  1. Partisan religion discussions are by far some of THE most nauseating things to see, hear and read. This "who is holier game" is pathetic at best. In my honest opinion, the most Christian example in DC we had and even continues to be Jimmy Carter. He was as opposite in many political beliefs as me, but he is a man of high integrity and faith. His example is something we should all strive for. The fact is that any pictures, video, or moments in church were all photo ops. Dispute President Obama's faith all you want, but he has been faithful to Michelle, and committed to his family as long as he has had a family. I will give him credit even for not being shy about owning his mistakes. But he never did cheat on Michelle like Clinton or Trump have. He has never had to pay off a porn star; regardless of how the case turned out, he still did it. There is a picture a friend of mine who is a minister in CA posted today. It is a side by side of President Trump holding the Bible up yesterday and today Nancy Pelosi holding one. I hate seeing this Book become a political prop. Because that is all it is.

  2. You are aware the bottom photo has been photoshopped, right? The actual image on the wall is at the memorial to Jose Marti, who is considered a national hero in Cuba in his efforts to liberate Cuba from Spain in the late 19th Century. The challenge in this is that we ALL have to better than this.

  4. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jun/02/outrageous-christian-leaders-reject-trump-use-of-church-as-prop-during-george-floyd-protests FTA: The Right Rev Mariann Budde, the Episcopal bishop of Washington, told the Washington Post: “I am the bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and was not given even a courtesy call, that they would be clearing [the area] with tear gas so they could use one of our churches as a prop.” Trump’s message is at odds with the values of love and tolerance espoused by the church, Budde said, before describing the president’s visit as an opportunity to use the church, and a Bible, as a “backdrop”. “Let me be clear, the President just used a Bible, the most sacred text of the Judeo-Christian tradition, and one of the churches of my diocese, without permission, as a backdrop for a message antithetical to the teachings of Jesus,” she told CNN. “We align ourselves with those seeking justice for the death of George Floyd and countless others. And I just can’t believe what my eyes have seen,” she added. “I don’t want President Trump speaking for St John’s. We so dissociate ourselves from the messages of this president,” she told the Washington Post. “We hold the teachings of our sacred texts to be so, so grounding to our lives and everything we do, and it is about love of neighbor and sacrificial love and justice.” Other religious leaders echoed her comments. Presiding Bishop Michael Curry, Primate of the Episcopal church, accused the president of using the church and Bible for “partisan political purposes”.

  5. It has and I agree with your statements.. Jimmy Carter is a great man. Barack Obama and George W Bush have their faults as men and have admitted so but seem to be great husbands and dads. Bill Clinton seems to be trying to be a better husband but ive never doubted his love for his daughter. Donald Trump has cheated on all his wives, ive read articles that when he was divorcing ivanna, he without fight gave up Ivanka and Eric and dragged along DJTJR for a bit, when ivanna said she was done fighting after the lastest court hearing, Donald Trump Jr got in with his dad (who he wanted to live with) but Trump then ordered him to go with his mom. It seemed it was just a stunt. Our country willl be a better place once he's out of office. The bible has created so much divide in our country.

  6. I think Western might be the favorite in the East. They are big up front and return their leading rusher for his Senior season. Replacing the QB will be the only issue. They played a ton of Juniors last year at the skilled positions and a few linemen. I expect them to be pretty good in the East. Much the same can be said about Tipton. They played a number of Juniors last year, so they bring back good experience. Now, I am not sure about their depth, so injuries could be a problem, but I expect them to challenge Western. I would agree with FootballFan15, 3 thru 5 is a toss up. Cass will have four Seniors back with significant experience (graduated a senior class of ten with most of them having played significant minutes since their sophomore year), and I only see about six seniors playing significant minutes this year. They could easily start five at the skilled positions and the other on the O-line. The big question mark is the O-line. Relatively no experience and only one junior with really any minutes from last year. I could see them starting two Sophomores there. They really need someone to step up to the challenge. And depth, I don't see much, so injuries could be a disaster. The senior class has some good athletes and are good leaders, just not a lot of them and even fewer in the junior class. This could be an interesting year for them with a new coach, but I expect them to overachieve simply because of the respect they have for Coach Clay Mannering, Coach Scott Mannering, and Coach Barr. The one thing you can count on with the Cass kids, they will give all out effort and will run through a brick wall for their coaches. Hamilton Heights could be decent. Injuries really hurt them last year. They played a lot of younger guys and took their lumps, but that could bode well for them for this year and next. I expect them to be better. Northwestern is a mystery to me. I played there and we had an identity. Right now, I still think they are trying to find theirs. I think the coach is trying to get the kids to play a certain way, but it is not what they are used to doing. If they find it, they have some good athletes and a little confidence with them will go a long way. I do not know as much about the West. I expect Westside, LCC, and the Bombers to be really tough teams to beat. Good luck to all of them, and let's play some Football!!

