Multiple states have fully adopted UFSMS, providing free meals to all students regardless of eligibility.  Michigan and California do this.

@MarshallCounty @Titan32 @temptation I didn't want to spend all evening inputting numbers, but would love to see this and how it would change classes.  It took me too long to do the small sample, but it does provide some interesting information.

Is there a way to sort that DOE data?  I assume not.  That’d make it super easy.

Rensselaer has done this last year and this year:  they have always provided FREE BREAKFAST, now its Free Lunch for all part of a Pilot program we were told.   Don't worry, I still get to pay $5 for Elementary school portions......and they eliminated Salisbury Steak day.........

Salisbury steak is wasted on the young.  When I was a kid, I always hated that the cafeteria staff were so "haphazard" and had the mashed potatoes touching the steak and the gravy and that they wouldn't drip the gravy off of the steak ... there was just too much of it.  Fast forward to today and I'm much wiser and understand the intricate pleasure of Salisbury steak, gravy, and mashed potatoes  and also realizing that there's no such thing as too much gravy when you are talking about Salisbury steak and mashed potatoes.

Oh no. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the frequent debates about the wisdom of an all-in tourney vs. a qualification format, it’s that we cannot learn anything from the experience of other states. We are unique in Indiana. So stop trying to pollute our perfect tournament with these newfangled ideas.

When I think of top flight athletics and places to benchmark best of the best....my mind always goes to....Iowa....

After all...build it and they will come.....

Its crushing......

2 years ago, I visited all 4 kitchens and rated the Salisbury Steak from each Kitchen (both Elementary schools, middle and high school).

Then sent full on ALL CORP wide email.    A few days later Superintendent sent me an email and said, thanks for the good laugh !!   🙂

Several years ago as  part of the Committee from the IFCA that introduced the success factor and how to classify each school, there was a Free and reduced lunch portion. The IHSAA  took our proposal that was created by coaches form all levels and socio-economic background schools and threw most of it out and kept nothing but the success factor. They however did not stay with our recommendations on that either in that we suggested a 3 year cycle.

I would never change our tournament as a all in system, but I think I would change the way we classify.

You could always protest and bring your lunch from home.  You could use one of those "Dukes of Hazzard" lunch boxes.  Those are worth a lot of money today.

I’ve noticed a couple of posters that have sat this entire four page thread out thus far…

Interesting.

Maybe they are on Fall Break?

Don't you know the brain trust at the IHSAA is smarter than anyone else?
