  3. I also think MOST in congress that campaign as pro life would have preferred to remain quiet when not on the campaign trail. I also think most would have preferred that the Court NOT take this case up.

  4. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. And I'm entitled to call out a misogynic opinion when I see one. If you don't like it you can leave.

  5. This is a great story. The Bus is still very connected to the ND program, and the University in general. He is a true Notre Dame man. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-hall-of-famer-jerome-bettis-completes-his-business-degree-at-notre-dame-28-years-after-leaving-university/ Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis completes his business degree at Notre Dame 28 years after leaving university The 50-year-old can now add a college degree to his already impressive resume. Former Pittsburgh Steelers star running back Jerome Bettis is officially a college graduate. "The Bus" returned to Notre Dame decades after leaving the university to finish out his degree from the Mendoza School of Business. The 50-year-old wants to send a message to everyone that it is never too late to go after a goal and emphasizes the importance of education. The class of 2022 graduate shared the news on Twitter, writing: "A promise made, a promise kept. 28 years after leaving @NotreDame, I've completed my degree from the Mendoza School of Business. I hope my journey serves as reminder that education is the true equalizer in life and it is never too late to start.” The "promise" Bettis speaks of is one to his mother, who he told he would graduate college. When he first went back to school, he commented on his reasoning for why he decided to go back and pursue his degree. "I promised my mother that I would get my degree. In my immediate family, I'll be the first person to graduate from college," he said. "But most importantly, I have two children. For them to see dad finish a commitment that he set out some 27 years ago, for me to complete that, I think it says a lot to them." Embarrassing defenses seemed like second nature to The Bus, but college presented new challenges, especially after being away from the classroom for so long. "It is so strange. Because I'm so behind the times. I mean, I'm a dinosaur in the sense of school. I don't know where anything is. I'm struggling with the technology," he said. Those at Notre Dame know the Hall of Famer getting his degree sends a positive message to others at the school. "I say to all our coaches that there are three things we should be concerned about versus integrity: Do things the right way, second is help these kids get a degree and do well in their lives, and the third is winning on the field," Notre Dame president Father John Jenkins said. "And Jerome getting a degree after all his success just underscores how important that is." File this one as: Things you love to see.

  7. Yes. Homestead, Carroll, and Leo. Too much Amish owned property between Fort Wayne and Woodlan on the east side for them to to be next. No development on the south side for Heritage to be next. Look for the three forementioned programs to continue to grow. Homestead and Carroll will both be pushing 3000 students in the near future and I look for Leo to bump up to 5a at some point. 6A could be on the horizon for the Lions.

  10. Pioneer and their former coach Mike Johnson are talked about nation wide in Wing-T circles. Throw in some the talent and toughness of Royal Center kids........😍 Then Coach Berry added some nice wrinkle with Option and Shotgun Variations to highlight the talent he had.

  11. From what I understand, they ran a version of the Full T? (Double TEs, 3 Backs) You only have to look a little bit to the north to find some schools that are really, really good in it. Zeeland West's HC Jon Schilito has won 4 state titles and 300+ games in it. Hudsonville Unity Christian just set the state scoring record with it (803 in a 14 game schedule). 1 formation, ball in the air 4-6 times a game. It doesn't look like what people watch on Saturdays and Sundays and so they don't like. Pioneer runs the Delaware Wing-T, and you see some other Indiana Teams dabble with Wing T concepts. Plymouth ran some T in the last 00s, last I've seen Full House T in Indiana was Dave Sharpe at Laporte. Is he running it at Noblesville? Michigan has more T and Wing-T.....Indiana seems to have more Option. It's been interesting to compare HS football in the 2 states during my time in each.

  12. Most of the questions I pose don’t necessarily reflect my personal beliefs. Rather, they are intended to stimulate discussion, force people to re-examine their previous opinions, or play “devil’s advocate.” I’m just a tired old trial lawyer who has taken a few thousand depositions, and examined several hundred witnesses in court.

