  1. I'm not a coach. I never have been and never will be. But here is my perspective from the outside looking in. If you're willing to chest bump after a sack or a touchdown, you should probably be willing to do the same after getting an A on a test. An education, whether college or self, will take 99.9% of all high school athletes further than their 40 time. Life success is long term, whereas football success is not. Being the star and captain of your football team is a fantastic accomplishment, but being a successful CEO of your own life is an even better one. Chest bump all you want, show swagger, and have fun. But do the same in the classroom (players) and with your family (coaches) or it's all for naught.

  2. I feel that we are more than satisfied with the type of people that are coaching our kids. There is a nice blend of youth and experience on the staff. Sometimes I think we can all be guilty of having perceptions of people or certain schools. I Try hard not to do that. Not sure about the stuff said on the radio show. I'm pretty sure the people here understand that there is a gap between Gibson Southern and MV. That is not difficult to understand. The most frustrating thing about our athletic programs across the board at MV is numbers. We might have a really good class, followed by one that is not good, or has low numbers. We have more gaps than a place like GS or HH. Demographics probably play a big factor in that. Is what it is.

  5. As the data and inner workings of the bureaucracy come to light, it’s becoming more and more clear, we were being lied to and what’s even worse, anyone who questioned the lies were silenced.

  6. Shamrock Series hits Vegas. This is really funny to watch...it reveals the uniforms they are wearing.

  7. He was a starter on defense and had a good year. Good defensive player for sure. Not sure I can judge his RB abilities because I never saw him play it. To expect him to be a DAC powerback right now I think is a little much though.

  8. The Stephens kid played OLB and weighs 185lbs... I wouldn't call him a powerback

  9. Not likely. Still waiting to hear who the other 2 current D1 commits are other than Marshal. It's all hyperbole with this guy. New year, same story line...

  10. re·ces·sion /rəˈseSH(ə)n/ noun 1. a period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced, generally identified by a fall in GDP in two successive quarters. "the country is in the depths of a recession" https://apnews.com/article/inflation-biden-covid-health-521d7bf2d04f79744c39a1506b6da763 Facing a potentially grim report this week on the economy’s overall health, President Joe Biden wants to convince a skeptical public that the U.S. is not, in fact, heading into a recession. The Commerce Department on Thursday will release new gross domestic product figures. Top forecasts such as the Atlanta Federal Reserve’s GDPNow are predicting that the figure will be negative for the second straight quarter — an informal signal that the country is stuck in a downturn. The White House is disputing that benchmark, but it will likely otherwise prove political chum for Republicans in an election year. “Two negative quarters of GDP growth is not the technical definition of recession,” National Economic adviser Brian Deese insisted during Tuesday’s White House press briefing. He added that “the most important question economically is, whether working people, and middle class families, have more breathing room.” IDK - What do you think?

  11. Felt that squeeze this summer for wrestling. Had very little participation from the high schoolers so they “wouldn’t be sore” for a 7 on 7 they would have in 3 days. As a fan, it gives me something to follow waiting for football to start up. But some of these kids are getting caught up and cocky scoring a few times with no tackling or no lines and shirking any other summer activity for football.

  12. Excellent points. When I was in HS, we would get together June/July on Saturday's and play barnyard football (touch, not tackle). Let the linemen go out for passes now & then, change things up a bit. It was fun and we got used to playing in the heat. A fair amount of our players lived on farms and didn't have the time to go to camps/OTA's throughout the summer, but they could talk dad into letting them go for a few hours once a week, to maintain some fitness for 2-a-days. Lots of us also had jobs, and it's easier to schedule one day off than multiple. If I wanted to have/maintain a vehicle, I had to provide the funds myself - for the most part, and so did most of the kids in my class. But it was the 80's and we weren't a super strong football program back then, so there's that. I agree it's beginning to get out of control.

  13. Give me Chatard over Tri-West in the finals. This class would be a lot more interesting if the Trojans were still in 4A...

  14. Come on now guys - it's really NOT THAT HARD. We do it in wrestling every year. You don't need sagarin or CalPreps or any other computer system. No anonymous voting. You get the head coaches in a room with a tournament director. You have a list of criteria (Head to head, common opponents, etc..) and you hash it out. It FINALLY gives some credence to a good regular season. Everyone wins in this scenario.

  16. So many people missing the point: speculating about what effect this or that seeding will have on the tournament. The chief benefit of seeding is that it gives more meaning to regular season games. The teams are actually playing for a tangible benefit, which makes the regular season better. That’s why you should not only seed the tournament, but seed all the teams in the sectional, not just the top two.

  17. The 2020 North Side team was decimated with injuries throughout the remainder of the season from what I recall. Being a neighboring district, North Side and Snider were once fierce rivals. To this day, the Legends always come out swinging when they play the Panthers. And with the information that we are gathering about North Side during this off season, Week 1 could turn into a war with huge SAC title implications.

  18. What comparison was made? If you say X had an effect on something happening and someone offers Y also had effect of that same thing, nothing about those statements imply X and Y are related at all nor do they make any type of comparison between X and Y besides the stated contribution to some outcome.

  19. Of the players on that list, there’s about 3, maybe 4 that I would say are going to be difference makers at the next level. None of those kids are going to Purdue. Indiana just had its best recruiting class in program history coming off a 2-10 season. I’ll take a 3* kid out of South Florida who plays legit competition 9-10 games a year over a 3* from North Central (for the sake of being from Indianapolis) any day of the week. Purdue’s top 5 verbals are all either from the South or the Louisville area where Brohm has deep connections. Allen has a connection to South Florida, especially in and around Tampa, where he has coaching roots. Some of IU’s best players the last few years have all been from Tampa…Penix, Whop Phylior, McFadden, Mullen etc
