  2. Yeah, what's even richer is that three of the five kids of this "LCC poster" have graduated or are about to graduate from Jeff, one is Harrison, and the fifth will be Harrison ... but let's not let the facts get in the way in our perception of ideas, right?

  3. ND can't get Michigan and Purdue routinely on the schedule anymore, but can include Ohio State, Marshall, UNLV and Cal?? I guess I just miss the old days. Also used to love ND playing Penn State and Pitt routinely. Got the classic photo hanging in my basement of ND vs Penn State, snow coming down, with Rick Mirer and Reggie Brooks. Not knocking the strength...just miss the old rivalries.....

  4. Pace should be fired not because of the draft issues, all GMs have the good ones and bad ones He should be fired for: Signing Tarek Cohen to stupid extension Signing Eddie Jackson to stupid extension after 2nd year of Rookie deal Trading for Nick Foles... ok, so be it, but then Signing another nick Foles in Andy Dalton and keeping Foles on the books For SOMEHOW paying Jimmy Graham like 8 or 10 Million ..... when Jesse James would of been just fine... but ya know Jimmy caught last TD of 2020 season against the Lions.... so..... let's not cut him.... 2nd year in a row, Bears ornaments did not go up on the tree. Somehow, I made money on my tickets again this year.... oh my...not sure how

  5. Man, cannot believe all your Domers missed this one: Players Coach Marcus Freeman (have always been big fan, really seemed impressive the times I saw him work at Purdue) https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/marcus-freeman-notre-dame-college-football

  7. I realize that to most high school football fans the season ended after the Center Grove - Westfield game. However, for this guy it is just a start to the "best time of the year". Starting with Wednesday nights Alabaster (AL) Thompson - Phenix City (AL) Central game, I must have watched all of or portions of twenty plus high school games on NFHS. For those of you who don't want to watch Army-Navy next weekend, I suggest you fork down $10 for a subscription and watch all the high school football you want. Once the season is over, it is easy to cancel your subscription. A few thoughts as I wind down the weekend: - Some states, Arizona being the most prominent, have created an "Open" Division playoff system. What I mean is that they take the best eight teams in that state and those teams are in a separate playoff while all others play in the tournament based on enrollment. For years Arizona would have several teams in different classes claiming to be the best in the state, now they actually settle it on the field. Rhode Island, which has four teams in its "Open Division", takes it a step further by allowing the losing teams in the first round to drop into the Division I tournament. May sound crazy but they do not have any arguments who the best team is at the end of the season. - Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei is two touchdowns better than anyone in the country. They play this coming weekend in the Open Championship against a very good San Mateo Serra team, but it should be a formality for the team that has beaten Anaheim Servite (twice), St. John Bosco and Corona Centennial. And if you thought Byrce Young was good for Alabama yesterday, wait until you see sophomore starting quarterback they have this year. - Congrats to Bobref, as his Eagles won the Division 1 tournament in Ohio. They beat some very good teams along the way in one of the nations' toughest tournament brackets. - For some reason, Texas teams just appear to be bigger and faster than teams in other states. Caught a few minutes of the Duncanville-DeSoto game last night and was really impressed with Duncanville' size and speed. By the way, Mater Dei beat them 45-3 earlier in the season in Texas. - Finally, how do I think Center Grove would fare against these teams. I think their defense could hold their own, but don't know if their offense is powerful enough to win a shootout against teams like Collins Hill (GA), Austin (TX) Westlake and others that are ranked in the Top 20 in the country. It would have been great to see them against a Lakewood St. Edwards team, but it never came to fruition, so we will never know.

  9. Also, what does the high school I attended over 15 years ago have anything to do with the topic at hand or DT's ability to spin and spew numbers and narratives out of his ass to further an agenda he's been on for over a decade? There's reason why he's quit, re-joined, quit, started his own site, rinse repeat for the last 15 years? He knows he's full of it as does everybody else and can't stand and has to take ball and run. It gets old.

  11. What a rant lol. I'm genuinely asking who Notre Dame beat this year? Not sure what that has to do with Oklahoma State or Iowa State three years ago or whoever else you decided to throw in there. Notre Dame beat probably the worst Wisconsin team the Badgers have put on the field in a decade and struggled to beat an ok Purdue team, a team Ohio State hung nearly half a hundred on.....in the first half. But to answer the linger question, yes I do think Ohio State would beat Notre Dame convincingly this year, with or without Kyle Hamilton.

  13. That didn't answer a single question I asked though? How many times a year does a team with 70 varsity players with a few D1 athletes play a team full of 20 skinny kids and a 2 man coaching staff?

  14. Before I run out and tell a bunch of faceless teams that they can't play this year because of an arbitrary number that someone came up with, I'd like to look at the data. I'd like to see is it tied to numbers or something else? Look, we've already endured a thread about how it's not safe or competitive for the bottom half of 6A to play against Ben Davis and Carmel, yet the defining difference between 5A and 6A in your proposal is a mere 5 players. Forgive me if I see waning internal validity in the argument and would like to see something else. If it really is such a big thing, there should be all kinds of examples that we can point to to at least start looking at the problem. You tossed out WL as an example, yet there's no one that I've seen WL play in the past decade or so, or longer, that I can think of that even comes close to your example and they play in a conference with 1A and 2A schools. Likewise, I threw out a very recent example based on a game that I watched in person where a team with 19 players actually led the eventual state champs, with a roster of nearly 45 players no less, by a point at halftime in a sectional final. If you don't have the numbers or just want to play in generalities, then by all means, feel free to do so; but don't get mad at the rest of us who might be willing to listen to your plan or give it consideration and ask for something to help us along in that evaluation. I'm not the one making the initial premise.