  13. BR - I think you and I are closer aligned on this issue than (maybe) you think. I certainly agree if RVW is overturned without a federal legislative action on abortion, there will be more to argue about because the states certainly won't be consistent and YES - unintended consequences will more than likely appear. Overly liberal states will get more liberal and overly conservative states will get more conservative. I WANT to believe the people we elected will actually do their job and find some middle ground for the US on this issue, but I am also a realist that thinks they still need a wedge issue for re-election. although I suspect there is. 😉 And THAT, my friend is why I hope to never be on the opposite side of the courtroom with you. So far, in any of my depositions or testimony, no lawyer has been able to throw me off. (I take pride that I have actually been complimented by an opposing lawyer once - and he was tough) I think you could be relentless wearing me down......So lets not meet in a courtroom, OK?

  14. But don't we have a "state-by-state patchwork of laws" regarding a whole host of other issue right now? And sure, it may be a sh*t show, but it was how our founding fathers intended it to be. A relatively weak federal government where the real legislation that affect citizens the most happens at the state/local level.

  16. I can certainly live with a legislative response if SCOTUS overturns Roe, but you have to agree a state-by-state patchwork of laws will be a sh*t show. And you have to consider the most important law of all: “The Law of Unintended Consequences.” The Law states: “Whenever a plan or strategy is implemented, regardless of the degree to which it accomplishes the desired goal, it will generate consequences that are both unintended and unforeseen.” And I didn’t say you were inconsistent. I said hypothetical questions are used to probe for inconsistency. But since you wouldn’t answer, I can’t tell whether there is logical inconsistency in your positions … although I suspect there is. 😉

  17. My kids go to Northrop. School spirit=low. School culture=low. School identity=low. New principal=often. Once, my daughter called to tell me that there was no teacher in the room. I quickly called the office and they said that there was a teacher in the room. I told her I would patch in my daughter three-way calling if she'd like to talk to my daughter and the invisible teacher in the room at the same time. Oh, the stories I hear and the amazing videos I see every day. A long time ago, I was an instructional coach with Leo on my coaching list...not really there much, but it was wonderful when I was there.

  20. I generally make it a point to not respond to DT/HHF's "throw-it-against-the-wall-and-see-what sticks" clickbait, but *-Shelbyville - I figure it's a matter of when, not if, the Golden Bears go to the EIAC. *-Greenwood - could replace Shelbyville in the Hoosier Heritage. They were apparently interested when Rushville left but the district admin insisted they remain in the Mid-State. *-Indian Creek: Isolated. It's a mid-sized 3A school without any 3A schools nearby. It's basically stuck with Brown County & Edgewood. That's why it's in the WIC. It could possibly join the Indiana Crossroads, but travel is going to be a nightmare no matter where it goes. It's not joining a league with 4A Shelbyville & Greenwood. *-Southport: The Circle City Conference is a private school league. Southport's not going there. If/when Conference Indiana blows up, I'd expect them to possibly try to latch on with either the Mid-State or the Hoosier Heritage. Have no idea what Columbus North and the Bloomington schools do in that scenario - possibly try to join an expanded Mid-State? *-Tech could compete in the MIC in basketball and really not in much of anything else. It would get destroyed in football. Geographically, the NCC is a terrible fit, but competitively, it's a good one. *-Center Grove: It'll be in the HCC in the near future once the kerfluffle over them leaving the MIC blows over.

  22. So what you are REALLY saying is that you made an off-hand comment and dragged females into a fight that they weren't really part of. There was NO LOGIC at all in including females as part of the post. If your argument is that some admins don't value sports like others do, then we are in agreement. If you want to either because of misogyny or, using your own words, being "witty and stupid and a smartass" or just plain old mistake and slip pf the tongue included females, then we are not in agreement. I think that most folks that SERIOUSLY follow sports and know real sports fans will show you a large number of RABID fans both male and female. The moms of the kids that I've coached over two decades of VOLUNTEER activity have been some of the biggest backers of football that I have ever known and have been to bat doing the heavy lifting often to make things happen; especially when the spotlight ISN'T on them. As for the schools I represent, your guess would be completely wrong ... but then again, more spaghetti for the pot apparently.

  23. I will ask, "What does female/woman/XX/etc. have to do with bad football?" ... whether in the future or present?

  24. So now we're blaming women for bad football? Looks like a new batch of spaghetti's ready to get flung at a wall.
