I was being nice to Ryan Day. There might be 25 coaches that are better. Key word is "might." I don't want to completely discredit this guy.
I originally thought it was a matter of time before Kelly won the whole thing at LSU. But in order to do that, you have to be authentic in my opinion. If you're not, those around you will see right through it and you'll lose respect quickly. His time at LSU has been anything BUT authentic. That will be his downfall.
What I love most about the drama surrounding Kelly leaving the Irish is that the attention Notre Dame and Freeman are getting on a national scale absolutely DWARFS the attention Kelly is getting at LSU.
Until Ryan Day can do this.....he will never be a top 10 coach......
Wonder why Kelly never broke this out during his ND days....who knew of this talent?
Mishawaka jamboree used to have Penn, Warsaw, SB St Joe, Marian, Elkhart Memorial, and Mishawaka. I always loved going to the jamboree.
How about a controlled scrimmage jamboree?!?
So they are 1A and will move up do to the SF? so instead of going to 2A they are leap frogging to 3A? Interesting begs the question of what a person put in the tweet reply that they attempting to avoid a particular 2A potential sectional opponent? So they see an easy path in Southern 3A rather than 2A?
Makes sense if I were a powerhouse 1A Football team that was moving up to 2A in the northern half of the state I might want to play in a 3A north (If Chatard gets sent South) rather than the 2A North and run into (Luers, Andrean, Eastbrook, and Eastside) .
interesting twist
My point is simply that a wide receiver who runs a 4.65 40 is unlikely to make it in the NFL, if that’s really an accurate gauge of his foot speed. There are exceptions, but they are … exceptional. What did he run at his pro day?
Another reason a kid shouldn’t be punished by Andy Owen and the ihsaa for transferring. This opportunity never happens if Duff stays at his previous school.
The schools mentioned in the article are the correct targets, IMO. The small private or charter schools and rural schools with a declining enrollment.
I would like to see places like Wood Memorial (Oakland City) and Oldenburg Academy join the ranks. Perhaps even someone like Dugger Union. Schools that have a history of football but can't see to field a full 11 man squad on an annual basis.
And whatever happened to all the "Lighthouse" schools? I think there 2 or 3 of them around the state a few years ago but can't seem to find anything about them.

Meh, I wish them luck but am skeptical that this will take off. Call me when the like of Rossville fields a team or Clinton Central, with an slowly eroding 9-12 enrollment, decides to switch to 8-man football.
