  1. Why does everyone get stuck on win-loss records? Don't you have to consider WHERE these guys put that record together at? Some places getting your squad above .500 might be much more impressive than winning a sectional somewhere else. Still everyone loves to post about win-loss records and why these coaches aren't great hires for this or that job.

  2. Right away, you disqualify your own comment. Pat Echeverria was the DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR ON THAT STATE FINALIST TEAM ... and then coached his own team to the State Finals a couple years later. Zionsville was likely the second-best team in 5A this year and was the only team on New Pal's schedule (including Center Grove) where the game was in doubt in the fourth quarter. If you actually watch football, Zionsville is one of the better-coached, better-prepared teams around.

  3. Still here. I'll even go out on a limb and make bold prediction for the 2019 conference standings: 1. Columbus East 2-8 Everyone else.

  6. I took a shot at 2A based on one of the iterations posted here: REGION: Whiting, Andrean, Boone Grove, Bowman Academy, Wheeler, Rensselaer Central, North Newton, Delphi NORTH CENTRAL: Bremen, LaVille, Rochester, Pioneer, Lewis Cass, Manchester, Wabash, Fairfield FORT WAYNE: Prairie Heights, Central Noble, Eastside, FW Luers, Woodlan, Whitko, Eastbrook, Bluffton MUNCIE-ISH: Eastern, Blackford, Lapel, Alexandria, Elwood, Tipton, Frankton, Winchester EAST CENTRAL: Centerville, Northeastern, Union County, Shenandoah, Triton Central, Eastern Hancock, Scecina, Heritage Christian WEST CENTRAL: South Vermillion, Speedway, Western Boone, Southmont, Cascade, North Putnam, Howe, Seeger SOUTHWEST: Evansville Mater Dei, North Posey, Paoli, Crawford County, South Spencer, North Knox, Linton-Stockton, Forest Park SOUTHEAST: Monrovia, Mitchell, Eastern Pekin, Clarksville, Tell City, Switzerland County, Providance, Milan Sorry for using geographic labels rather than the numbers. Please nobody jump my case if there is some stupid error here. I was bored and started trying to piece things together and a ton can change if even 1 or 2 teams shift classes. With these 64, the most compelling decisions seemed to be which team gets pulled into the Region sectional from outside of that area (I chose Delphi over Bremen/LaVille) and which central team gets pulled to go south for sectionals (I chose Monrovia over Trition Central). If you were to choose differently for either of those, you could draw a very different looking map.

  7. Perfect timing for a distraction from the Right Wing. She's their new poster child. She's a rookie Congresswoman. I wonder why Trump Groupies are so scared of her?

  9. I wish I had Muda's old "cats playing ping-pong" gif - it would apply here...... https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-denies-pelosi-aircraft-for-foreign-trip-in-response-to-call-for-state-of-the-union-delay President Trump on Thursday abruptly denied military aircraft to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for a foreign trip just minutes before the congressional delegation was set to depart, in a stunning response to her call to delay the State of the Union address amid the government shutdown. In a curt letter, Trump said her trip has been “postponed.” “Due to the Shutdown, I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan has been postponed. We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the Shutdown is over. In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate,” Trump wrote. CLICK HERE TO READ TRUMP'S LETTER TO PELOSI “I also feel that, during this period, it would be better if you were in Washington negotiating with me and joining the Strong Border Security movement to end the Shutdown. Obviously, if you would like to make your journey by flying commercial, that would certainly be your prerogative.” According to sources, the president pulled the plug on her aircraft as she was about to leave for her overseas trip. Her congressional delegation military aircraft was slated to leave at 3 p.m. ET. A senior White House official also told Fox News that all congressional delegation travel by military aircraft is now postponed. A source told Fox News that when moving to cancel Thursday's flight, the White House reasoned that the trip would keep Pelosi out of the country beyond next Tuesday night—when the next government pay period would occur. "If she had gone on this trip she would have guaranteed that 800,000 federal workers would not receive their second paycheck because she would not have been here to negotiate any kind of deal," a senior White House official said Thursday.

  10. The list I put out was with teams the teams listed on John Harrell site. There are a few teams who may end up declaring to play in the tournament which would change a lot. Everything right now is just projections.