  15. Common sense tells you that Foxbat just provided a real life example of a team fielding 19 players who more than held their own. Feel free to share an example of a team fielding low numbers that has directly lead to a “catastrophic” injury. Thanks

  16. Was quite a run for CG. Congrats on a great program. Couple awesome stats I learned from the Cathedral award banquet last night: 1. These Irish seniors played 16 teams that played in a state finals game between OH, IN, and KY. Their record was 12-4 with 2 losses to the Trojans. 2. Cathedral seniors have 29 academic All-state players. As for next year, we have another 42 rising juniors with the J/V squad losing to only Cincy St. X in a tight one. Obviously, we have four highly touted returners in Kendrick Gilbert (DL), Jaron Tibbs (WR1), Brennan Wooten (TE) and Danny O'Neill (QB - 37 TDs, 2 INT this season). Our defense will take a hit for sure, but our offense should be equal to this year's squad. Biggest loss will be Mr. Football kicker, Ben Gomez. He was one of our underappreciated absolute hammers all season long.

  18. I think it's a bit unfair to only have one OL and one DL. It is five positions... I'm not a fan of giving everyone a medal, but I think we all know the qualities to for interior OL (C/Gs) are different than OTs, as are interior DL (NG/DT) vs. DE. Now, I can see the same argument for DBs, but in HS the best DB in the state can probably play both CBs and FS (perhaps not SS or "Rover" -- SS/OLB hybrid -- whatever your system calls it. More love for the hogs! ETA: I am a little surprised to see the DB, Pasch, is from a 1A school. I have never seen him play and with open enrollment kids in cities can choose to be the big fish in a small pond! How good was he? Would he have been able to cover 5A/6A receivers. (It seems he is reportedly going to Wabash?)

  19. BOYS VARSITY FOOTBALL · DEC 7Thank You For A Great Football Season, Michigan City!! An Open Letter to Michigan City THANK YOU!!! The love and support for our football team has been incredible! While we came up short in our semi-state playoff game, we must take a moment to thank the amazing people of Michigan City who have made this experience so special. We have now made the IHSAA Semi-state game three times in five years! We truly love the young people we work with, and we have dedicated our lives to helping them, but we could not do it without you! It was an awesome experience to see the whole town rally behind these young men and give them the support they needed. We cannot say enough about how the town and its’ people turned out to get behind our effort. We take pride in representing Michigan City, but we could not accomplish all we have accomplished without you behind us. There are so many people to thank, and we hope we don’t leave anybody out. Gratitude and thanks go to Dr. Barbara Eason-Watkins, Dr. Wendel McCollum, Kyle Dean, and Sarah Hendricks. We must thank our football parents-Jenny Heath, Bill Buskirk, and crew, who worked as hard this season as anybody else! Thanks to our Booster Club, the Michigan City Police Department-including Chief Campbell, Officer Corley, and Officer Combs, the Michigan City Fire Department, and our teachers and staff at MCHS. Special thanks to Beth Penfold and Abby Vittatoe and our awesome Cheer Squad who were with us for the whole journey. Our Athletic Training staff-thank you! The incredible fans who made the drives to South Bend and Mishawaka to support us-thank you! Our students who showed up in record numbers throughout the season and playoffs-thank you!! There is a very long list of businesses in town that showed support with marquee displays, signs in windows, or print ads. We think this list shows just how deep the community pride and spirit of Michigan City runs. 20. I remember the Army Corps of Engineer representatives that came and spoke to our elementary school prior to its construction to provide reassurance…..since our elementary school would come to sit literally at the foot of the dam. I was the smartass kid that recalled some comments I had heard from a neighbor and asked, “Wasn’t there a dam like this one in Italy that collapsed?” The representative admitted that this had happened but went down a list of reasons why this dam was safe. I will also admit to enjoying the Overlook there on occasion about a decade later.

  22. Drayk Bowen, a Junior, just won Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year. Have no qualms with it either. He wasn’t eligible for Mr. Football. I think if you really want Mr. Football to be associated with any kind of best player award, it needs to be open to all classes.

  23. It’s just frustrating for me to watch football these days and see either PI, or some guy screaming for it, on virtually every downfield pass play. I mean, now it’s become a routine part of the process of watching the game. You see it’s a pass, you track the ball, it’s incomplete, and then everyone waits for the flag to either be thrown or not. Maybe it’s time to restore the automatic first down to the DPI penalty.

  26. If you get a chance, take a look at Texas state finals; not so much for the game ... although they are entertaining ... but for the crowd. Unfortunately, last season, with COVID, they capped the games at 17,000 attendance per game. Back in 2019, the 6A DI game attracted over 47,000 which eclipsed attendance totals at almost 3/4 of the college bowl games played that season leading up to the national championship game.

  28. If you're going to bring a "serious" issue to the table you're going to need a little bit more than anecdotal evidence and hyperbole. Foxbat debunked all of your talking points in a mere 20 minutes after you threw out the name of a team in which you clearly know nothing about.