  7. I agree with VikingNation's Top 5. 1. Valpo - with Grimes transfer clear pre season #1, he would of looked good in a Niner uniform!! 2. Merrillville - always loaded with talent and they get even more with Morton transfers. Pirates will be right there with Valpo 3. Hobart - return a lot of athletes, experienced qb, have a lot of confidence, good schedule with conference title between them and Niners 4. Andrean - almost same comments as Hobart except QB comment, who is going to lead this offense that has a ton of talent and size? 5. Chesterton - all rides on the arm of QB Mullen, a qb with his talent at the hs level can carry you a long way! 6. Crown Point - defense is always solid and Petit at QB with another year of experience will only help. Maybe they will open up the offense more....doubt it. 7. Portage - RR will get them to play physical and with their numbers will find a qb to run his offense. 8. Highland - Coach K is a great coach, they made big strides last year and I see them only improving as long as he is there. 9. Morton - even with transfers, shelves not bare from a talent perspective, new HC with new system, they will be better come playoff time 10. KV - much improved last year, physical team, returning QB?, this program going in the right direction I debated #10 between Lowell, KV, and RC. I did not like what I saw in Lowell last year, just don't know if talent level is down. RC is always solid but they did lose a lot from last year but it is a unique system there and they have a rb returning this year from injury that is supposed to be a stud. Let's all hope we will have a full season. We need high school sports back, heck all sports back for that matter!

  8. My better half is a Hamilton Heights Huskie alum. I'm pulling for Kirschner to turn it around this year. He's a good guy. I don't know what's happened up in Cicero/Arcadia/Atlanta. They were turning into a juggernaut under Street and the bottom just completely fell out. Not sure if they're going through a down-cycle with talent or injuries are piling up. Just doesn't seem right to see Heights on the losing end of seasons. Their teams of the recent past would have a decent number of guys good enough to start for neighboring Hoosier Crossroads teams. Of course, what's most important in the Hoosier Conference this year is for Yanni to be injury free on his way to Purdue. 😉

