I get there’s only been 1 week but Whiteland receiving a first place vote, and even being 2nd in 5a is a crime following a 14 point home win over a program who was 0-10 last year.

In addition, Concord, Lafayette Jeff, and even Kokomo are more deserving of a spot than Plainfield

They are definitely on the up and up and the best team in the northern portion of the state. They aren't the 2nd best team in 6A though, not even close.

They are the best team in the northern portion of the state based off of what, last season's performance ?Last season has no bearing on this season . Just ask Ben Davis .

Good point. I just know they aren't the second best team in 6A.

After 1 week , I would give the nod to Fort Wayne Snider as being the best 6A Northern team . We will know a lot more about CP when they play Valpo .

I'm not sure I'd go that far. Based on what exactly?

Crown Point, lol.

Yeah, as a former Duneland player I'm pullling for Crown Point and The Ville. But, Crown Point at #2 with 6 first place votes and The Ville at #1 with 14 first place votes is eye rolling to me.

I think your rankings of Crown Point have been very fair. Merrillville is very likely a top 5 5A team. But, an overwhelming favorite at #1? That hasn't been earned.

Are you referring to true Northern or are you lumping the Hamilton County schools in with that distinction? Snider's defense is great. I get that WC's defensive front resembles a college size line; however, Snider's O still didn't look very good on Friday night.

I would place Westfield or HSE above FW Snider or Crown Point in 6A North right now.

I haven't seen Heritage Hills or Gibson Southern play. Are they considered to be at Memorials level by those in the SW part of the state? I thought Evansville Memorial's offense looked very good on Friday night.

Without question for Heritage Hills with all that it returns on both sides of the ball.  GS has things to prove on offense still after losing 90% of its production to graduation.

I can only speak for myself, but as the defending 3A representative from the South, I would give Heritage Hills the nod as the team to beat. As Titan32 says, they have a lot returning. They beat Southridge (always a tough opponent) in a similar fashion as we beat Jasper. Because none of the SIAC schools play any non-conference opponents, all we can do is wait until October & November to see how things shake out. A lot can happen over the next 8 weeks...

Make no mistake...the GS defense is the real deal.  We will have to watch the offense for a couple of weeks and see.

I said Northern teams , as in Northern Indiana .  Westfield and HSE are Indy area schools .

Nah, not quite.  They have risen to a mid-level MIC/HCC team which is respectable but have a ways to go before they are mentioned in the same breath as BD and CG.

If your referring to last year , I would say CP was above mid level HCC , as they took out the second best team in that conference . If your talking this year , not enough football has been played to accurately determine where they would be .

Nah, they caught Westfield on the right night.  They are a top half HCC team, which is going to be perceived as disrespect but is a compliment in and of itself.

Our offense has some things to work on.  The defense on the other hand appears to be very, very good.  The 14 that SR scored Friday was not on our varsity D.  One score was due to a disaster (fumble) in the end zone and the other was in the 4th quarter with much of SRs varsity against our JV defense.  Of their 120ish yards of offense, I believe more than half of that came in the 4th quarter.

The offense is concerning and at this moment (it's early, I know) is NOT a November worthy offense.   Friday night we will likely face the most athletic DBs we will see all season, it could be interesting if we pass much....last week we were about 50/50, pass/run.

As of now for S32, it is probably:

1. Heritage Hills

2. Memorial

3. Gibson Southern

Will be intrigued on these teams progress through the regular season. I believe Heritage Hills is heading over to Louisville to face a defending State Champ and Memorial is headed over to face a big North team this Friday.

On the right night ? Dude stop . It's far too early in the season for you to start spewing your BS .
