I think that most of the sports you mentioned (could be mistaken) in which Carmel and CG play have “invitationals” in which multiple teams compete unless you are insinuating they have a wrestling dual/volleyball match. You're going to run into each other in those sports wheee competitions are mainly invite based as naturally they are hard to avoid. You’re right though. It’s all really bizarre and silly in the grand scheme of things and the kids are ultimately suffering so the adults can virtue signal and control some embellished narrative. Carmel and CG are both getting on a bus Friday night, traveling 2+ hours each way across state lines in order to “protect each other” from the other party because some adults refuse to lock themselves in a room and sort out their differences. Both teams will roll back into their school parking lots well after midnight and the coaches (and some players I assume) will be right back at it the next morning. Then, they’ll look at folks with a straight face and speak about “doing what’s best for student athletes.” Crazy times we are living in.

Just stop. I’ve been over this on this forum multiple times. You wanna be the best, play the best. CG became an easy target with the help of the media and outside nonsense. I am old enough to remember when “big bad” Warren had a “play anybody, anywhere” type of mindset. Then they, along with the other MIC schools, get their feelings hurt and breakup with Carmel and CG before Carmel and CG have a chance to breakup with them. Warren hasn’t beaten CG since 2019 and isn’t going to do so by taking advantage of “the opportunity to get other teams on the schedule.” Soft.

Based on a news article, it's due to multiple injuries and “unfortunate circumstances within the team.” Their roster is around 25 players, but lots are freshmen/sophomores. I do and think they will against a struggling Bluejackets unit that is still trying to find its way with new head coach See. The Bluejackets have struggled to stop opposing offensives through two weeks into the season, and it might just be a game for the Senators to continue to find a rhythm on the offensive side of the ball. Paoli (+1) at Springs Valley I can't help but notice how good of a job these two coaches have done during their tenure. Two great programs with buy-in from the kids and the community. When was the last time the Blackhawks were favored vs the Rams? Give me the Blackhawks in a close game at home. Perry Central (-28) at Crawford County Not the start the Commodores are used to as through two games the Commodores have failed to score a touchdown. First-year head coach Malone is still looking for his first career win as head coach of the Commodores and I think this might be the game to get back on track. Look for Malone and the Commodores to win their first game of the season. Charlestown (-32) at Clarksville Doesn't get much harder than starting your season off with Silver Creek and Brownstown if you are the Pirates. I look for Charlestown to bounce back this week vs the Generals who have yet to score on the offensive side of the ball. Eastern Pekin (+31) at Brownstown The Musketeers were able to steal one from the Senators in week one on the Senator's home turf. Good win for a program that began football dating back to 2007. However, give me Brownstown to take this game. Have to give credit to Coach May and what he has done for the Braves. Floyd Central (-14) at Silver Creek I guess the price you pay to open your season against a school from Kentucky is your season might not start as you may have wanted it to. Will it pay off for the Highlanders as it did for them last season? Will this be the year Silver Creek takes down the Highlanders for the first time since 2021? This game is a toss-up for me, but I like the Highlanders to continue their winning streak against the Dragons. North Harrison (-7) at Corydon Can Corydon get the first win for Keller in his second year for the Panthers? The Panthers started the season with two great programs, but can the defense show up for them this week? I like North Harrison to win this game, strictly because defense still wins games. Salem (+1) at Scottsburg Glesing and the Lions are already off to a better start from last year. The question is, can they regroup after a tough week vs the Dragons? Whereas, the Warriors have kept scores respectful, can they come up with the first win of the season? I look for the Lions to take a step forward in year two with Glesing, but I could see this game going either way. Bonus Game of the Week: Tell City (-11) at Forest Park The Marksmen begin 2-0 for the first time since 2020, does scheduling have to do with that or are the Marksmen the real deal? If you ask me, allowing no points on the board through two games speaks for itself. Although the Rangers seem to be heading in the right direction with the program, I look for the Marksmen to continue their dominance and move to 3-0 on the season.

Many years ago I was working a game at North Judson. As I gave the ready for play signal, a bat landed on the ground about 5 yds. in front of me. Sure enough, they snapped the ball and the QB rolled toward me … and the bat. I kept one eye on the QB and one eye on the bat as the play ran. Somehow, the bat escaped being trampled and flew away before the next play. At that time, the local public TV station, WYIN, broadcast a game each week on tape delay. I was able to get home in time to watch the replay, and the bat showed up great. And no, I did not throw a flag for an “illegal bat.”

The same fans who complained about the soft schedule are now probably complaining because you have some guys dinged up. Regardless of what the fans think...scheduling that game was a very wise move for the Patriots that is going to pay dividends down the road.