  11. All links had text referring to wearing of masks and/or social distancing and are accounted for below. As for 4-5 days, only 2 of the 14 links appeared 4-5 days after the initial protests started. Both of those are tied to the FoxNews/AP entry ... with the initial FoxNews link being 4 days and the Al Araybia link being 5 days. 12 of 14 were less than 4 days. Also note that some are listed at 2 or 3 days after the initial protests began even though the article is referencing an event from the day before the article. Nonetheless, the days listed are from the date of the first protests in Minnesota, May 26 so the number of days stated below are overstated in some cases and are actually less from the event that they reference. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/minneapolis-mayor-urges-protesters-to-wear-masks-and-practice-social-distancing 3 days - “The City encourages everyone to exercise caution to stay safe while participating in demonstrations, including wearing masks and physical distancing as much as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s office wrote in a statement addressed to individuals who took to the streets following the death of George Floyd while in police custody. “The City has made hundreds of masks available to protesters this week.” https://www.minnpost.com/health/2020/05/the-daily-coronavirus-update-33-more-deaths-walz-shocked-and-horrified-by-footage-of-george-floyd-arrest/ 1 day - Gov. Tim Walz and other state officials applauded people who wore masks and did their best to socially distance at a gathering in Minneapolis on Tuesday to protest the killing of George Floyd. Floyd died shortly after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for several minutes while Floyd yelled that he could not breathe. More than a thousand people showed up to the protest in south Minneapolis on Tuesday. Most were wearing masks, according to news reports. Police cleared the crowd late in the evening by firing tear gas and other projectiles after some protesters smashed windows of police cars and the Third Precinct building. The police response drew criticism, including from members of the Minneapolis City Council, though Mayor Jacob Frey later defended the police because he said the cars and the precinct had guns in them. https://www.insider.com/protesters-minneapolis-george-floyd-mitigate-threat-covid-19-2020-5 3 days - Protesters told us why they decided to show up despite the pandemic and how they tried to mitigate the risk of COVID-19. Many protesters wore face masks during the unrest, but large swaths packed together in the turmoil near the police precinct closest to where Floyd died — the Third Precinct that protesters set fire to later in the night. Various organizations and individuals organized to mitigate the threat of coronavirus. A church just blocks from the epicenter of the disruption was repurposed as a triage center for injured demonstrators and distributed hand sanitizer and masks. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/05/29/metro/what-do-we-want-justice-hundreds-chant-south-end-park-support-george-floyd/ 3 days - The protest on Washington Street was one of the first large public gatherings since the COVID-19 public health emergency was declared in Massachusetts in March. Wearing colorful masks, surgical masks, and bandanas tied around their faces, people rallied to mourn and rage, even while distancing as much as they could. https://www.mprnews.org/story/2020/05/28/protest-of-minneapolis-mans-death-blocks-memphis-street 2 days - But Mayor Jim Strickland said he wishes more people would have observed coronavirus-related social distancing at a demonstration at a police precinct. “I wish last night’s protesters would have all had on masks, been six feet apart, and gone through the proper channels to ensure everyone’s safety,” Strickland said in a statement Thursday. “By not doing so, protesters and our officers were unnecessarily put at risk. Some leaders appealing for calm in places where crowds smashed storefronts and destroyed police cars in recent nights have been handing out masks and warning demonstrators they were putting themselves at risk. “If you were out protesting last night, you probably need to go get a COVID test this week,” Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said Saturday evening. “There is still a pandemic in America that’s killing black and brown people at higher numbers.” Minnesota’s governor said too many protesters weren’t socially distancing or wearing masks after heeding the call earlier in the week. But many seemed undeterred. “It’s not OK that in the middle of a pandemic we have to be out here risking our lives,” Spence Ingram said Friday after marching with other protesters to the state Capitol in Atlanta. “But I have to protest for my life and fight for my life all the time.” Ingram, 25, who was wearing a mask, said she has asthma and was worried about contracting the virus. The group also expressed concern about Strickland’s criticism of protesters for forgoing social distancing guidelines and placing themselves and the police at risk of COVID-19. Akinmoladun, one of the organizers, said the demonstration started with observation of social distancing guidelines. 15. Off topic, but I think the Ihsaa needs to open up team activities. It can be done in guidelines. They think they are protecting everyone by not holding team events and activities, but there are numerous camps and trainers and ex coaches holding activities for players from all different areas of the state. How is this keep distancing and being safe? Not to mention no team chemistry. They aren’t practicing with players of their own team. They are socializing and practicing with players from other schools. I just am someone who is totally against that. Practice and workout with your REAL teammates.

I mean come on - EVEN IF his death could be because of any other health-related event, the fact that the officer held his knee on Mr. Flloyd's neck for as long as he did with 2 other officers sitting on him had to be the catalyst for killing him.

  20. All: Just a heads-up if you want to pre-order 2020 Indiana Football Digest. The cover charge is $15, add Shipping of $10 . . . takes us to $25. Good so far. Then you get ready to check out and an additional shipping charge is added in. There are two options, the least of which is $8.25. Plus Uncle Sam's dip in your pocket Makes the ultimate hit on your credit card for $35.58. If you get the rush mail delivery, you could get bit for over $53 smackeroos! I live in northern Indiana and we don't have a store up here that sells IFD to my knowledge. So, if you decide to pre-order the Indiana Football Digest and have them mail it, plan for a minumum shipping charge of $18.25 plus tax. That is unless Uncle Paul Condry can give us a code that will help give us a discount. Don't mind paying the $10 for shipping, but then get hit with an additional $8.25 takes gas out of the old Vehichle! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007
