My understanding is Ritter made it clear they would wait as long as they could but wouldn’t return. it was called around 10 PM. Based on what I saw. It was headed for a running clock.2 points

A big thank you to all the referees and stadium workers who took time out of their Saturday to come back and help finish up the games that were postponed last night. You are the best!2 points

Here’s part of a Facebook post I saw this morning: “Flag for targeting. [Home team] Player ejected. Penalty 15 yards from the end of the play. 1st down. Play ran for a gain of 3 yards. White hat called to the [home team] side line. Head coach shows official an iPad with film. They watch the film and white hat has conference with team. Walks to the middle of the field and radios the press box that he is waving off the penalty for targeting and no personal foul. Player is allowed to return to the game.” In case there’s any question, it is absolutely forbidden for the officials to use any form of reply under any circumstances. I’m pretty sure the R on this game is going to be getting a call from the IHSAA today … and it won’t be pleasant.1 point

I can provide some context for the HHC side of things. I attended the Beech Grove at Jennings County game last night and left at the end of the third due to the blowout. Seems like the Panthers and Stars will be battling it out for last place because Jennings County was awful. The inexperience really shows. Nevertheless, on the drive home, I tuned in to a Seymour station and caught the last couple minutes of their game with Jeffersonville. The Owls led 12-0 heading into the fourth but gave up a 74 yard passing TD with 11 minutes left to make it 12-7. Jeff had the ball with under a minute to go and, on 4th and 22 from around their own 25, they completed a 50 yard pass play to get to the Seymour 25 with 40 seconds left. Jeff capped it off with a 10 yard QB keep with 33 seconds left to win 14-12. As for Columbus East and Columbus North, the Bull Dogs took a 35-0 lead into the half. They had outgained the Olympians in yardage 423-25. North would win 42-0 and the final yardage totals were 470-59.1 point

Brownsburg 30, Irish 14. At least the Irish held the Bulldogs under 40 this season. Brownsburg is good. They took advantage of every Irish weaknesses.1 point

@ptr BTW, I don't mean to criticize Coach Johnson I think he is a very good coach. I just wonder if he thought that maybe he should play his olb's up at the line . When I played we played the 5/2 defense with both olb's at the line of scrimmage. I know it's a different era but just i just would have liked to see if it would have worked..... Anyways till next week.1 point

Yeah they didn't give up. Loss like this with all things considered doesn't bother me a whole lot. But seriously if they would have had another d lineman we could have at least forced some 3rd downs in the second half. Nope we just let them run 3 vs. 5/6 at the line of scrimmage . No doubt who is gonna win that battle especially with a rb that gets a nice speed up before facing any resistance. I truly believe a coaching decision that would have brought up another d lineman could have won this game.1 point

Martinsville has a good team . I'm not extremely impressed . Throw in the blocked punt for the td and an atrocious south secondary with the two late drives at the end of halves and well this was the result. I think there are some 2a teams that have better secondaries than that. The panthers looked athletic and had size but they were scattered and scared in the secondary. Martinsville qb threw 2 picks isn't like he was far and away better . Gabe Johnson runs a 3/4 I have never really liked that d. Martinsville had 5 or 6 guys on the oline and a fullback/slot up front vs souths 3 with sometimes a olb rotating up. Gotta make changes with the young personnel they have . But yeah hope they learn from this one. At least they didn't give up. Would have been easy down 14 .1 point

Martinsville 41 Bloomington South 35 (Final) Incredible. South let the Arties go 80 yards with under 44 seconds left in the game as they lost a heartbreaker. The Arties scored the same way at the end of the first half. South's young secondary has a lot of work to do to shore things up. Martinsville's experience as well as their big o-line were the difference in the game. Still, the Panthers had no business losing this game the way they did.1 point

I'm sorta disappointed in 3- 4 d coach runs I mean clearly move a guy up martinsville has won this on the ground so far . So predictable hard to watch 😆1 point

North’s defense should give them the opportunity to compete. Overall, I thought that unit did a pretty good job. They were getting enough pressure on Fisher to disrupt the timing of Memorial’s passing game and force a number of bad or hurried throws to receivers that weren’t open. Their offense struggled (aside from Rucker’s long TD run - which was a great play call, totally fooled Memorial’s defense…and everybody else in Bundrant Stadium). So they’ll need to find more ways to move the ball consistently. Over on the Memorial side…Connor O’Donahue will be a strong complement to Alex Broshears. Both of them have had double-digit tackles in both games. O’Donahue closes on ball carriers very quickly and tackles well. Liam Bryant, a former QB who beefed up and moved to DE, is making some noise at his new position. He had 2 sacks and at least 3 or 4 QB hurries…he came pretty close to having a 4 sack game. And I also have to shout out to Maxx Anslinger. He made two phenomenal catches in the end zone for longish TDs. On the first, he had to stretch for a fade pass to the back corner and managed to not only secure possession, but get a foot down in bounds. On the 2nd, he maintained possession through a very hard hit. Take away the muffed punt and a couple of long runs, I thought Memorial played very well on both sides of the ball.1 point

This is the issue with that community. Playing powerhouse programs makes you better. Go add Providence to the schedule for what? To say you went 7-2 instead of 6-3? Utterly pointless. Draw a circle from Columbus to Vincennes to Evansville to New Albany. Tell me the number of programs that are successful, have an enrollment over 1000, and aren’t locked in to a full schedule. I’ll wait. Got my popcorn ready.1 point

The Umpire is required to have a gauge for measuring the pressure in the footballs. The ball is required to have a psi between 12.5 and 13.5. If a coach hands the ball to the U and it’s 12.5 psi, it’s legal. Maybe the coach’s gauge and the U’s gauge were in disagreement. But the U should not be adding or releasing air if the football is already in the legal range.1 point

You took the first shot. As usual. No. Greencastle at 1. Heard Bedford turned them down. Floyd Central needs to amend their scheduling. Louisville Metro Powerhouses. Teams 3 hours away. There has to be teams in Southern Indiana that they can play. Somewhere.1 point

First congrats to THN. I’m sure those boys are riding high right now. Second, I never saw that coming. I thought maybe Mooresville has something cooking with the addition of Cruz. So many crazy turns this past two weeks. Especially in 6A! That’s what makes football so exciting. I think this season is going to be one to remember.1 point

No problem. It’s fun for me. I’m a competitive person so I always like to test my knowledge (or lack thereof). Compiling results makes it more competitive as well and gives the winner bragging rights for the year.1 point

It's good to have one that can do multiple functions. You may have to keep track of the game clock (the count down setting works best here) but then also time the time outs. Having a separate function for that is helpful if someone else doesn't have a watch. That's why it's always good for everyone to have a stop watch even if you aren't an official that needs one.1 point
