If you are missing HS football you are in luck, Michigan which has had it's tourney started and shut down multiple times, is back on (for now) and will be playing regional round games this saturday. If you need a football fix you can stream games. All state finals games will be televised for those that have the correct cable package. Even if you don't know the schools....it's high school football in january, can't complain.

While it’s admittedly the goal of every coach to have their 11 best on the field at any one time and to put them in a position to be successful it seems to me that a few programs consistently do this better than others. Memorial is a great example to hold up as a model i.e. certain players playing both ways and taking advantage of the unique skill sets of an individual when placing into a position group..Central certainly uses a similar model understanding that 75% of a player that brings 110% having to play both ways is better than some efforts at 100% playing one side only. Add creative play calling and a firm understanding of player development to the mix and I see why certain programs remain at the top year after year. Mater Dei remains a tough out on anyone’s schedule, North is willing to do whatever it takes from a play call sheet. Reitz will be fun to watch, Jasper should always be consistent.

Lawrence Central Head Basketball Coach Al Gooden is one win away from 500 career wins. He will be the first black coach in Indiana to reach that point. Such a shame that a turd that was supposed to be our building leader ran him off as our coach, but I was happy he landed at LC. Al is a great coach and even better man. I am honored to call him a friend.

I couldn't agree more with this post. Neither the so-called peaceful protesting of the spring/summer or what happened in DC is right. Neither should have taken place in civilized society. The law breakers in both camps should have been/should be arrested and prosecuted. The villifying/condemning of one group and endorsement/acceptance of another, who by and large were doing the same thing, by the media shows just how extremely biased they really are.

Wednesday's events turned ugly but if you noticed, at 6:00 pm (when the curfew was started) the vast majority of that DC crowd left and went home. Those who didn't got arrested. Neither event was right, but the hypocrisy of the press coverage is glaringly alarming......

FYI - They (the Capital Police and the Secret Service) already have the identities of the people who committed those crimes and yes, they will be prosecuted as they should be. And FTR - there were quite a few people of color in that crowd, admittedly not enough to make a difference, but don't claim it was just a bunch of white guys. No - they are not traitors, but they are criminals...... I think the difference in the police activity has to do with this crowd not descending on the Police demanding to defund them or protesting against them.

The trip to Jay Co isn’t much better than the trip to EN (for Norwell) but overall would be much better travel wise for parents and players (all sports MS and HS). The argument that “playing up” leads to more tournament success is valid. But then again 3A Norwell ran the 4A gauntlet this year in the NE8 and still got bounced by Concordia (who ran the 5A/6A gauntlet). Once Norwell moves up to 4a next year the realignment starts to lose some appeal.

Definitely a dangerous sport. I recall the first tournament that I went to back in the early-80s at A&M. I think there were three or four fields side-by-side with games running simultaneously. The thing that struck me were the three ambulances parked on the road adjacent to the fields. Sure enough, within five minutes of the start of the first game, the gurney came out and the lights came on one of ambulances ... and then there were two.
