  2. Yes how dare they look at actual stats that show influenza is much more dangerous to kids then Covid 19. We need more people making decisions listening to CNN experts and Indy Star columnists instead.

  3. Elkhart Central consolidated with Elkhart Memorial. They are now Elkhart High School. But they have Elkhart Central’s coach (former Seymour coach Josh Shattuck) and I believe they’re using the old Elkhart Central building and facilities for the school.

  5. Just a 2 week stoppage like @TheStatGuy said. They should be good to go for week 2 barring anyone else tests positive.

  6. The rule for as long as we have had scrimmages has been they are allowed the Friday before the first contest date. So I guess that changed about 20 years ago. I have no information on what you may or may not have heard about pads on players at any time.

  10. What exactly is your point in posting this? I feel like my teenager just said ‘Well, look at what my friends are doing. Why can’t I?’ I tell him. ‘Be a man and think for yourself.’ I don’t know you personally, so I won’t tell you that, but it’s not bad advice. I could care less what Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, or any other state is doing. July 17th: Vanderburgh County had a 51 new cases per day average. As of today that had dropped to 34. (33% decrease) July 18th: ISDH District 10 (which is SW Indiana, including @jets Dubious County.) There were 104 new cases per day average. Today that is 65. (38% decrease) These numbers are not what they need to be, but they are clearly trending in the right direction. I’m sorry if that offends you or maybe it’s just that we are playing football. We are doing just fine in Southern Indiana without your input. (And look at map @TheStatGuy. Seriously- Farmersburg is ‘southern’?? GMAB)

  12. While we’re at it, I have a problem with the name “Steelers,” and the heritage for which it stands. It is well documented that, in its early days, the steel industry in this country shamefully exploited the working class, often comprised of racial and ethnic minorities. From deplorable working conditions enforced by strike-breaking thugs, to establishment of company towns, where the employer controlled virtually every aspect of the workers’ lives, the Carnegies and the US Steels were as oppressive to their work force as any plantation slave owner. Why do we glorify them in Pittsburgh? Shameful!

  13. I just got off the phone with the home AD for our scrimmage tonight. He said everyday we move forward the more confident he is we will play. And the were shut down for two weeks in July with a positive test.

  14. At this point if teams can get 5 games in I will so excited about that. I think we are at a place where they want to play, but it will be schools choices more so than the Ihsaa at this point.

  15. Thanks for your input. You're right, I thought this was Hammond Central's first year, but after rereading the article, that's slated for fall of 2021. I'll fix on my website. Also, I didn't post this in that thread as it's not a discussion of why games are getting canceled, just simply a list of canceled games and newly scheduled games. However, I'll defer to the moderators. If they feel they need to move it to there, it won't hurt my feelings. Thanks, Dan "Rudy" Engler Thanks. Time will tell lol

  16. Agreed. I'm all for masks/sanitizing/distancing, and also quarantining the ill and isolating older/high risk/pre-existing conditions people. But this lock down thing has to end eventually. Besides a vaccine, which may or may not be effective across the board initially, herd immunity is mother nature's answer to this. It needs to run it's course. Either that or we keep everything locked down indefinitely and the end result of that could be worse than COVID-19 itself. Communities, parents, players need something to offset all this gloom & doom. That thing is H.S. football - IMHO.

  17. Yes, lets continue to cancel every damn thing in life. Its fine to play a week later against another team. But not a week earlier in a scrimmage. The incredible weakness of this country is staggering right now.

  20. Perhaps America should shut down everything until the new vaccines of which all American pharmaceutical manufacturers will be exempt from any legal liability cure the coronavirus. The coronavirus is just too dangerous. Everyone should shelter in place while wearing their surgical masks. Shut down all food processing and restaurants, gas stations, banks, all utilities, all manufacturing and service industries. Urban dwellers will not even be able to flush their toilet without water.
