Wow, where to start. Roughly twenty years ago I was asked by Rivals to get with some other posters on their forum to compile a Top 100 for that site after Dallas Jackson was removed from their staff. That started my interest in compiling the poll for discussion and debate among others with similar interests in the national aspect of the game. Dallas Jackson soon established his own site and requested that I post exclusively on his site, which I did. In the following years, I have added other sites, including this one, to my "customer" base. My methodology is simple. I read, watch, and analyze this game on a daily basis from May to January. I am not smart enough to develop nor do I believe in algorithms. I am constantly viewing MaxPreps, rivals and other forums to gather all the information I can on teams throughout the country. I attend as many games as possible throughout the season and watch games both on TV and streaming services. For instance, next weekend I am going to Massillon, Ohio to watch four of the Cleveland area's best teams play four state champions, including Center Grove from Indiana. This does not only give me a chance to gauge those teams, but also a gauge on each state's strength. The following weekend, I will not only attend a game (most likely Warren Central at Carroll) but also watch the national games being broadcast on ESPN as part of their kickoff weekend. With all that of background, plus empirical data from prior seasons, I compile team rankings for every state, yes that includes states like Wyoming, Rhode Island, and other non-power states. From there I compile a Top 100 by looking at game results, player evaluations and the state's strength to compile the list. Hope this helps.2 points

I've never been a fan of local teams playing prep schools, the risk of injury is greatly exacerbated. And I don't think IMG has a goat to steal...1 point

There used to be so many WRC schools at the top in 1A football, now it seems so many of them struggle. I hate to see it as I enjoyed going to FC, Seeger or Attica to watch a game. What's caused the slump? Are the feeder programs not turning out the talent that they used to? Are kids just not wanting to play football? Let's hope a couple teams break out this year and have a good run. It's good for 1A football and it's good for these communities.1 point

I think you know the answer to that one LOL. We have done the turn over belts before and it brought a lot of energy.1 point

What is good for one is not always good for another. Some schools have multiple athletes all over the place during the summer- so really there preseason and acclimation to the heat/hitting truly does come on August 1. Some might find it advantageous to get a "dress rehearsal" of sorts before the real lights come on. Regardless of how you handle yours- I think it is a disservice to call it "worthless" - imagine being one of those JV players/tweeners and thinking your time or risk of injury isn't that important. I think someone said earlier - just have an intra-squad. I don't believe it is required to have a scrimmage.1 point

It blows my mind how quickly 11 years can pass, when one week of football work, against a worthy opponent, can feel like an eternity, just wishing the seconds away to reach that 7:00 kickoff. One of the greatest blessings in my life happened when I ended up in the WRC. This little athletic conference binds our blue collar, hard-scrabble towns together. It’s a beautiful region of the Midwest that is Americana as apple pie. The football that’s played here is tough and physical, brought to you by long family lines, and friendly (at times hateful) rivalries. As it should be. I can’t image a more beautiful setting for the Fall than the banks of the Wabash River in West-Central Indiana. Apple Festival, Little Italy, Hill Climb, Covered Bridge. Stroll through any of these and see 4 letter jackets of different WRC schools. What we share is special. You can’t find a better place to raise your kids. I have no idea how it will turn out, but I’m very thankful to be a part of another high school football season in the WRC.1 point

https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2023/05/05/colts-why-og-emil-ekiyor-jr-went-from-projected-4th-rounder-to-udfa/70186908007/ Knee injuries for o linemen, especially ones that require arthroscopic surgery scare teams away. It also appears his performance at the combine was not enough to convince a team that the knee was not an issue. I hope he does well with the Colts.1 point

Beating somebody might entail beating Center Grove, not the Dream Team of high school football (an all star team put together with kids from all over). It's not exactly "our community vs yours." This game screams mercy rule in the 3rd quarter. Credit to the Ben Davis coaches and administration for going all in though.1 point
