Got to 50 straight yesterday with a first inning homerun (8 on the year)! Started the year not even in the top 100 MiLB prospects and has flew up to #40 in recent weeks.

I bet Penn remembers him as a QB/RB, lol.

It would be ok, but there is another problem with never passing the ball.....you have pass defense that is less than stellar. It just kind of rolls that way.

They certainly are not the only ones….but they are close to if not the best at it in the area. the problem though is that a number of the other teams who run that or a variation are either conference foes or teams in the same sectional/regional. would probably have to look south to Kentucky and I have no idea about what those teams run

Open enrollment now makes several of those things that used to make p/p schools the boogeyman available to public schools. When I lived in New Orleans, private schools were a dominant part of the landscape due to the condition of the public school system there. Something like one-third of the schools in the area were private school. When we moved to Texas, we moved into an area that didn't have, at that time, a nearby Catholic school. My parents, however, were less concerned because we had public school that was a nationally-recognized junior high. In essence, we ended up at a private public school ... matter of fact, the only thing I felt as the differences between the Catholic school and my public school were 1) no religion during the day, including no religion class, 2) the public school was much larger, it feeds a 6A high school, and had many more activities available, and 3) the sports teams for the public school were WAY better than the Catholic school I went to ... with that said, it probably would have been about the same at the high school level. I've been in Catholic schools that look like low-level public schools ... I've been in public schools that look like high-level private schools ... and I've been part of challenged public schools. I think that two things that are going to be problematic for challenged schools moving forward: open-enrollment with differentials and vouchers. I'm not saying that the open-enrollment with differentials is evil and I see really good opportunities for COMMUNITIES to benefit from the idea of shared resources and focus. For example, my colleague's daughter attended a school outside of her district because the other school provided better focus on performing arts that she just couldn't get at her own local school. Where I see the bigger issue is when the more fundamental core education is compromise and lopsided. I think it's great when a school has a focus in performing arts or life sciences or agriculture, but provides a big problem when math or English or basic science is severely compromised to the extent that students/family feel the need to transfer just for the basics.

Schools with open-enrollment are allowed to charge a "differential," I believe, for students that are out of the district ... especially in the case of homeschooled kids. I don't know that all do though. It would make sense that the argument is local taxes, but if I'm not mistaken, the schools themselves get their money based on DOE enrollment numbers, so whether a kid's parents pay taxes in that district or not likely doesn't play into the school's focus, but may for the district ... i.e., the school gets "paid" for the kid if they are a butt-in-the-seat whether their folks pay taxes in that district or another. I had a colleague of mine who lived in the Tippecanoe School Corp, but his daughter attended Jeff because she wanted to do arts as her high school focus and this was before the Rohrman Performing Arts Center opened up at Jeff. I don't know if it was official that students could attend outside of districts at that time or not or if it was more on a special case basis. Don't know if he paid a differential for her. I know that TSC has a differential for kids that are out of district that attend their schools.

If you are willing to go through all three appeals....these situations will usually rule in favor of the student, but they make it hell on the family to get it done.

Linton might have lost more than Triton Central but in my opinion they were a far superior team to begin with. The regional championship game MD played against TC was never in doubt and had a running clock the very beginning of the second half. The MD game with Linton was a slugfest and a nail biter to the end. I would give the edge to Linton right now but I guess that's why we play the games. We will see it all on the field soon.

Way back when this is how it was going to be. The EIAC did want to add two teams. They wanted a northern team (Connersville I think and a Southern Team Madison) At the time the AD was not going to budge. Even though MCS winning percentage was like less than 20 percent for boys and 25 percent for girls in regards to HHC opponents. The powers that be thought that it built character to get your head beat in and your a** handed to you night end and night out. Furthermore it built you up and got you ready for the sectional. As you can see the Cubs are regular contenders for the Regional and Semistate. (sarcasm) Progress has been made. Madison finally made the decision to exit the HHC (Smallest School Enrollment Wise) Football if they remained in the HHC they now would be a 3A playing two 4A teams and 5/6A teams. The turf field and weight facility are top notch. Now having the right people in place to attract kids and building up kids that will compete is the next step. Hoping this gets done soon as I have a 9th grade girl and a 8th grade boy that are both three sport athletes. Thirsty for success.

I think team camps on a college campus are for the benefit of the college. What better way to get prospects on campus to evaluate them? I think schools are better off to host multi-team scrimmages on their campuses. More team work gets done this way. Just my humble opinion.

Just my opinion….team camps hosted by colleges are a waste of time and energy imo it’s a few days or running around and practicing pretty much just fundamentals with a few scrimmages in between. Very short individual sessions for each position over the camp….and the college coaches kinda float around and give quick pep talks and not much else. they feel more like a publicity stunt from college programs than actual camps. again it’s just my opinion but i definitely am in favor of scrimmaging teams in your area over being 1 of 20 hs teams at a college over the summer for a few days running around with your head cut off trying to make the most of the time