  18. Yea....I'm out on the no shave thing. Next thing you'll know you'll be wearing skinny jeans and getting your hair cut high and tight Muda. I've used Dollar Shave Club for close to 10 years. They're an awesome company to do business with. Their Dr. Carver's Shave Butter is the best shaving creme I've ever used, I like their after shave balm as well. Their product is competitively priced, and shows up in my mailbox once a month. Bottom line, I figured out a LONG time ago, Gillette was too damn expensive......plus I HATE the Patriots.

  21. There will be 34 teams in 5A as long as Hammond Noll and Wood Memorial express their intention to play. I don’t think Trinity Lutheran is going to play, but if they did, then Greenfield-Central would move up to 5A giving that class 35 teams. 9 S.B. Adams LaPorte Michigan City Munster 10 Goshen Concord Elkhart Central Elkhart Memorial Mishawaka 11 F.W. Northrop F.W. Snider F.W. North F.W. Bishop Dwenger 12 Harrison (W.L.) 22. I would expect 33 to be placed in 5A in advance of the Elkhart consolidation and them to be placed in a 5-team sectional. That would bring BNL up into the equation. This is what I came up with 9: LaPorte, Munster, Michigan City, SB Adams 10: Elkhart Central/Memorial, Concord, Goshen, Mishawaka, 11: Dwenger, North, Northrop, Snider 12: Anderson, Harrison, Kokomo, McCutcheon 13: Decatur Central, Plainfield, New Palestine, Whiteland 14: BNL, Bloomington N/S, Franklin 15: Castle, Ev. North, THN, THS 16: Floyd Central, Jeff, New Albany, Seymour

  23. The North can go a bunch of different ways. One idea 1: Crown Point, Lake Central, Merrillville, Lafayette Jeff 2: Chesterton, Penn, Portage, Valpo 3: Warsaw, Carroll, Homestead, Noblesville 4: Carmel, Westfield, Zionsville, North Central 5: HSE, FIshers, LC, LN 6: Pike, Ben Davis, Avon, Brownsburg 7: Warren Central, Tech, Southport, Perry Meridian 8: Center Grove, Columbus East/North, Franklin Central The north might go a few different ways depending on what the IHSAA does with Lafayette Jeff. Someone is going to have to go north. Another 1: Crown Point, Lake Central, Merrillville, Portage 2: Chesterton, Penn, Valpo, Warsaw 3: Homestead, Carroll, Noblesville, Westfield OR Lafayette Jeff 4: Carmel, Zionsville, North Central, Westfield OR Lafayette Jeff South stays the same. Pike/BD/Avon/Brownsburg and the Sectional 8 (FC/CN/CE/CG) are pretty much locked in. HSE/Fishers and LC/LN won't be split up so it makes sense to put them in the same sectional. And WC/Tech and the Perry Township schools make much sense. I expect if any Indy-area school goes north, it will be North Central.

  24. Anybody who knows anything about football knows Coach Ech can flat-out coach. He's a Pike graduate and former DC for a state runner-up team at Pike and knows the school and the community. He took Eastern Hancock to the State Finals and then had a lot of success at Zionsville despite being the smallest school in one of the top conferences in the state. He does a tremendous job developing players and his teams are very difficult to play against. Had an incredibly good New Pal not beaten them in the sectional this year (which was a one-score game on multiple occasions in the second half), I'm pretty convinced Zionsville would've been playing in Lucas Oil this year. As a Pike alum, I'm excited to see Coach Echeverria at the helm. Probably Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney. Anything else is settling.

  33. https://apnews.com/d90578a1687049e9a67db01582ce4278 Kevin Hassett, chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, said Tuesday the shutdown is slowing growth more than predicted. An economic shift could rattle Trump, who has tied his political fortunes to the stock market and repeatedly stressed economic gains as evidence that his tax-cut package and deregulation efforts are succeeding. Economic optimism had already cooled somewhat as Trump’s trade fight with China shook the markets. Hassett told reporters the White House is doubling its estimate of the strain on the economy of the shutdown, and now calculates that it is slowing growth by about 0.1 percentage points a week. With the shutdown in its fourth week, that suggests the economy has lost nearly a half-percentage point of growth so far, though some of that occurred at the end of last year and some in the first quarter of this year. Hassett said the economy should get a boost when the government re-opens. SF wonders - how does the shutdown slow growth in an economy like the US? Except for the 800,000 employees, who will receive back pay after the shutdown, how does the growth of a capitalist based economy slow down because of a shutdown?
