Side note 2, on the television screen I'm watching I just saw a kid with a sign reading 'hey Carson Steele ask me about my alligator' and now my entire life goal has shifted to learning about this alligator can someone please fill me in if it is a known thing

The Unsportsmanlike penalty near the end of the game.  Came after 1st down.  Chain gang seemed confused and scoreboard had it 1st and 25.  Chains ultimately moved back to 1st and 10.  Was that correct?

Yes ALL new series start as 1st and 10.

As long as the UNS foul occurred before the ball was marked ready for the next play, the line to gain is not established until all enforcements are completed (on downs 1-3).

I'm sure it's been discussed. But not having the finals broadcasted on television isn't good for high school football. I truly miss turning on local television the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving and watching some championship football in the background while you indulge on some holiday traditions. I know a lot of people looked forward to it; just something about it. What I'm not going to do is sit down and watch it on computer when I really don't have any interest in who wins or loses, and if my team is making it to Indy you can bet your bottom dollar my butt is in Lucas Oil and not my couch. Just seems like it will hurt the sport long term not showcasing it for the casual observer

New Pal goes 3 & out. On 1st down East Noble hits the bomb for an 80 yd. TD. 7-0 East Noble 10:15 of the 1st. Roughing the passer on the TD will be enforced on the succeeding kickoff.

I think that should have been an incomplete pass they ruled as a fumble around the 10 on the NewPal drive. Saw it live and on the replay board

Carson Steele has a pet Alligator that he has had since he was a little kid. It's name? Crocky J. During weekday MACtion coverage when he was at Ball State, the color commentators had a field day discussing him, that's the only reason I knew about it. Long live weekday MACtion.

I know it's all part of the game, but kudos to the referee on that 80 yd TD pass early in the game.  Because he called Roughing the passer, he had to run back to the 20 to pick up his flag and then back to the other end for the conversion.

In my view, speaking as one who worked the referee position for over 30 years, it was grossly negligent that one of the other crew members didn’t retrieve that flag for him while he was signaling and enforcing the penalty. I’m not kidding here. If that had been my crew, someone would have been reamed.
