noble with 5A foes Huntington North and Michigan City) and higher expectations following the "success" of 2018... I am very excited and interested to see how Warsaw does in 2019!

  25. Just when I thought I validated an IMPOSTER, you have eased my concerns: 😀 yes, the OOB will be built. Its still on the list of items for @DK_Barons to build, which he has done a tremendous job. Again want to say thanks to @77Jimmie for providing the in house server for our community. Our last one I believe was housed by 3rd party in San Diego!! as the late great Jim Nabors once sang so gracefully: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX43V
