Similar thing happened when Roncalli moved up to 5A. Put them in Cathedral sectional. R lost close game, then got thumped and back down to 4A.

The Chatard/Roncalli game will come down to turnovers and missed opportunities. Bonus points to Chatard for getting to play this game at home. Not sure if Chatard has the athletes to slow down the Roncalli QB. Not sure if Roncalli has the size to handle the Chatard OL (shocked myself by saying that). Big plays for Roncalli vs a grind for Chatard. Eventually Roncalli’s defense wears out like 2 years ago when Chatard held the ball for nearly the entire 4th quarter. if the game is clean, Chatard likely pulls away at the end and wins 31-20 but it’s football and anything can happen.

I think the second year Westfield head coach out coached the future HOF Carmel coach.

Whereas Carmel was satisfied for the field goal to go up three on their OT possession, Westfield went all or nothing. That kid that caught the pass, former Colt's center Justin Snow's kid, is already a good one, and only a freshman playing 6A varsity ball.

I have stated on this forum many times, and I am VERY patient with coaching, but NFL for sure, COACHING MATTERS, and last year when it was all said and done in Chicago, it was amateur hour and GM POLES was handcuffed by previous upper echelon leadership decisions, when Poles and Warren were finally able to convince George and ultimately Virginia to cut bait and deal with it , and then PAY the top guy on the market which should shore up the that spot for the next 2 decades plus ( he is my dream MIKE TOMLIN coach, aka BEN JOHNSON) Then you see the talent come through. Coach Johnson came in and just flat out busted CW18 from jump street, if you caught any of the early early stuff out of camp back in the spring time, CW18 would say that he really thought for minute Coach Johnson just had it out for him but they both understood that things had to change ASAP, starting with Mechanics ..... Accountability to those mechanics. So much talent, he will continue to take to hard coaching and accountability and return the game will slow down for him sooner rather than later, at least that is my hope Orchids of Asia ?

I would agree. I think McAfee, Coach Saban, and the ESPN crew would go to New Pal and Cathedral. Big Noon Kickoff on Fox would cover Penn and CP. Both BIG games, but one is bigger than the other on a state (national in terms of my hypothetical/ joke) scale.

It would seem he is doing pretty darn well. Perhaps a combination of development, good mentorship around him on the team, new coaching staff, overall maturity that occurs quickly at his age for most. Hope he continues his development.

I would agree with you at this point. To me Chatard vs Roncalli is definitely a #1 vs #2. Up to now HH doesn't have the quality of wins to put them in the top 2, nor have they been playing the caliber of football for the ranking. Of course, nothing we say or think matters. At this point wins are wins, losses are permanent, and all that really matters is who wins after Thanksgiving! But I think Roncalli is going to be playing in regionals next week.

Hard to say but I doubt it. He completely tore the ACL back in the 1st game against Brebeuf (I believe) so he’s played a lot of ball since then. With that, even with inconsistent play, as a team, they’ve proven talented enough to later make up for it - with the exception of Cincy Elder who was just that good. I just don’t think they can afford to be inconsistent against this much improved late season Roncalli team who will make them pay for it.

Also, I learned two things upon the release of the CFP rankings… 1. Schedule FCS and non power 4 schools in the non-conference. OR 2. Schedule tough games early so you can have plausible deniability in November like Notre Dame.
